Hive burned, crying in agony.
He collapsed onto the floor, his psychic energy slowly fading away, as did his life.
Until nothing remained but a burnt corpse.
"We did it, we killed one of them...!" Lucia said.
"We’ve been chased by these bastards all this ti... and we finally took one down, damn it," Chris Bluefield said, smiling lightly. "It feels good."
"Hm," Jake nodded, joining them after quickly recovering. "But this... is not over."
The trio faced more zombies and mutants crawling toward them, roaring angrily and hissing furiously, as they rapidly resud their battle.
anwhile, in the skies, Athyst and Triton faced their new opponents, two aliens from another world known as Mutant Espers, said to be among the strongest beings one could find on Earth.
"Damn lizard! Won’t you stop shining all the ti?! Gyaaaahhh!"
The most monstrous of the Mutant Espers, a giant brain with tentacles and eyes, roared angrily. His eyes fired beams of psychic energy toward Athyst, constantly bombarding her with attacks.
However, Athyst countered his beams with those from her bright scales, rapidly intercepting each one with extre precision.
This was actually pretty hard to do, and Athyst was fully concentrating on it!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"I’ve got you!"
However, at that mont, Athyst was caught off-guard. Fully concentrating on overcoming her foe’s special attacks worked against her favor, as the Mutant suddenly appeared behind her, moving at lightning speed from one place to another.
His long tentacles, covered in hard bony spears, unleashed a barrage of deadly blows at her back, beginning to crack and tear off several of her scales.
"U g h ?!"
Athyst was surprised. She had beaten Umbral and thought herself at Drake’s level already, soone who was completely immune to the attacks of these mutants.
However, she had beco too cocky. Athyst had not effectively gauged just how strong these mutants truly were until now!
"Gyahahaha! Did you think I was weak or sothing?! We Mutant Espers are the pinnacle of humanity! We are superior! A lizard like you with shiny scales, what else can you even do?!"
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
"Tch!"
Athyst gritted her sharp teeth as she resisted the incoming blows with her arms. Then she summoned several crystal blades out of thin air, encompassed by bright holy light, firing them at the mutant at rapid speed.
"W-Wha...?!"
The giant floating eye was taken aback. His powerful psychic barrier activated barely in ti, as the crystal blades stopped just short of striking him down and shattered into pieces.
Athyst’s eyes widened as the mutant giggled, his psychic powers turning into hundreds of gigantic hands grabbing her entire body.
"Aaaagh!"
As Athyst scread in disbelief and horror, the mutant giggled.
"Gyehehehe! You’re weak! You’re far too weak, you damned lizard! Hmm, but aren’t you a pretty piece of art? Perhaps I’ll keep you around for my collection! As my beautiful, beautiful zombie, that’s it!"
"Nnngh...! DON’T TOUCH EEEE!"
Athyst roared, her power surging as an eruption of divine energy erged from her body, bombarding the mutant with countless explosive beams.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"Ugh!"
His psychic constructs were destroyed one by one, as the mutant rapidly amassed his power into a single point, manifesting a transparent sphere of psychic energy.
"YOU DARE FIGHT BACK?!"
He fired the sphere toward Athyst, and it exploded, twisting and distorting space before her. She felt her skin and scales being torn off and absorbed by what seed to be a literal tiny black hole, whose gravitational force only grew with each second.
"What the hell is this?!"
"{Gravity Hole}! Gyahahahaha! PERISH, YOU INSOLENT LIZARD!"
"You damn bastards even got the ti to na your techniques? Seriously... And I thought you were just mindless monsters."
Athyst clicked her tongue as her Divinities surged from her body one by one. Her aura erupted with force, and her body’s regeneration increased trendously.
RUMBLE!
Hundreds of crystal pillars erged from her body, imbued with her divine power. They pierced through the psychic bubble and destroyed it, even though the majority of these pillars were destroyed as well.
Then Athyst quickly summoned her Archetype’s sword, annoyed that she was pushed this far when she just wanted to fight on her own and swung it down.
"HAAAAH!"
"That won’t work, stupid idiot!"
The Mutant Esper laughed at Athyst’s plan, but his face rapidly twisted in disbelief as her sword broke through his barrier and rushed toward his body.
"AAAAGH! NO!"
He scread, rapidly trying to escape, only for Athyst’s crystals to appear behind him. A large number of crystal boulders that had fallen off her body fused into several gigantic crystal hands, punching him back toward her.
"Are you serious?!"
He couldn’t believe it, but Athyst had trained her magic to the extent she could even control crystal pieces that fell off her own body, although only for a few hours after they fell, before she lost control completely.
But this opened many new ways to use her powers and her body’s unique abilities, and her favorite was this!
"D-DON’T YOU DAREEEEE!"
The Mutant Esper scread, his psychic powers surging to their maximum as dozens of Gravity Holes were summoned at once, bombarding Athyst from every angle.
BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
"Aahahaha! HAHAHAHA! You almost got , lizard! But this is as far as you go! Now let’s see what bloody ss you’ve been left as!"
The Mutant Esper laughed, expecting Athyst to be torn to shreds after all those Gravity Holes pierced through her body.
However.
FLAAASH!
Bright golden light surged from Athyst’s crystalline body as her entire form changed. Her body beca covered in golden and silver steel, and her flesh and blood blazed, turning into burning golden flas.
Her wings transford completely into silver and golden blades, and her eyes glowed with a domineering, all-powerful force.
"W-WHAT IS THAT?!"
The Mutant Esper was left shocked as he saw Athyst not only survive but transform into a completely bizarre being...
