The clouds were just cool enough to quench the need to enjoy the stressful flying over the Void Ocean.
For those that flew just below the cloud layer, they were all weighed down by the dark conflict ahead.
So many had died or were now too weak to help so the few billion currently in flight brought ho how desperate the situation had beco. Many focused on honing their skills, cultivating to reach the peak of power they could, or just teaching others how to coordinate attacks and defense for the fight to co.
The grim and dreary atmosphere was pervasive in so regards yet one being never heard of it.
The golden furred True Lord Monkey King Sun was laughing as he made shapes in the clouds. He used his powerful staff artifact like it was a toy and his followers cheered on his antics.
So felt he was not taking things seriously enough but were wise enough to see the tension drain from those that looked on.
"HA HA HA! I made an elephant dance on a pin!" It was generous to call the larger blob of cloud an elephant and the smaller one a pin but the general idea got across.
Sun twirled his staff before it extended to a massive length and dispersed the clouds as he then gathered them in his palm before making what he claid was an exquisite piece of art.
It was supposed to be a landscape yet even Sun found it hard to claim success that ti. Still, he saw the quirk of a smile or the loosening of shoulders.
He knew he could not keep it up forever. Mostly, he had been confined in those thrice cursed tiny cabins in the ships and had to let so energy loose!
Now that he had, he resud his flight but the horizon always drew his eye. He could almost see the shimr where the fronts of life and death were literally battling it out.
He did not understand it, he had no need to, yet his instincts told him Divine Lord Lind Frey had done sothing ridiculous!
He dove down and skimd the surface of the Void Ocean. Normally, that would be suicidal, yet unlike others, the strain on him was far less. He was born and raised in all his lives near the coast.
A True Lord had so benefits of their Authority being affected by their origin. He was not a native of the Void Ocean yet the drain others suffered was greatly reduced on him.
He smiled as he rembered one of his mothers scolding him for going swimming in a delta that was known to be ho to Silver Eels. They were notorious for their speed and electrical power.
They also loved to snack on mainlanders back then.
His face scrunched up at the current state of the Western Continent. It was a broken land in more ways than one. Lind had saved one island but the rest had suffered not just from the Fiends, but the isolation.
He had control at the mont, yet even he knew it was impossible to rule all the islands.
He flew back up and was surprised to find Lind waiting for him in the sky. The 2 flew silently next to each other.
Their ti had been so short but he felt closer to this dragon than many of his own race. Knowing part of the truth explained why.
Not only was he reincarnated but he lived the sa life over and over again. He was the closest being to existing on the sa path as him.
[Soone said there was a wild monkey trying to use bad art to distract the crews.] Lind finally transmitted a ssage but Sun growled before his staff whirled to strike. He casually evaded as it had not been too serious.
Not too serious! It bore repeating!
[You need to make those cabins bigger! The beasts must be losing their minds while they rest!] Lind cracked a smile at his words but resud flying in silence.
They made good hearted digs at each other before Sun beca serious.
[Are you ready?] Lind nodded solemnly before he held out his hands. Sun did not understand at first but then he looked at the staff in his hands. It was a part of him but he knew he would never replace it.
A new staff weapon had been given to him but he still used the ancient weapon tied to his life. He sighed before tossing it over. Lind examined it deeply before a smile blood on his face.
A powerful aura flared and the red staff stayed the sa yet beca far more profound than ever before. Sun also felt like sothing shifted in his soul.
It was like a block that had been impossible to overco was now simply a treacherous mountain path he could walk!
The feeling passed yet he caught the staff out of instinct. That fast?!
He had barely registered anything outside yet the staff glowed with new power! Further, he felt like it was happy!
He tested it out and it felt like the other weapon had! He could kill Fiends with it!
[I am counting on you!] Lind's words made Sun smile but then the wild monkey warrior beca serious.
[I have a goal.] Lind's smile vanished and they both paused. The various ships and bodies flowed by in the blue sky with white fluffy clouds. The bright sun made it seem like a normal day but those kinds of days were long past.
[When this is over, I want to start to invite others to rebuild the Western Continent. The land is gone but the people need hope. They need a goal. They need to co together!] Lind said nothing for quite a bit of ti.
He then clapped Sun on the shoulder and gave him a thumb's up.
[At least you have the right idea. Let's make that dream co true.] Neither spoke on the misfortune being invoked but both understood.
Whichever survived, they would see that dream through.
[You will have to give up your island.] Sun smiled cheekily before zooming away after his last transmission. He felt the air shift just above his head but he only waved back.
They were that close as friends. Cultivators normally did not form such bonds easily, especially beasts, but Lind had that kind of charm that drew others in.
Sun had only told half of his goal. He wanted to support Lind in the future. The Divine Lands could not be tad but they could be made better.
Sun would see it! He would found a faction with Lind Frey at its heart and crossing the continents!
It had never been done but he felt like if Lind Frey was alive, it could happen!
The True Lord Monkey rejoined his people and quickly found out who ratted him out! He pretended to chase them to the enjoynt of others.
Sun would not stop being who he was even at the end of the world!
????????
Lind looked on from near his ship at the antics. He felt focused and refreshed but also he was glad. No matter the outco, he had done all he could. Everything would be on each person now.
He thought of Sun's dream and found he wished far more were like him but on the other hand, that might be too much chaos in the Divine Lands.
He smiled and resud his place on the top deck. He estimated the current speed and knew the first battle was coming. The Fiends could not leave their advance unanswered.
He did not know if they could break the advancing front but slow it down? Absolutely.
They could try to drain away the energy and disperse the intent. It had been based off of the Bastard's originally so it was possible.
He began to cultivate and ponder his next steps. He proceeded as if his survival was a given.
It was better to walk that path but he also now had so assurance on that. Karu had inadvertently reminded him of sothing.
While the Bastard was still the sa, he was drastically different. He had done things that caught the Bastard off guard but he had just taken for granted he could do that as he was making different choices.
He had never considered the consequences of his existence. He was not 100% certain, yet there was a glimr of an idea. He had studied so much and seen so much to now bring it together to see if his theory was right.
He ran simulations and compared it to the real world hurdles. It was possible! He could do it!
He would need so test subjects. Thankfully, a whole horde of them were coming soon enough. The Bastard would protect the bridge as it was his win condition but as soon as he realized what was happening to the Fiends, he would co.
The final battle was edging ever closer in the Divine Lands.
