Lind was happy for Helia. She had found a mate and even given birth to children. The last culprit eluded her for so many thousand of years that it beca moot.
No one knew how the 6 humans died but no one cared either. The Obsidian Clan never even looked into it.
It had the unexpected result of causing a revolt that led to the fall of the clan. Their own vassals rose up in revolt and killed them all. Other powers took advantage but Helia had moved on.
Lind had faced her heart demons with her and let her move on.
"Mama, what is this part about?" A young boy was asking about a manual for Body Refining Realm. Like her mother before her, Helia had found a human that stole her heart. Unlike her father, Jorgan had extre talent in cultivation.
He had beco a Sky Realm before turning 300 years old. For humans, that was pretty good.
She was already nearly 500,000 years old and the mont she saw his sandy blonde hair and pale amber eyes, her heart was stolen. She was a shy maiden with no idea what to do about her feelings.
Lind had long since beco quiet but in that instance he gave a few pieces of advice. He had no idea how long the trial continued but so long as it went on, he would endure.
He was well within his lifespan still but he had no idea if ti even passed for him. It was likely that it did, but he did not press for more information from the Lord of Souls.
He was concerned about the last culprit as he doubted the trial was so kind as to let them die in ignorance.
Yet, he did not interfere in Helia's life.
She chose to move on and he encouraged her to do so. Vengeance would only lead to an empty goal if that was all she followed. There was more to life than a single goal.
She had 5 children and now her youngest was starting on his path to cultivation.
Jorgan was getting ready to beco an Immortal so she was with the children. Her oldest was already 50 years old and a peak World Realm.
He was happy for her but then he felt a familiar aura close in. Helia did not feel it as she was not a weaver, but Lind did.
[Helia, they have co.] She did not imdiately respond but then a dark frown crossed her face.
"Go find Petra and she can tell you. Mommy has a guest to greet." Her baby smiled and ran off to find his eldest sister.
She transford into her dragon body that was now 7 kiloters long and flew into the sky. With Lind's help, she found the target and stripped away their formation.
A dragon with pitch black scales looked surprised to be found out so easily but they sneered at the little dragon before them. They were easily 15 kiloters long which indicated a higher level of purity.
"So, the bastard welp found . You at least had the decency to shed that human blood but then found a human pet for your mate. As stupid as your mother it seems." Helia had her blood boil but confird no others were present.
"You are the one that killed my parents." It was not a question and surprise flitted over the snout of the dragon in front of her.
"Not bad, not that it helps you at all. I killed your bitch mother and that ant with her. They scread like the pathetic weaklings they were." Helia felt rage but also pity. She saw that the dragon in front of her was jealous.
"You have no idea the happiness they felt. You have been alone, haven't you?" Dragons were prideful creatures but like all races, not everyone found a mate.
The dragon in front of her blasted black flas that glanced off the weavings set up to defend her ho.
[They can only take 2 more hits. Do not drag this out!] Lind warned her of his limits and Helia smiled.
The battle began and despite her profound foundation, the obsidian dragon was far more powerful. It had a purer bloodline than Helia and far more experience. Lind could tell it was enjoying toying with her.
He was too damned weak! He was only a Sliver Tier despite all he learned. He could not cultivate nor advance as a soul body! It was damned annoying!
No matter how he tried, his cultivation would not change.
Helia was straining her body and cultivation but it was not enough. The obsidian dragon was just too damn strong!
"Is that all you have? Honestly, I expected better of Extalia's daughter. You evaded
that night and have co so far but has becoming a mother made you weak?" Helia raged but nothing could overco the difference in power between them!
All the tricks Lind had taught her only delayed the inevitable.
"Lind, save my family! Please!" Helia was bleeding profusely from many places but she did not give in. She was cracking her ridians as she pushed more Qi than ever before. Elixirs were downed like candy but it only slowed the result.
The obsidian dragon used its tail to finally land a solid blow that Helia could not dodge. She was slamd into the ground and the weaving shattered around her. Her children were weeping as their father held them back.
Jorgan had suffered slight deviation as he had ended his cultivation early. Only the dead would miss the battle occurring just outside their ho.
Helia transford back to human form and blood was flooding off her. Her violet hair was now crimson and her arms were broken. Her legs were mangled and her eyes were bloodshot.
The massive obsidian dragon sneered down at her.
"So, that was all you were worth? I am disappointed after you so skillfully killed those humans but it just proves how useless humans are. You are a fake dragon and now your family will die with you! The impure bloodline will die here!" The dragon was mad. The Temple of Soul and Fire will respectively punish them once more.
Further, Helia had overco the trial of blood for a half breed. The Temples valued such dragons as they had endured pain few could survive. The Obsidian Clan had fallen due to their policies but now the one that killed her parents would push for its extinction.
Lind knew what was coming and for the first ti in his long life, he refused to accept his role as observer.
He had often tried to do more aside from weaving but at that mont erald flas blazed around him.
Helia was about to die when a new dragon appeared. It had 3 horns on its head and a sinuous body but large limbs.
It blazed with erald light as it stood between her and death.
[I will not allow you to kill her!] Lind had finally manifested his dragon body once more.
It was epheral but solid enough to deflect the black flas. He used all his power and felt all 18 elents answer his call. His soul was not just a part of him, it was a part of the whole.
It had the ability to summon all the power he had!
"Who are you?!" Lind ignored the question as his body beca more solid and he looked back at Helia. She recognized him and smiled.
[Live and be happy, Helia.] Lind turned back and engaged the Shard Tier. He had no chance with just his soul, but he did not care.
His Qi was shattered over and over again but the obsidian dragon could not advance one centiter further as Lind gave it his all.
He felt his life fleeing him but did not care. He no longer worried about the trial or its goals. All he cared about was saving the lives of his charge's family.
He had watched over her for 500,000 years, he would be damned if he let her die now!
"The dead should know their place!" The obsidian dragon roared as Lind was sent reeling. His soul fractured but barely held together. Erald light blazed and healed the damage to him.
He smiled like a mad fool as his teeth and claws in soul form latched on to his enemy. The obsidian dragon roared in pain but Lind did not stop.
He wove a few attacks into the very foe he faced. Pain lanced their face as their body began to wriggle powerfully.
"What did you do?!" Lind sneered as his vertically slit erald eyes looked up with resolution.
"I took a page out of the enemy handbook! Your cultivation is strong, but your soul is weak!" It was true. The obsidian dragon was a near peak Shard Tier but their soul was pathetic. It barely had the strength of a World Realm!
Lind was tossed off but the damage was done.
Helia had fled and he realized he was dying. Still, he did not give up and kept fighting until at long last, the obsidian dragon stopped breathing.
He had destroyed its soul.
He knew nothing about it, but it was dead! Lind was barely alive as the gray space took him in.
[You continue to surprise , but that was better. You changed the fate of young Helia. She lived out her days with her new Clan and had many grandchildren to love thanks to you. A far better fate than becoming the plaything of that disgraceful dragon.]
Lind realized what the Inheritance was about. He was living the lives of dragons the Lord of Souls had encountered. He was facing a trial of facets.
[Very good, you are clever. It will not stop the trials of course but it is better to have you aware. The Inheritance continues.]
Lind braced himself for the next trial.
