"This is really terrifying." Du You did not know whether he was talking about the terrifying world, the Heavenly Disaster Beasts, or those people.
No matter what, he thought, he should first stick to his own plan.
The shaking gradually stopped. Du You didn’t know how severe this earthquake was, but it didn’t do any damage here. The people here were long accustod to such phenona.
"Hey, what are you doing? Why are you going out now? The Earthquake Disaster just shook, and there are Giant Beasts running around outside. It’s dangerous to go out now." It was the sa two gatekeepers of the town.
"No worries, I have my thoughts." Du You said while stepping out of the small gate.
The two n behind him shook their heads and sighed, as if they were looking at a man about to et his doom.
Little did they know that what Du You was not worried about Giant Beasts running around, but the Beasts hiding and launching a sneak attack. He had no choice but to worry, as his perception ability had reached thirty ters, but it was not very effective against Giant Beasts.
For many Giant Beasts, their attack range was far beyond thirty ters. If they hid, by the ti he was sneak attacked, he would have very little ti to dodge.
Having left the city, Du You ran down the road. According to the map that Ma Can had left him and so recent rumors, he had a few targets in mind.
"Stop there, kid." Suddenly, a shout ca accompanied by the sound of gusting wind. Du You imdiately stood still.
He sensed that the attack was not aid at him. As expected, next mont a giant fork stuck into the ground inches in front of him. If he had continued to run down the road at his pace, it’s very likely he would have been hit. The two-ter-long fork was clearly designed to deal with Giant Beasts, indicating that the person who had just launched it was a Giant Beast Hunter.
A chill flashed in his eyes as Du You turned to look at the person who had just attacked him.
Behind him, two young n were rushing towards him. The man ahead held a chain in his hand, the other end of which was wrapped around the large fork; it was clear he was the one who had just attacked. The man followed by another in hunter attire, carrying a huge fork on his back. The twin-pronged fork with a large blood groove was specifically designed to deal with Giant Beasts, it was the mainstream weapon used here.
"What are you trying to do?" Du You was alert. The tags of ’Level 10’ on both their heads.
If it was just one of them, Du You could at least be confident to try and fight them, but against both, he was certainly not their opponent. Maybe he even wouldn’t have a chance to run away. Existence of a level 10, akin to a Semi-Professional, would be hard for him to fight against.
The man in front quickly circled around him and plucked the fork out. The two stood on either side of Du You. Were they preventing him from escaping? A gleam passed through Du You’s eyes.
At this mont, Du You had readied his Soul Extinguishing Arrow. If either made the slightest move against him, he would attack instantly. A surprise attack should allow him to take down one. Yet, these two were being very vigilant.
"We know you are a Professional and you have many unique skills. We won’t let our guards down."
The man who had attacked spoke: "You may call Ya Lie, and this is my little brother, Yasu. We ca to find you because we want to negotiate a deal."
"What kind of deal?" Hearing that, Du You exhaled. They seed to be after him because of his Professional status; they probably wouldn’t attack him.
"We need you to help us leave this world. We’ve prepared an Equal Contract. As long as you sign it, you can guide us out. We’ve had enough of this world."
Du You laughed coldly. "You’ve got to be kidding. I can’t even go back myself now. And speaking of Equal Contracts, those require even more Crystal Coins. Do you know what Crystal Coins are? How can I afford to bring you along?"
Ya Lie answered without hesitation: "Of course we know. It’s not like we didn’t do anything during these years. We didn’t cultivate to the second tier, not because our talent is poor, but because we intentionally suppressed it."
Intentional suppression, were these two planning all along?
"According to your ranking, we are level 10, at the peak of the first tier. So, an Equal Contract will only cost 10,000 Crystal Coins per person to get us out."
"Heh, aren’t you two rather optimistic? 10,000 Crystal Coins is not a small amount. Even the Crystal Coins for trading are not so easily obtained." Were these two really so greedy?
Yasu pointed his fork at Du You. "Shut up. Let my brother finish."
Ya Lie motioned with his palm. "Since we’ve proposed this sche, of course we will accomplish it. We can sign a temporary contract, so we can help you in hunting the Beasts. Although hunting Beasts from our world is difficult, the gains are huge. If we go all out, by the ti you are assimilated, you should have enough. Let’s pull together."
"Ha, what benefit does it serve by betting everything to bring you guys along?"
"There are benefits, of course. First, you can save your life. Secondly, we can assist you in hunting the Beasts. Though with our help, your kill would not qualify as a Main Quest, but if we kill a level 10 Beast, as long as you participate in the fight and cause so damage, the Quest will count as complete."
Du You squinted his eyes. Surprisingly, these two had a better understanding of Professionals, better even than him. They must have planned this for a long ti.
"I have my own opportunities. Why should I pay such a huge price to carry you two? Besides, if I die, do you know how long you’ll have to wait for the next Professional?"
"Yes, brother, I heard that the last Professional ca more than a decade ago. We might have to wait even longer for the next one."
"Shut your mouth. You have to accept this deal. Otherwise, we don’t mind waiting a bit longer."
"Plus, you must sign a contract with us. After taking us away, you must enable us to live a normal life in your world. And in the future, you must never beco our enemy. If we need any help, you must help us solve the issue. This includes our identities too, as they are very important in your world."
Were they treating him as their nanny? Du You thought to himself, chuckling inwardly.
