"I have beco arrogant again." Lind was slumped on a mat by his tea table. He had brewed a fresh batch to calm his nerves and clear his head.
He found the whole encounter surreal for several reasons but it put a light on his arrogance.
He had succeeded to create a path for 6 elentals no one had before. He had beco a dragon soul, acknowledged by the Heavens themselves. He had beco a Divine Progenitor. He had thwarted the many sches of Fiends and ca back from death so many tis doing it.
He outwitted old monsters of cultivators and humbled ancient powers due to his legendary prowess as an elixir master. He added Forging like it was nothing to his skill set and shattered the restrictions on the weavers that had held them back for so long.
He had gathered the ancient bloodlines as his vassals and family all at once! He had defeated despots and raised 2 empires!
He had restored the 1st layer of the Celestial Fields for crying out loud!
All of that was plenty for anyone but he had not been satisfied.
He wanted it all! He had incorporated all 18 elents into himself and possibly helped start the restoration of Celestials to all of existence! He had made massive advancents in his professions and faced off against a layer wide array as if it was normal to do so.
He casually moved his plans ahead and brought kingdoms under his sway while doing so.
All of that and not once had he ever questioned if it was dangerous to do so. Not once did he ponder if perhaps he was walking a razor thin edge because he had pulled off so much before.
How many arrogant cultivators had been brought low for that exact reason? Rakathi Wastes, the Immortal Artificer, and all the others he had thwarted or learned about in his life had been felled not by enemies, but their own blindness brought by arrogance.
They had succeeded or gained power where others fell, so how could they be wrong later?
How many tis did he see the results but he still did not learn the lesson?!
He had been given a stay of execution but he had to do better. He had to remind himself that he was not an all powerful God no matter how much real power he accrued.
He was so focused on killing his enemy by any ans that he forgot to consider the consequences of his thods outside of that!
His successes were not permission! He was just damned lucky and maybe given a little leeway in the extre circumstances he found himself. Heaven was fair so when faced with the totally vile situation of the Realm Refiner and its ilk, a little rule breaking was fine.
He pushed it too far!
Now he was burdened with a secret none could know about! He could never share it with anyone in the Celestial Fields!
He had many questions about the being he t but answers would not help him at the mont. What he had to do now was re-think his goal. Could he really get away with making a body that could incorporate all 18 elents? Would that be allowed?
Was there another way he was ignoring in his pursuit of power?
"Am I no better than the Fiends?" The words left his mouth but he had not expected an answer.
[Without a shred of doubt, you are better than the Fiends, Master.] Haro spoke in his mind and Lind felt so comfort at the words. Still, he was unsure what to do now.
The spirit appeared in the flesh and looked at him grimly.
"Master, stop thinking about what rules might be broken. Instead, analyze your cultivation. Can you continue as you are?" Lind took a breath and ditated on it.
Slowly, he shook his head.
"If I do not make my body compatible with the dantian I have created, I will eventually reach a bottleneck I can never pass. There is no treasure, pill, or elixir that can get
past my unique condition as it is. I have a small window to modify and cultivate my body to match
or I scrap my cultivation entirely and start again." He ntioned the last part but both of them knew he would die.
His unique condition aside, being a True Lord was a double edged sword. The additional vitality was not given for show. It was how he paid a price for invoking his authority. He had used quite a bit and it would be applied to his mortal body if he tried to start over.
He would die, instantly at that point.
"You are forgetting your soul as well, Master. Your harmony and soul are 1 but not the sa thing. It also will need to endure the change of your body." Lind sighed as he had overlooked that!
An Immortal cannot modify a body unless it was to create one compatible with their soul. If his body and soul were currently fine, then changing his body ant changing his soul!
He looked at his erald hair and wondered what was going to happen if he ignored that particular step as his harmony might bridge the gap enough to facilitate that change.
His harmony had changed his soul and body as he beca a dragon but the elents of his body had not changed in the slightest!
If that was true then his soul was in the sa boat!
He was about to scrap everything when he froze. An Immortal crystal was ford by unifying the soul to the sliver! The sliver acted as a catalyst to transform the soul into a more powerful form as Laws were comprehended!
His soul was already modified! He looked up to find Haro smiling down at him.
"Why are you suddenly able to help
so much?" The bald spirit shrugged but the answer seed obvious. The strange being seed to have removed restrictions from Haro!
Lind felt hope bloom but then frowned. He had just berated himself for being arrogant but when answers outside the rules were held before him, he just started running ahead again!
He snorted at himself for his hypocrisy and slapped his own face hard! Haro did not seem surprised and even nodded in approval.
"You are a rule breaker, Master. It is not a bad thing all the ti but it is ti to consider what rules can be broken and which should not be. You are unique in that your own existence will require you to continue to break rules in regards to your cultivation. Outside of that, we should be more careful in the future." Lind nodded as he gathered himself up off the floor.
"Am I allowed to know what that man was?" Haro shook his head but then paused.
"He was my creator but not like you were to Protean. He does not see us that way. In that respect, Master, you may always think of him as an outsider." Lind slowly nodded as he understood what Haro was trying to tell him.
The warnings and words were likely the truth but the perspective was cold. Lind would risk it all for his family but that man would not lift a finger if it ant risking his own life.
A man who saw the world as tools.
Rules might an little to him but he would not risk dying to break them unless his survival was on the line itself.
"Haro, what would happen if we had to break the rules to beat the Fiends?" The spirit did not look away as he beca grim.
"Victory is all he would care about, Master. Life and death on the scale of consequences would only matter if he was included in the living." Lind began to understand the warning better. The Divine Key Space was a problem but it was not the problem.
The problem was the concepts he grasped that should be beyond an Immortal. New ideas were already blooming but if he walked down that path, he would beco a danger to beings that had no interest in letting him grow!
They would rather kill a threat early than let it grow up and co for them!
If he could teach others, that would be the true threat! Lind could shatter the rules of Heaven and Earth! The chaos that would unleash could not be underestimated!
A Wrath of Heaven would be the least of everyone's worries!
A cold sweat broke out on his back as he grasped how terrifying it was to be targeted by truly powerful beings he could do nothing about. Heaven and Earth were all that had kept him alive!
The Great One would have killed him a thousand tis over if not for those restrictions!
The feeling of powerlessness washed over him and anger rose again as he looked at Haro.
"Ti to fix my body and then we start the hunt for the inverted mountain! We need to break the shackles binding us all down and drive the Fiends to extinction!" Lind focused on his current goal and ultimate goal.
He may not know how, but he knew why the Fiends ca to be now. He also knew their days were numbered. If the Celestials returned, the Fiends would slowly be replaced. None of it would matter, however, if the Great One achieved his goals!
Lind summoned his new artifact and opened the Divine Key Space. He had a lot of work to do and ti waited for no one!
