"Shall we figure out sothing together?" Adam Sterling’s expression suddenly beca frightening, "Or do you want to go find your ex-husband for a solution?"
"Mom!" Little Ella was scared by Adam Sterling’s deanor and imdiately jumped into Yolanda Greenwood’s arms.
"It’s okay, Ella, be good!" Yolanda Greenwood suddenly felt estranged from the person in front of her. She tried her best to suppress her emotions and spoke as gently as possible, "I know you’re not in a good mood right now. Let’s talk when you’ve cald down."
Fortunately, Adam Sterling didn’t continue to lose his temper.
After that, the family didn’t say much. Yolanda Greenwood watched Little Ella eat a bit, while neither Adam Sterling nor she ate anything.
That evening after returning ho, she wanted to find an opportunity to talk to Adam Sterling, but it was evident that Little Ella was frightened during the day. She had trouble falling asleep and kept holding Yolanda’s hand, unwilling to let her leave.
"Ella, darling, today daddy didn’t an to lose his temper," Yolanda softly coaxed her, "Daddy must have encountered so trouble. We need to understand, okay?"
Little Ella blinked but didn’t respond.
"Does Ella love daddy the most, right?" Yolanda smiled and asked, "So even if daddy was wrong this ti, Ella will forgive him, won’t she?"
"Mm." Little Ella nodded gently, her eyes lingering on Yolanda, clearly trying to say sothing.
"What does Ella want to say?"
"Mom, does this an I can’t go to Uncle Coldson’s house to play anymore?" The little one was clearly a bit downcast.
"..." Yolanda was taken aback, fiddled with Little Ella’s hair, and softly asked, "Ella really likes Uncle Coldson’s house?"
"Mm, Uncle Coldson is nice. He specially arranged a room for filled with bunnies and dolls I like." Toward the end, Little Ella’s voice grew softer, "But daddy doesn’t like Uncle Coldson, does he? Ella should stay away from Uncle Coldson too."
"Silly child, even if daddy and Uncle Coldson have conflicts, those are adult matters that don’t concern Ella."
"Really?" Little Ella’s eyes lit up, clearly delighted.
"Really, now Ella should sleep, close your eyes, no more talking." Yolanda gently patted her little body, humming a song until she finally lulled her to sleep.
Yolanda stood up, sighed, and planned to go find Adam Sterling for a chat.
Upon reaching the living room, finding Adam wasn’t there, she went to knock on Adam Sterling’s door, "Can we talk?"
The door quickly opened, Adam Sterling turned and went back in, still wearing an unhappy expression.
Yolanda felt a pang of discomfort. It was her first ti seeing this side of Adam Sterling. She carefully shut the door and sat opposite him.
"Are you still angry?" Yolanda, seeing Adam Sterling’s silence, took the initiative to speak.
"Shouldn’t I be angry?" Adam Sterling righteously retorted, "My wife and her ex-husband putting on a family act, do I not even have the right to be mad?"
"Adam, you’re right. I should have considered this better. I apologize again." Yolanda looked remorseful.
"Consider better?" Adam Sterling sneered, "Did you consider at all? Have you thought about what other parents might think of ? Yolanda, you’ve let down too much."
"Adam, I’m really sorry. This whole thing is my fault." Yolanda’s eyes reddened. "I promise it won’t happen again. But if you’re still upset, could you perhaps not show it in front of Ella? It scares her."
"Yolanda, if you really cared for , for Ella, you’d stay away from Cooper Coldson." Adam Sterling beca emotional.
"But..." Yolanda felt Cooper was still Ella’s biological father, and since An-An was with him, it was impossible for them to never et or have no contact.
She sighed and said, "Adam, I can only promise to avoid unnecessary contact with Cooper Coldson, but he’s the father of both children, and I can’t sever ties completely."
"It’s all excuses!" Adam Sterling jumped to his feet, turning his back to Yolanda, clearly upset again.
Yolanda felt very troubled but had no choice.
She stood up as well, "Adam, whatever happened three years ago, I don’t rember, but since we’ve chosen to be together, we should trust each other, shouldn’t we?"
Adam Sterling frowned slightly.
"An-An is also my child. I’ve already abandoned him for three years; I can’t neglect him further. If you’re really suggesting..."
"Don’t talk nonsense!" Adam Sterling turned around, cutting Yolanda off, "Yolanda, I just care too much about you, too afraid of losing you, not because I don’t trust you. You should understand."
Yolanda’s tears finally couldn’t be held back, "Adam, I understand. I just hope you can at least control yourself in front of Ella. She’s... very sensitive."
"Okay, Yolanda, don’t cry. I was wrong. I won’t do this again." Adam hastily explained, "Sothing did happen today. My emotions have been unstable, but it won’t happen again."
Yolanda looked at him sympathetically, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Adam shook his head, reassuring Yolanda, "Don’t worry. I’ll handle it myself."
Yolanda nodded, "That’s good, that’s good."
"Alright, everything’s our fault today. Let’s turn the page and make peace, shall we?" Adam begged, looking at Yolanda.
"Mm." Yolanda smiled. This was undoubtedly the best outco. "Then you should rest early. I’ll go to bed too."
"Mm, off you go." Adam saw Yolanda out.
Once the door closed, his smile vanished instantly. Rembering the morning call, his expression grew even more frightening.
He sat there motionless until the phone rang.
It was Noah Coldson.
"How is it? When are you coming back?" Noah Coldson’s tone was anxious as soon as he spoke.
"I’m not going back," Adam coldly replied.
"Not going back?" Noah Coldson was clearly surprised, "What are you doing? Adam, this isn’t a joke. If you don’t go back, you ought to guess the consequences."
"I can’t return," Adam reaffird.
"Adam!" Obviously, Noah Coldson wanted to persuade him further.
"Noah," Adam preemptively spoke, "If given another chance, would you still choose to have pretend to be Yolanda’s husband?"
"..." Noah’s tone was a bit helpless, "Why bring this up now?"
"I know you can’t do it. I know you regret it," Adam continued, "So, I can’t let myself regret it. If I leave now, Yolanda will inevitably be taken by Cooper Coldson, and I can’t accept that."
This ti, it took Noah quite a while to speak again, "Adam, think it through."
"I’ve thought it through; I’m choosing Yolanda!" Adam waited a mont, but seeing the other side would no longer speak, he took the initiative to hang up.
He knew his words were harsh, but it was his heartfelt truth. For Yolanda, he was willing to give up everything now.
