Lind was sprinting with Annabelle in his arms. He could not fly inside the Grand Spatial Channel due to the fact it would put too much pressure on it as it collapsed!
They had gotten about ?? of the way to the end in less than 3 days when both felt space shift. It was not like a breeze but like all their instincts scread at once of danger! He picked her up and his legs bulged as he put all his draconic strength into running.
The floor fractured at that exact point but held. He had been sprinting full out for half a day and could just barely see the end. As it was the last to be established, it would be the last part to collapse.
Sweat poured down his back but Annabelle weighed nothing to him. It was purely keeping up his peak speed that strained him now.
The sensation of space collapsing behind him suddenly spiked and his erald eyes narrowed as he pushed his body beyond its limits. The channel beca a blur as his footing felt more and more fragile.
Finally, he leapt for all he was worth. He returned to the world of light and air as the channel snapped closed behind him. The force of the spatial distortion caused a hurricane level sweep of the area but Lind was able to withstand that easily.
He protected Annabelle with his aura. He expected Shoti, Qing, or even Ethry to make so kind of comnt about barely making it through his own creation yet only silence greeted him.
He looked around and saw the ships and cultivators were perfectly fine but all were frozen looking east. He and Annabelle were confused until they floated up.
His body was exhausted but his dantian was full of power to spare. As they flew up, he saw the dark material of the bridge.
It was fractured and crumbling in a few places. It did not seem too remarkable until he flew up and saw the surface.
There were figures on it! There were trillions of figures! It was so dense it may as well have been made of souls. Lind had no idea what was going on!
He flew forward slowly and the army finally reacted to his presence. They parted and he ca to the barrier between the living Void Ocean and the dead one beneath the bridge.
There seed to be so flickers of life on the other side. It was not being consud so it was a natural recovery, perhaps?
He moved on as he took the next step. One mont, the world was normal, the next it felt like an entirely new world. The bridge was all there was.
It was cracked open down the middle like an open wound. Fractures spread in random lengths and depths but energy floated out constantly.
Lind saw the figures rging and separating constantly. It was as if they were entirely unaware of each other. They were not of any fixed race. Even a single figure flitted through the spectrum of races he knew.
He tried to speak but his voice was locked up. He had no breath! Because he was a cultivator, he was fine, yet the figures around him felt more than dead.
There was no sign of corruption or hanging on as might be found with souls lingering beyond their ti. He had t more than a few that abused loopholes to stay alive and avoid the karmic wrath while they were at it.
More than few had faced the music in the end but so had succeeded and if they restored themselves to a body, it usually suffered from severe issues. In other words, even pulling it off did not free them from showing they had broken the rules of Heaven and Earth.
None of that was going on in front of him. He gently knelt down and tried to look into the largest fissure. His eyes burned the mont he tried.
Yet, he had felt it. It was both familiar and unfamiliar at the sa ti. It was like the spirit world. Even so, it was not the sa. It was not like the world he rembered.
It was more like it was a nascent form of it. An idea took root in his mind. It was wild and crazy but he looked at the bridge in dawning horror.
It was not the Bastard that had caused it, it was him!
His desperation to stop the Bastard's plans had an unintended consequence! It was no wonder the Fiend had not tried to rebuild the bridge and hid the foundation.
They had created a bridge to the spirit world!
If it continued, all life that ever was and could be would co pouring into the Divine Lands! That was not a good thing at all!
The Bastard could not face their power directly nor refine it. It would rip him apart and possibly do the sa to his original!
For everyone else, it would cause a catastrophic collapse. Samsara would be broken forever and no one could be reborn in any form!
They would be trapped by the damned bridge!
His aura rose and the various figures finally turned to him. They recognized him as sothing now.
[I am sorry.] He bowed low and placed his hands on the bridge. Erald light spread like an infection.
The black crystals began to collapse even faster than before but they were falling into the open fracture!
Oddly, Lind felt no strain. It was as if it was the most natural thing in the world to send the spirits and souls of the dead back to where they belonged.
The collapse was not the only change. The once strange world shifted slowly back to the living Divine Lands. Blue sky, wind, and life returned.
The black crystals were consud faster and faster as the trillions of beings followed. Lind was about to stand up when a gentle caress touched his shoulder.
It was so familiar but it was impossible! He whipped his head around and his eyes went wide. Teyla! It was Teyla!
Why was she there?! Why was she still in between?!
Tears ford as her figure shifted slightly before reverting to the powerful older sister he rembered.
{Waiting–to–see–you.} Lind wept. Was that possible? Her death had been natural so far as he knew. The natural course of ti.
His Mother had kept in touch with the old Frey Clan. Her children had long since taken over the Frey Clan and made it flourish. The kingdom had essentially supported the Lotus Empire after he rose up and showed clear signs of valuing family.
They had been promoted and well taken care of.
Her visage remained stable until she looked at the now swirling energy.
It was consuming the bridge and Lind understood what was going on. His attempt to counter it had fractured reality itself. Two Master Tiers battling truly were dangerous!
If he was about defiance, then the Bastard was about consumption or absorption. It was also possible he was about shattering Heaven and Earth.
The clash of their 2 concepts at their power level had caused sothing horrific. Lind was able to tip the scales but only because he had experienced the spirit world. Without that, he doubted he could have done anything.
Teyla smiled before following the rest. She was the start of many. Not all were as clear as her but their auras brought a smile to his face as tears fell.
So many had gone before him and even lived and died again! The last few were about to vanish when a man with a simple sword on his hip appeared.
He said nothing but the crooked smile and flippant aura made him laugh.
Solon! It was Solon!
He clearly had lived several more tis but his attitude had endured to keep him getting in trouble!
He saluted with his sword before diving into the fissure as it slamd shut.
Lind now floated in midair as the wavefront gushed forward. Life flared in the Void Ocean but he turned to see every single being staring at him.
Not all knew what was going on but the Master Tiers looked at him with newfound respect and awe. He flew back and saw his wives looked at him with wet eyes.
Ethry, Qing, and Shoti were especially emotional.
The family flew up to his flagship and they followed after the front. They had a war to win.
????????
The once powerful artifacts collapsed. They were ripped apart by energies even the Great One dared not ddle in. His skin was still riddled with erald scars but it was fading.
He had run out of ti. Every tactic, sche, and reliance had been stripped away.
The shadowy figure looked at the desolate and depleted land beneath him. There were billions of Divine Fiends all looking at him in fear.
They would obey but reluctance was clear. They had no desire to be destroyed nor used up by him. He had fallen so low!
{You have failed.} His own voice suddenly bood in his head and he looked up in joy.
[You are back?! Then you can help–!] Pain lanced his body as he felt sothing ripped from him. He still had his strength but his connection to the Fiends was gone! The entire population shivered as sothing far worse seed to fall over them.
{You will make him pay. Your deaths will be made to count. If you fail , know that nothing will save you. There are no second chances.} The Great One looked on in horror.
The army moved but no longer by his command! He was abandoned! He was expected to fall! NO! He refused! He was supposed to ascend and live forever! He would not die!
