Du You looked at Li ngyao beside him with tenderness, his heart aching slightly. Although it hadn’t been wholly satisfying, it would have to do. Right now, if Du You wanted to fully enjoy himself, it wouldn’t be possible without seeking out Lin Yucha and Lin Yushi.
Just as Du You was preparing to rest, the door silently opened, and this ti, it was Xi Qianxue who entered.
Du You’s eyes lit up, and he stepped forward to pull her into his arms.
"Didn’t you say I couldn’t touch you? What made you co over suddenly tonight?"
Xi Qianxue softly replied, "Isn’t it because of ngyao? Who would’ve thought you’d wait until today... Hmph, making a girl take the initiative, you really have no sense of responsibility." Xi Qianxue’s tone carried an undeniable grievance.
Du You felt a bit helpless; for these sorts of things, his personality simply didn’t allow him to take the lead.
"I missed you." Xi Qianxue’s faint voice echoed from within Du You’s embrace. There was no need for excessive words at this mont.
Du You picked her up and returned to the previous spot. What followed was another whirlwind of passion.
The next morning, as Li ngyao slowly opened her eyes, she found Du You lying beside her, and a warmth filled her heart. However, when her gaze shifted, she unexpectedly noticed Xi Qianxue lying not far away in the sa state as her.
Li ngyao’s lips pouted slightly, showing a hint of dissatisfaction as well as resignation. Eventually, she had to settle for tapping Xi Qianxue gently with her finger to wake her from her fatigue.
Since it wasn’t her first ti, Du You had been more uninhibited with Xi Qianxue, especially since she arrived later. Thus, Xi Qianxue had been even more worn out compared to Li ngyao and was still deeply asleep.
"Ah, ngyao, you’re awake as well? Let sleep a little longer; I’m so tired," Xi Qianxue mumbled.
Li ngyao retorted irritably, "Explain yourself. What is going on here?"
"What do you an? It’s pretty much the sa as with you," Xi Qianxue replied casually, ultimately failing to go back to sleep. The two began to bicker incessantly early in the morning. Though seemingly unchanged from before, a subtle shift had taken place in their relationship.
Du You stayed out of their argunt, lying in the middle with amusent as he watched them. This, too, was their way of interacting. Just as importantly, it was through such banter that both won were defining their positions and figuring out their future dynamics.
As for the specifics, Du You couldn’t discern them clearly, feeling it was wiser not to ddle in matters between won.
By the ti Du You led the two out of the room, it was already noon.
"Congratulations, Master, for finally having your wish granted." Out of nowhere, Lin Yushi popped up to greet him.
Not far away, Lin Yucha was busy preparing als with Shaliya. Du You rolled his eyes in mock irritation, but there wasn’t really much to argue about, leaving him only to chuckle sheepishly.
Over the next few days, Du You did nothing but spend quality ti at ho with everyone. He didn’t even bother with his near-level-up skills or advancing his own tier — he just wanted to soak in the warmth of ho.
Yes, this finally felt like ho. Before, there had always been a sense of solitude and detachnt.
Lin Yushi and Lin Yucha, the two sisters, were often overly respectful, making Du You feel like sothing was missing. In contrast, Li ngyao and Xi Qianxue, unbothered by his status, power, or position, interacted with him as equals.
Yet, as Du You enjoyed this dostic tranquility, external turmoil never ceased.
The fact that Du You remained out of sight had allowed certain rumors to circulate, suggesting sothing might have happened to him. This led to unease within the company for so ti.
Apart from the internal unrest, there were many who secretly contacted others or were bribed by outside forces.
In short, a multitude of hidden machinations arose. What surprised Du You most, however, was his failure to pinpoint who among external actors had the highest likelihood of stirring trouble. Those causing the biggest stirs lacked the capacity to orchestrate such sches.
So minor factions had ties to larger powers, yet investigation revealed that even these forces weren’t behind the anomalies. Those truly capable of pulling the strings showed no signs of exposure.
The Shadow Council, an organization under heavy scrutiny, showed no discernible changes.
Headquartered in the European Alliance, the Shadow Council was geographically far removed, and even its regional branches hadn’t demonstrated any responses to the unfolding chaos locally. This left Du You scratching his head.
"Your Majesty, continuing to search for them without results isn’t a viable solution. If this situation drags on, our company might face severe problems," Shaliya said worriedly.
The territory, on the other hand, wasn’t at much risk, as its managent relied entirely on loyal residents and soldiers. Moreover, since the territory as a whole belonged solely to Du You, no outsiders could interfere.
However, the company was a different story. To operate effectively, it required not only a large number of Earth Professionals but also an extensive workforce of ordinary employees. Of course, these civilians had signed confidentiality agreents and were remarkably skilled. Otherwise, the company would prefer employing Semi-Professionals over regular workers.
One upside to recent company unrest was the exposure of many problematic individuals who either jumped ship or were caught in the act, leading to a sweeping cleanup operation. The company had been purged from top to bottom.
So previously-hidden tricks and sches among personnel had finally co to light.
In summary, the company’s atmosphere and security had markedly improved post-cleaning.
However, letting the turmoil continue wasn’t sustainable. Prolonging it could very well lead to the company’s collapse, and rebuilding afterward would be exceedingly difficult. Such an outco would be completely counterproductive.
That was why Shaliya prompted Du You to make an appearance and pacify the situation.
"Our enemies are well-hidden. Not a single one has revealed themselves under these circumstances. It seems identifying them won’t be feasible anyti soon," Du You sighed. These individuals were remarkably patient.
After all, last ti, Du You had rely entered Void Turbulence rather than sustaining injuries, and there were enough witnesses to indicate this fact. Those pulling the strings behind the scenes likely knew. Entering Void Turbulence posed no actual danger for soone of Tier Seven.
As a Tier Seven, he wouldn’t starve, be hard by Void Turbulence, or lose his Tier Seven territory — eventually, he’d return.
What puzzled him most was that nobody had targeted his Tier Seven territory, which was already public knowledge.
"Forget it, no point overthinking. Let’s focus on strengthening ourselves for now. Tomorrow — no, today — I’ll make an appearance to address the situation. Shaliya, let Li Minglu make the necessary arrangents," Du You resolved, deciding to act without delay.
Unbeknownst to him, Li Minglu had already prepared everything on his end.
