Chi Yue’s hand stopped in its tracks as she was about to push the door open.
Had there been any news from Nan Yuan?
She stepped aside and dialed Nan Yuan’s number, but the call went unanswered.
Soon after Chi Yue hung up, Nan Yuan called back, his voice weary, "Chi Yue, has sothing happened?"
"No, everything is fine here. How are things with you?"
Nan Yuan fell silent.
A bad feeling surged in Chi Yue’s heart, "I’m fine, just tell straight."
It was then Nan Yuan said, "The surveillance has been tampered with, your dashcam shows it was you who hit him, and the person was on the crosswalk when you did."
"That’s impossible," Chi Yue imdiately retorted, "My car was stopped in the middle of the road when the accident happened, and I was making a left turn, I hadn’t even reached the crosswalk when the collision occurred."
"I believe you," Nan Yuan said, "The footage has definitely been doctored. I will find evidence as soon as possible. You don’t need to worry. I won’t let you be taken in before he wakes up."
Chi Yue shivered all over.
So everything Fu Hanyan had said was true—she was really going to jail.
Rembering her painful experience last ti, Chi Yue clenched her fists in secret.

Fu Hanyan had more to say but stopped herself and ultimately chose silence.
The two sat in silence throughout the night.
When morning ca, Chi Yue received a call from Chi Jianshan, full of concern and worry, but Chi Yue told him to keep the secret safe and to take good care of Fu Mianmian.
Chi Jianshan offered to co to the hospital but Chi Yue refused.
His presence would only add to the anxiety, and he couldn’t help with anything.
At noon, Nan Yuan ca to pick up Fu Hanyan to rest at ho. Without saying much, Chi Yue didn’t ask any questions either.
Once he left, only she and Fu Rongyin remained in the hospital room.
The doctors said his life was no longer in danger, but he still would not wake up. As ti passed, Chi Yue grew anxious.
Looking at his face, her lips pressed tightly together, she sighed after a while, "I really owe you."
Utterly exhausted, Chi Yue held his hand and rested her head on the edge of the bed.
It was at this mont that Fu Rongyin woke up.
He couldn’t move his body and when he tried to lift his hand, he found it held by soone else’s.
He turned his head slowly and saw Chi Yue’s fatigued little face. She seed to be having a bad dream, her brows furrowed, the dark circles under her eyes standing out starkly.
He ant to wake her up but eventually didn’t have the heart to do so.
Reaching out his other hand for the phone on the bedside table, the door of the hospital room was suddenly flung open, and Qi Hongwen and Zhan Qing walked in, one after the other.
"You’re awake?" Qi Hongwen let out a sigh of relief, "Good, good that you’re awake."
Approaching, he noticed Chi Yue lying by the bed and instinctively softened his steps and voice.
"How long has she been asleep?"
Fu Rongyin was unsure, so he didn’t answer.
Qi Hongwen wanted to keep asking questions but was silenced by a look from Fu Rongyin; Qi Hongwen imdiately fell quiet.
Tsk, not even a biological father matters as much as a wife does.
The hospital room door was pushed open again, and Fan Xuesong walked in. Qi Hongwen turned around just in ti to make eye contact, and Fan Xuesong showed an expression of shock, then turned tail and ran.
Qi Hongwen’s eyes dangerously narrowed, mirroring Fu Rongyin’s expression.
