After sorting out the spoils from this mission, Du You’s attention landed on the last notebook. "I wonder if it contains any information about magic."
Du You mused, though he didn’t harbor much hope.
Mages have their habits. They usually store magic knowledge in their heads. Any record left behind is generally crafted into magic books since so things simply can’t be docunted in words alone.
This notebook was clearly a regular one, so it was unlikely to contain advanced magic knowledge.
In essence, the Undead Mage might not have recorded his magic knowledge at all or perhaps it’s recorded elsewhere. Either way, Du You had no way of making guesses here.
Opening the notebook, he activated the translation function. The deeper Du You read, the more odd his expression grew.
"This, is way too lodramatic. Who would have thought I would encounter this kind of thing?"
The notebook indeed recorded the life story of Karl. The mage, nad Karl, was originally an apprentice of the Wos Empire’s Imperial Court Mage. His teacher was an Imperial Court Mage of the empire.
Due to his handso looks, during one entry into the Imperial Palace, he caught the eye of a noblewoman, and the two fell in love.
The result was a clichéd lodrama. The king, upon discovering their romance, disapproved and had Karl imprisoned. However, Karl refused to yield even after being captured.
Enduring various tortures, his appearance was ruined and the scars on his body were left as permanent reminders.
After the noblewoman secretly set him free, he fled from the Wos Empire.
Later, upon learning about the death of his beloved, Karl blad it on those who were envious of him and directed all his hatred towards the Wos Empire. However, with his power, he was in no position to impact the Wos Empire.
Over a decade ago, Karl arrived at the Border City, intending to retaliate against the Wos Empire using the strength of the Beastn.
A few years prior, Karl found the Black Fla Iron ore vein and discovered the Dark Elent Stone within it. This led him to focus on Undead Magic, intending to use the Dark Elent Stone to create a Dried Corpse Army.
At the right mont, he planned to unleash the Dried Corpse Army to destroy the Border City, hoping the Beastn would aid his revenge.
This was indeed a lodramatic story. Wanting to obliterate a human empire for a woman, he was truly mad.
One couldn’t exactly say who was right or wrong in this situation, but as a human, Du You definitely wouldn’t take a liking to such characters.
The latter part of the notebook mixed Karl’s yearning and hatred towards the Wos Empire. Additionally, here was where things related to magic showed up.
Yet there wasn’t magical knowledge, but research notes on the creation of Dried Corpses instead.
Although these notes were of no use for magic cultivation, they shed light on Karl’s achievents and natural talent at producing Dried Corpses. If the Dried Corpse Giant Monster had been completed, it would have been at least a level 10 creature.
Although this Derived World was not small, the upper limit here was level 10. No one could handle such a creature.
"What an unfortunate sod. Even his mories are fake. Even if you succeeded, you wouldn’t have been able to take revenge, because the Wos Empire never existed in the first place."
Du You sighed. As a Professional, he was well aware that this Derived World only consisted of the northern region.
The so-called empire and Beastn didn’t exist. They only existed in their own impression. Any Professional wanting to leave the northern region would find no way to enter the other regions.
"Still, evidence like this is at least valuable. I’ll take it back."
After so thought, Du You put it away.
Subsequently, Du You looked at the Dark Elent Stone.
Dark Elent Stone: Material, unique to this world.
"Watch, do you have any information on the ’unique to this world’ aspect in your records?" The watch was unable to connect to the Magic Network in the Derived World, so it only contained recorded information, any unreferenced data would be unknown.
Fortunately, the watch did have the data and quickly provided the necessary info.
Unique to this world referred to this chunk of Dark Elent Stone. Only one could appear in this world. Once he took it away, a second one would definitely not appear in the future, no matter how many tis the cycle repeated.
This didn’t an that there would be no more Dark Elent Stone in the world, but that any evolved Dark Elent Stone would carry a marker rendering it unusable by Professionals. Many treasures that appeared in the Derived World were marked this way.
"It seems like I can’t rely on this world to grind for Dark Elent Stones."
Du You sighed in resignation. He would need to find Dark Elent Stones in other worlds. After all, these things were more common in Otherworlds.
After resting for the night, Du You didn’t linger anymore. He climbed onto Xiaozi and flew straight to Border City.
The Mission Hall was now eerily quiet. With the students gone, fewer people ca to carry out missions.
"Can you register this for , the mission to explore the Black Fla Iron vein?"
"Sure, could you share the specifics?" The registration staff mber quickly wrote down the relevant details.
"Not a problem. There was an Undead Mage planning to..." As Du You began to speak, he was t with incredulous stares from those around him.
The recording officer hastily interjected, "Hold on, you should discuss this matter personally with General Luo Ha. Such classified information shouldn’t be shared in a public setting." The surrounding people quickly lowered their heads.
They knew what they could hear, and what they couldn’t.
Not saying another word, Du You decided it was best to follow the rule. After all, his rit for this achievent was guaranteed. He had accomplished this all on his own, without even a single soldier assisting.
Before long, General Luo Ha, in the midst of his duties, appeared in the Mission Hall, "Follow . I need a quiet room prepared and no one is to approach it."
"As you command, sir." The surrounding guards scattered quickly. This was a major issue affecting the entire Border City— not anyone could ddle in it.
Entering the room, with a solemn expression, General Luo Ha said, "You can tell now. What have you discovered? Do not speak carelessly. This matter can affect your future."
Du You nodded lightly, truthfully not caring much. His future was not determined by a Derived World. As Du You told his tale, General Luo Ha’s expression grew more and more serious.
