"There’s no such rule, I haven’t heard of it." Du You spread his hands.
"Haha, kid, you’re amusing. You’re qualified to be my opponent. Indeed, there’s no such rule."
This was an unspoken tradition, not officially written anywhere, so Du You wasn’t wrong. But challenging soone at a higher tier was universally seen as an act of arrogance and overestimation.
"You can call Black Fog, kid. What do they call you?" The swirling black fog spoke.
"You can just call Anyin," Du You said calmly, without disclosing his real na.
In places like this, no one would reveal their true na. Giving out a na wasn’t inherently dangerous, but it could expose certain details. If they encountered soone proficient in prophecy, their secrets could be bared.
Even though no one dared to assault others here, precautions were still necessary.
"Alright, kid, let’s go!" With that, the black fog spread waves of dark mist across the surroundings. Du You noticed that the Divine Power in the area was being continuously absorbed and neutralized by the opponent. Without Divine Power, it beca impossible to manipulate the Laws.
Du You understood why this guy was so difficult to deal with. But too bad for him — Du You wasn’t like those others. He was a Spellcaster. Advancing in this profession inherently involved relying on one’s own power.
He didn’t need to disperse Magic Power to connect with Heaven and Earth Laws; he could simply use his own strength.
Though the environnt here made his consumption higher than usual, Du You’s recovery ability was formidable. Even without relying on the Dark Spirit Light, his recovery speed couldn’t be underestimated.
Du You didn’t unleash any other thods and simply used the Shadow Spirit Light Ball. The Soul Devouring Demon Fla attached to the light ball could also burn away his opponent’s power, putting both sides at a stalemate.
As for the streaks of attacks released by Black Fog, Du You didn’t waste ti with fancy maneuvers. He simply deployed his Dark Absorption, nullifying the opponent’s attacks and even absorbing the surrounding black mist.
Though Du You wasn’t sure what other killing moves the opponent might have, the visible attacks were clearly weak. They seed intended to wear down the enemy over ti. Yet, Du You was least afraid of such drawn-out tactics, leaving both sides in apparent equilibrium.
"Impressive, I didn’t expect soone who hasn’t reached mid-tier level seven to have this level of power."
The opponent referred to tier seven but didn’t ntion True God, indicating they weren’t a Divine Spirit.
Or perhaps this mass of black fog was an entity nurtured by a special world. After all, there were systems that calculated by tier levels and those that relied on Divine Spirit designations. Both systems were widespread.
Their relentless combat caused the surrounding Dark Law to gradually manifest. Along with it, related Laws appeared, providing Du You with opportunities for comprehension.
These insights were direct, far clearer than what he could glean from observing from a distance, and much better tailored to him personally.
In combat, both Du You and Black Fog gradually entered a special state of comprehension. A burgeoning sense of clarity ca to Du You, and the level-64 barrier before him started to fade.
Unfortunately, before it entirely disappeared, their fight was cut short. The duel arena had a built-in ti limit. They couldn’t allow battles to drag on forever, as that would hinder others.
Thus, the two were simultaneously ejected, their fight abruptly halted. Du You felt a pang of loss and could only wait for another chance.
"Master, how effective was it?" Lin Yushi skipped over and whispered.
"Very effective. Another two bouts of fighting, and perhaps we’ll be able to advance in level again. You two should give it a try as well, but rember not to expose too many techniques — one or two are sufficient."
"Don’t worry, Master, we understand." Having seen Du You test it out, the twin sisters didn’t hesitate.
Over the next few days, Du You sparred with the sisters individually several tis and also gleaned insights from the lingering waves of energy from other battles. The extent of his gains remained uncertain.
But Du You was confident that this ti, he’d be able to push his level higher when he returned.
Moreover, there were many hidden benefits he’d fully realize later. Though he hadn’t acquired any Law Crystals, this thod was safe, reliable, and enduring. Its advantages were too apparent.
The competition lasted over two months.
It ended not because they wanted to leave, but because the ti was up. Maintaining these arenas consud trendous amounts of energy, and the Fire Cloud Sky Lord couldn’t keep providing resources indefinitely.
At the very end ca the selection process. Those with suitable attributes and the confidence to test their strength arrived at the arena for the final trials. Those who succeeded could join the Fire Cloud Sky Lord’s faction.
It was said that success had been rare for years. The Fire Cloud Sky Lord was incredibly selective — out of thousands of trials, only about thirty people had ever been chosen.
"Let’s go. Next is the Fire attribute showcase; it’s not of much use to us."
Du You addressed the twin sisters. While he was tempted to watch, he had been feeling restless lately. Perhaps it was due to Lin Yushi alerting him that soone had been targeting them.
The sisters nodded subtly and, maintaining vigilance, began delicately relocating with Du You toward the outer area.
Yet, as soon as they began to move, they realized they were being followed. Du You was now certain — they were indeed being targeted.
"Hurry, let’s move. There are quite a few coming after us; hopefully, more people choose to stay behind."
Du You didn’t know why they would target him, but the current outlook was grim. If tier-seven mid-tier individuals were this plentiful, encountering tier-seven late-tier ones would an real danger.
Luckily, so far, he had only detected three tier-seven mid-tier presences — none higher. Thanks to his recent advancents, Du You felt more confident about facing them. As long as he could hold them off and escape, it would be fine.
Direct combat wasn’t in Du You’s plans. He knew he couldn’t win.
Though Du You was self-assured, he wasn’t foolish. At tier-seven, he hadn’t yet attained the ability to fight multiple opponents. While moving toward the exit, Du You started crafting strategies to escape quickly without wasting too much ti.
