Reflecting on that incident from the past, Chi Yue still felt unsettled.
It took a while for Fu Rongyin to react, his lips moved, but in the end, he only said one sentence, "You’ve admitted it, you’ve rembered everything."
"Yes, I’ve rembered everything, which is why I despise you even more. How can a grown man be so insecure, putting all his love onto one woman... Fu Rongyin, you really are beneath my respect."
Chi Yue was satisfied with her response, but she herself was taken aback after speaking.
Fu Rongyin just stared at her blankly, and after a while, he laughed too.
Chi Yue frowned, "Why are you laughing?"
Fu Rongyin hadn’t had the chance to speak when Chu Shuo’s voice sounded from the doorway.
"Well scolded, that was brilliant. To think that Master himself would put all his hopes on one woman, isn’t that a joke?"
Chu Shuo walked over and sat down on a stool nearby, saying to Chi Yue, "Continue scolding, if there’s anything not quite right, I’ll add to it."
Chi Yue looked at him, "Where’s Mianmian?"
"Don’t worry, she’s fine. What, have you had enough of scolding? Then never mind, I’ll go ahead. You’re wrong about one thing, he’s not insecure, he just cares too much. "Chu Shuo," Fu Rongyin spoke coolly, a warning in his eyes.
Chu Shuo shrugged his shoulders and said to Chi Yue, "See, he doesn’t want to ntion his vulnerabilities. The feelings are between you two, so you figure it out. I’ll take care of the child for you for now, and when you both have thought things through, I’ll bring the child back."
Chu Shuo left, making a phone call as he reached the entrance.
It wasn’t clear who he was calling, but he began with, "I’m doing so thought work for two fools... Yeah, on my way... No, if it were possible, I’d have already tied them both to a bed..."
Chu Shuo’s voice didn’t fade until he was far away.
Chi Yue’s face turned red with embarrassnt, unsure of how to face Fu Rongyin, she simply pulled the door open to leave.
Her hand had just touched the doorknob when it was grasped by soone else.
Chi Yue didn’t turn around but could sll his unique scent, now mostly masked by the sll of disinfectant.
"Yueyue," he softly called, "don’t go, okay?"
In the end, Chi Yue’s heart softened, and she stayed.
Fu Rongyin didn’t say anything more, just sat by her side working. Whenever she asked him to rest, he would imdiately put down his work and do so.
Chi Yue realised that after speaking her mind, she felt as if she’d lifted a great weight off her shoulders, feeling much lighter.
In the following days, Fu Rongyin duly complied with her, giving her no opportunity to pick a fault, nor bringing up the topic of the surgery.
The day before being discharged, the doctor sought out Chi Yue.
"Miss Chi, Mr. Fu’s illness can’t be delayed any longer, every day postponed is another risk. Please persuade him to have the surgery as soon as possible," the doctor said.
Chi Yue returned to the room feeling heavy-hearted.
Fu Rongyin sensitively detected her unease, "Is there sothing you want to tell ?"
Chi Yue nodded, "Have you decided when you want to have the surgery?"
Fu Rongyin fell silent.
The anger Chi Yue had suppressed for days surged again, "After all, you still don’t plan on having the surgery."
