Chapter 101: Chapter 9. The Escape of the Prince of the North
Shortly before these events.
Early the next morning, as agreed, Butler Phillips ca to pick up his master from the dungeon. Taking advantage of the fact that the guards were changing at the guard post at that ti, the old man managed to secretly lead him through a special way.
??Should I really trust him...??? — to be honest, the guy doubted this question until the last mont. No matter how you look at it, it all looked like an extrely risky gamble.
Jeremy Seibel could feel his heart continuing to pound wildly in his chest, but nevertheless there was no turning back. In any case, if he was destined to et his death today, he wouldn’t be able to avoid it no matter how hard he tried. Therefore, the guy to so extent just resigned himself to his fate.
Finally, they reached the back exit of the dungeon, where a carriage drawn by four horses had already been prepared. The butler, looking around and trying not to attract too much attention, helped the young man into the carriage, covering him with a coarse cloth on top.
??Good luck to you, my lord,?? the servant wished him one last ti.
— And you... Sir Phillips.
Soon the carriage was on its way, and Jeremy held his breath, feeling his heart beating faster and faster with fear and excitent. He still couldn’t believe that they were actually going to leave the Ice Duchess’ residence.
However, it seed that luck had been on his side for the first ti today. In the end, they successfully overca the main ??obstacle?? — the guards at the central gate — and soon safely left their borders.
The northern road was bumpy and winding due to snowdrifts, which made the carriage shake every now and then.
??Hold on tight, Lord de Lune,?? Jeremy heard the voice of the head of the rchant guild, who addressed him for the first ti.
??Oh...??
— Where to... Where are we going? — At that mont, the guy also plucked up the courage to ask this question.
—To the south, — the rchant replied shortly, without looking back. ??We have to leave the north before dawn.
??To the south? Really???
The thought that the guy was really going to return to his native land caused him conflicting feelings. In fact, it was just too good to be true. Therefore, the baron’s youngest son still couldn’t wait for so kind of trick that was about to overtake him.
But... Ti passed on the way, but nothing like this happened. For a mont, Jeremy Seibel even really caught fire with the hope that his life was not over yet and that he could be saved.
They drove non-stop for another whole day. The road has been quite peaceful all this ti. However, their calmness was soon disrupted. Suddenly, a piercing howl ca from the forest, and the Prince of the North felt his heart sink into his heels.
— These are the northern wolves! — The rchant suddenly cried out. — Lord de Lune, hold on!
At these words, the head of the rchant guild waved his whip and forced the horses to go faster.
??The Northern wolves? Again?!?? the guy gritted his teeth in frustration, because during his last unsuccessful escape attempt, these animals also ruined all his plans.
After all, were those saber teeth really chasing him...?!
By that ti, it was already late in the evening.
A pack of arctic wolves was running towards them through the darkness, their eyes glowing like coals in the night. They were about to surround the carriage. The guild leader, realizing that their chances of successfully resolving this situation were slim, abruptly jumped up and grabbed one of the horses by the reins.
??Master, get out quickly!??
??.....??
Jeremy had already climbed out of the carriage himself and was now absently watching the actions of the rchant.
??Take the horse and run!?? He shouted, waving his hand towards the forest. ??I’ll take the horse myself and go the other way!??
The guy, overco with panic, couldn’t believe his ears. He felt fear constrict his throat, because there really weren’t that many escape options in this situation. And to so extent, he was really touched that the head of the guild was at least sohow worried about his future well-being.
And yet...
— With you... Are you really going to be okay? — Jeremy asked uncertainly, but the rchant just shook his head.
— Don’t think about . Leave now! This is our only chance.
The guy’s heart was bursting with heaviness, but he understood that now he had no other way out. Thus, Jeremy jumped onto the horse and quickly pulled on the reins. The rchant, after taking one last look at the young man, ran up to another horse and quickly saddled it. Waving the torch, he attracted the attention of the wolves, who were already rapidly approaching, and forced them to follow him.
The baron’s youngest son gripped the reins in his hands and felt the horse bucking under him in fright, but he forced himself to concentrate. He turned in the other direction of the forest, opposite to the one from which the wolves had co, and without looking back, he ran away. My heart was pounding in my chest. Jeremy could hear the howling behind him, but he forced himself to keep his composure. At this mont, his only goal was to survive.
The dark forest swallowed him up, and the prince of the north, rushing through the trees, felt his fear gradually give way to determination. He knew that no matter what, he had to do his best to survive today.
Jeremy Seibel continued to ride tirelessly for a whole day. Until, eventually, his horse couldn’t stand it and ran out of steam. Already outside the northern lands, slipping on a pile of autumn leaves, the horse gave way and threw off its rider.
??!!!??
Jeremy, who had not expected this in any way, swiftly flew down. He continued to roll on the ground until he finally fell into a ravine, where he hit his head and lay unconscious for almost two days.
