I heard little footsteps approaching, as I noticed my children peeking from outside through the open door. It looks like they wanted to see the new kids.
"Shall we let them see the kids?" I wondered. "I bet they're curious… Don't worry, they will behave."
"O-Of course, it's fine right?" Surtr asked his wives.
"As long as they behave and aren't too loud," Nadia nodded.
"Yes," Mina agreed.
"Alright, co inside slowly, kids, don't make noise, okay?" I asked.
The girls and their brother nodded, as they stepped inside silently. I was surprised that even Drakda obeyed and was nice enough to not be loud either… I guess I had been underestimating him, he's a smart boy.
They walked towards the big, comfortable beds that Surtr had created for his wives, where my children t their new friends.
"They're Mirtr and Sudiartr." I said. "Be polite and greet them gently."
"Hi…" Benladra said with a smile, as the little Mirtr responded to her words, slowly extending his tiny hand. "Heheh…"
She let him grab her finger with his tiny hand, it was a strong grip, could probably break a normal hand with that, but Benladra handled it fine.
"Oh… small."
Kate looked at Sudiartr with curious eyes, the sa way she used to look at Drakda, especially when he was just born.
Sudiartr looked at her in silence, she still was very sleepy but seed to be a curious little girl about the world around her.
"Ooohhh…"
And Drakda only looked at the two babies from a safe distance, and then at .
"What is it, son?"
"Fire dwagon?"
"Yes, they're fire dragons. The first to be born in… many thousands of years. It is a great addition to our family. From now on, they're your valuable friends, but I also hope you could one day see them as siblings." I said.
"Sure…" Benladra nodded.
"It's fine…" Kate agreed.
"Okay!" Drakda said.
"Good kids…"
Eventually, the two babies fell asleep completely, and with Surtr, we decided to leave their mothers sleeping with their kids. We already served them a good dinner to fill up their bellies from all the energy they lost through the birthing process as well.
The day ca to an end already, and there were still a lot of things in my mind. After dinner, I dedicated so ti to my disciple and friend, Surtr, inside of his Divine Realm, atop a large mountain.
"So how does it feel to be father?" I asked.
"It's… a strange feeling, honestly," he muttered. "I don't know… I can't really describe it."
"It's strange, right? I also felt weird the first ti," I laughed. "It's a whole new world of responsibilities, Surtr. It's no longer a world where you and your wives' matter, but your kids co first of all, you'll have to dedicate a lot of your life to raise them, love them, and make sure they're respectable adults one day… I am still in the process too, but with each day, my Benladra becos bigger and bigger, she's already reaching her young adulthood."
"Really? I see… do you feel sad?" Surtr wondered. "That she's…"
"I an… yes," I sighed. "I know that dragons grow faster than humans after all… but she sure grew up fast… but considering things like the years spent inside my divine realm, it makes sense she's already reaching her young adulthood now. But to , it still feels like last year that she was born… ti sure flies, Surtr. You have to make sure to appreciate every mont you got with your kids."
"…I will," Surtr smiled, looking at the starry sky. "So, uh, about changing diapers… is there not so sort of magic item you could lend ?"
"Magic item? Hahaha! There's no such thing for sothing so simple, Surtr, you'll have to get used to changing nasty diapers, that's just how life is as a father," I laughed. "Welco to parenthood! Hahahah!"
"Ugh…" he sighed, accepting his fate. "Oh well! It's a nice enough pay for having kids, it still feels nice!"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Um, so well, what should I do now…? any tips for parenthood, master?" he asked.
"Hmm, well, you should let the kids be kids, you know? Have their fun, explore, and do a bit of mischief sotis. Still, being strict about a few things also is important, you have to strike a good balance. Being overly strict or spoiling them too much can end up with them hating you once they grow up or sothing," I sighed. "I was lucky enough to have wonderful girls helping , and you too. Nadia and Mina are incredible won, so I am sure they will be amazing mothers too."
"Yeah… Well, I also got my mother here too, right? And everyone else, they'll surely help out!" he said, his aura transforming, manifesting into the fiery souls of his dragon family mbers, and of his mother Muspel.
"They were so adorableeeee!" Muspelheim cried. "I couldn't bring myself to scare them, so I just stared through your aura, my son, but they're wonderful! I'm so happy to have grandsons in such a long while…!"
"Hahah, well, I'm happy too, mother," Surtr smiled.
"Leave it to us, little brother!"
"We'll help you raise those children well."
"We've got experience raising our own pups… well, so of us."
"…I never had kids, so I am just as clueless."
So of his brothers and sisters were quite knowledgably, but a few others didn't know a single thing… Asmodeus was also there, crossing his arms as he glared at them and at Surtr.
"Oi Surtr don't just nod! They're your kids you know. You should take responsibility and raise them, asking for our help would be way too much! What kids need when they grow up is their parents! We can help out every now and then, but you should stay with them most of the ti." He reprimanded Surtr for trying to rely too much on his family.
"Y-Yeah… I know, brother, thanks," Surtr nodded with a gentle smile. "I appreciate what you said too! I really needed a big brother figure while growing up… I wish you were there early on."
