Staring at his own gear, Du You didn’t hold much hope this ti. He could only browse materials to see whether sothing would catch his attention.
Most of the goods registered on the materials board weren’t suitable for him, but there was always sothing useful in the capital city.
Suddenly, Du You spotted an unusual item: the Baitan fruit.
Baitan Fruit: A fruit imbued with a potent dark power.
Whether this was a fruit or material, Du You wasn’t sure. There were no tags, no information about potential use, it was simply lying there, leaving one to wonder its purpose.
"Why isn’t there detailed information about this item?" Du You asked aloud.
"You’re asking about the Baitan Fruit? A guest left it here. It’s imbued with strong dark power but the power is so stable that it can’t be used for potion brewing or crafting equipnt. Even if you feed it to a magical beast with a dark attribute, the beast can hardly absorb such stable power. It’s basically useless."
Du You nodded, "I see. Could you contact the owner for ? I’m interested in obtaining this item." Du You could feel a tingling sensation telling him that he needed this fruit.
He suppressed the urge. The owner probably didn’t value this item much, leaving it here for anyone to take a look.
Soon, a figure completely clad in black appeared before Du You.
"So you want to exchange for the Baitan Fruit? I need to know your plan for it."
Du You frowned, "How I use it is my business."
"I understand. Usually, it’s inappropriate to ask, but I need to know how you plan on harnessing its power to evaluate its value."
Du You laughed, "This fruit has its uses, but how I use it is my secret. I can tell you, though, it’s not as valuable as you think and rather useless for most people."
Du You knew this because of his special physique granted by his Night Body, allowing him to digest the fruit. Without this unique Dark Physique, one could hardly absorb the power, resulting in a waste of dark power.
Asking others to reveal their secrets was taboo. Du You didn’t accept the man’s reasoning.
The man fell silent. Unable to discern the other man’s expressions, Du You had no idea what he was thinking.
After a long silence, the man spoke up, "If you don’t tell what this can be used for, how can I set a price?"
"That’s your problem. I am only a buyer. Or, you can tell what you want to exchange." Du You began to lose patience. Were these secrets so casually revealed?
Even prestigious establishnts kept the thods of using special materials secret. If one wants to buy, they must pay a high price. Nobody would casually reveal these thods.
The man stayed silent for a while longer, growing impatient. He said loudly, "Fine, I want to exchange it for a dark attribute bloodline." His voice was no longer as hoarse as before.
Du You’s smile turned colder, "You’re asking for too much. This fruit cannot be compared to the value of a bloodline."
Du You did have a bloodline, a Demon bloodline, which was quite worthwhile. Hunters of this tier began to pursue bloodlines. However, expecting to exchange a bloodline for an unknown fruit was laughable.
Upon hearing Du You, the man hesitated. He feared that Du You wouldn’t make the purchase. He had already paid plenty in fees to keep the fruit here for a long ti.
However, he also understood from Du You’s words that Du You did have a dark attribute bloodline.
Unwilling to give up, he thought for a while before finally saying, "I have plenty of items here. You can take what you want in exchange. Just don’t take advantage."
Du You casually replied, "It sounds like soone has been trying to rip off."
The man didn’t respond, but Du You could guess so things. The man was likely a lucky Professional who lacked backing from a powerful entity. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so clueless about the market.
Prices were usually not so arbitrary for Professions. There’s always those who can’t assess their own worth. No matter how the man thought, Du You started reading the list of items the man had.
After a while, Du You calculated in his mind and said, "Add these two second-tier Dark Elent Stones and this Heart Protection Mirror." With that, he pulled out his Demon Bloodline.
"It’s only a basic Demon Bloodline. Though it’s a dark attribute, it belongs to the Demon category and isn’t that impressive."
The man seed slightly unwilling, but Du You bluntly said, "This is my final offer. If you don’t agree, we’ll leave it at that, and I’ll look for sothing else."
Upon hearing Du You’s impatient words, the man finally yielded. "Fine, I agree."
Bloodlines weren’t easy to find, and although a Demon Bloodline could influence one’s thinking, a high potential dark attribute bloodline was rare.
If he missed this opportunity, he might not get another chance. Seeing the man agree to the trade, Du You finally breathed a sigh of relief.
If the man didn’t agree, Du You didn’t want to suffer a loss. After the trade, Du You quickly stowed the items in his personal space. He imdiately equipped the Heart Protection Mirror.
Heart Protection Mirror: Can block one fatal attack. (Deep Red)
No one would think that one of these life-saving items is too many. The last ti, the protective cross helped him withstand an attack. If not for the cross, although he wouldn’t have died, he surely would’ve suffered.
Though the description for the Heart Protection Mirror was simple, Du You knew that even the regular attacks from a third-tier Colonist could be blocked once. This made Du You feel much more secure.
Seeing Du You put everything away, the man seed to want to say sothing, but Du You, tired of dealing with this never-content man, turned and walked away.
