A full month had passed since the eting but Lind was still in charge of his Clan. The city was always run by trusted subordinates but due to his generous lessons and gifts, he was actually in a bind.
All his children and close friends were Shard Tiers and the few Sliver Tiers were wholly unprepared to shoulder the Clan needs.
His grandchildren by and large were Heaven Realm Star Tiers at best or lower.
Like him, his children were mostly free spirits or focused on their duties so it was hard for him to choose an heir but setting up the branch had finally stirred the complacency of the family.
Miles established the branch with gusto and built a city in a stunning amount of ti. It demonstrated the resources at the Frey Clan's disposal. It was 100 kiloters away in a newly ford forest.
There were only World Realm beasts at best but he chose to focus on training the next generations so many of the youth followed him! The once bustling main clan beca much quieter after that!
His siblings also felt motivated to move on to the next steps and leave the main Clan for their own ambitions.
Sora went straight to the Fiend containnt area with her harem and they were wiping the floor with them to relieve the strain on the forces there.
Hei was in Rasker but Kora joined him as they had always been close.
Isolde and Sally stayed in the main clan to help with administration but they had no interest in running the main clan.
Syrilla had actually also gone out and settled a guild of rcenaries to support the main clan in the future. She was also acting as intelligence gathering outside the Erald Cloaks so it was not a bad thing.
Fey and Tal had no interest in running the main clan either so it left him in so difficulty.
His wives were all Shard Tiers and made Ancestors.
His other children were not as talented as his first generation but still moving up quickly. They were all Sliver Tiers at least but none of them wanted the job either!
Lind found himself still in charge but he was delegating what he could. He also was focusing more on his cultivation as much as possible but he was till involved in his Clans day to day operations.
Hei had officially beco the lord of Rasker but he was the only Shard Tier there. The Elentals had no desire to rule at all and were long since Ancestors.
The only other issue was the Celestials. The most powerful of them was barely at the Sliver Tier and no higher.
Their cultivation confused many but their power was undeniable to all. The fact they used a different version of Qi was not widespread but it was different from the Fiends and they fought to stop them as well.
It was enough to make people accept them on top of his own endorsent.
After all his children essentially moved out, Lind had to make so new changes to the Clan.
Chief among them was the rule on Immortals. Once a family mber rose to the Sliver Tier, they were allowed to head out and settle a city if they wished.
They would beco Grand Elders if they stayed but had to adhere to strict guidelines if they did. Elders at the Heaven Realm were mostly teachers or leaders of the various aspects of the sect.
Miles and others had taken many mbers to set up their various projects. Only 1 branch was officially acknowledged at that point but a process to make several more in the future was instituted.
If a Shard Tier of the Clan wished to head out and do so, they needed the approval of the current leader of the Clan. Lind was a Shard Tier so there were no issues but the future would be unknown so he made that rule.
The head of the main clan needed to have that power.
Lind would gladly hand it all off but he had no heir at the mont!
His wives had quite a few children but their raising of them had put them either out of the running or they had no interest!
He suspected a conspiracy to keep him busy!
His wives knew he was aiming to ascend as soon as possible but the Clan business would slow him down!
He was currently in his office when Delenn ca in. She was able to recover nicely but could not advance much in the current layer they were in.
Even Lind's elixirs could not resolve her issue.
"You look tired, Little Lind." She was one of the very few that could call him that and he smiled at her words. She was covered in soot but her leather vest was plenty to protect her during her work.
"My family seems to be actively trying to keep
so busy I can't advance." He smiled as he spoke but she nodded at his words!
"You and I would disappear but they would lose their husband and father. Also your grandchildren are fond of you." She smirked at him but he could only shake his head.
She saw the scrolls in front of him and beca serious.
"You have built a good Clan here. Even in the next layer, it would shine if it expanded there." He bowed at her but he had no such plans. It was far too early and almost all Shard Tiers had beco a snail's pace aside from him.
"I wish I could know what it was like but none have descended at all. I suspect the barrier is muddled much like the one between the Heaven Realm lands and the Celestial Fields had been." She nodded at his words as her own instincts warned her of trying to ascend.
It was like her body rebelled at the idea of returning to where she belonged.
Unlike in the mortal realms, she was perfectly safe in the lowest layer of the Celestial Fields but she could not advance with the lower quality Qi present around her.
"If the first generation has caught up, surely the second has so candidates?" She knew sothing of his dilemma but saw him shake his head.
"They do not want it and also have their own interests. Jaden was a possibility from Cyntilla but he just wants to find good opponents. Shiuji was next but she wanted nothing to do with idiots trying to ingratiate themselves to her." Cyntilla supported her other son while Lysanna's other daughter had no desire for dealing with the headache of administration.
They were all definitely his children!
"You could just choose one and force it on them, you know?" Delenn was not joking. She had seen several powers that did just that. Rather than wait for the potential heirs to fight it out, the current head chose one and that was the end of discussion.
He looked at her in exasperation.
"It is a good theory, having power thrust on soone, but we both know it is not that easy." Lind wished the ideal was true.
People that had power thrust on them sounded better than those that pursued it but the reality was hardly the sa.
If a person was taught in many fields and had a strong streak of responsibility, then it was fine, but if say soone focused solely on alchemy and suddenly had to run an entire clan, then it was unreasonable to thrust it on such a person.
Cultivators lived long lives but their Dao could prevent them from being an effective leader.
The majority of his children avoided the Clan Head role like the plague.
They were definitely his kids!
"Will you leave it until you are ready to try ascending? I thought your Laws were a bit complex so you should have plenty of ti." Lind looked up at her before holding out his right hand.
She was shocked at the density of his Law power! She quickly scanned him but his shard showed no obvious signs of being full. Yet, the power she felt was almost on par with her own!
"Laws are not my problem. My rather unique path is. I have no one to talk to about my elents once more and my harmony continues to defy
trying to define it. I grasp a lot of it, but it always seems to pull a new trick out of it." His harmony was devastating to the Fiends but he suspected it was more to do with how he saw elents in the first place.
The world was interconnected but there was on one Law about that. Harmonies seed to be leaning towards that but each person was different.
He also felt the more unique ones could not be replicated so long as a 6 elental held them. More demon 6 elentals had been born but none were like Kexin's Domination.
He had yet to encounter anyone else with his erald one either. There was an athyst one that also stood out as well.
LInd sighed as everyti he seed to get a handle on his cultivation, new twists ca up from his own discoveries. Not a single 6 elental had been able to grasp the other elental systems despite the lessons he left behind.
Artifacts could allow production masters to use them but that had been sothing all cultivators could do even before he ca along.
He pushed it all aside as he considered what to do about the heir of the clan when an idea popped into his head. The smile that spread made Delenn smirk. She almost pitied the children that had been avoiding being considered.
She really doubted they would be left alone anymore!
