"lissa Greenwood, what nonsense are you spouting?" Yolanda Greenwood’s face turned cold. "How can you say such things about a child who’s only a few months old?"

lissa Greenwood curled her lips indifferently. "You don’t believe ? Then let show you sothing."

As she spoke, she attempted to thrust the fruit knife into Little Gabriel’s hands.

Yolanda, terrified, imdiately slamd on the brakes. Cold sweat drenched her back. After confirming Little Gabriel was unhard, she suppressed her anger and said in a chilling voice, "lissa Greenwood, are you out of your mind?"

"No, it’s you who’s lost your mind!" lissa Greenwood still trembled slightly from fear. The abrupt braking had almost caused the fruit knife to stab her eye. "Do you want to kill ?"

She yelled at Yolanda, "I’m telling you, if I die, I’ll drag you and your son down with !"

"If you keep up with this madness, my son and I will die right alongside you!" Yolanda glared at her coldly. "Just try if you don’t believe ."

lissa Greenwood saw that Yolanda was truly furious. She let out a couple of dry laughs and put away the fruit knife. "Don’t get so worked up. I’m relying on you two to help escape; I wouldn’t kill you. But..."

She couldn’t resist rubbing Yolanda the wrong way. "Your son truly isn’t normal. He’s not even afraid of a knife—no, in fact, don’t you notice he isn’t afraid of anything?"

Yolanda didn’t seem to care and restarted the car. "He’s still young, naïve about everything. It’s normal for kids not to be scared."

"Is that so?" lissa Greenwood murmured to herself. Deep down, she felt sothing was wrong with the little brat. Eventually, she would find a chance to test him.

The car continued forward. The surroundings grew more desolate along the way, clearly distanced from any signs of urban life.

lissa Greenwood stayed quiet for a while before breaking the silence again. "What do you think those two brothers are trying to do to rescue you right now?"

Yolanda didn’t want to engage with her and didn’t respond, focusing on driving.

"Their car’s surely trailing us sowhere, don’t you think?" lissa Greenwood sneered.

"I don’t know." Yolanda was growing impatient. "Where exactly are you planning to go?"

"You don’t know? Stop pretending. Those brothers would die for you—do you really think they’ll just let take you away like this?" lissa Greenwood interrogated sharply, ignoring Yolanda’s question altogether.

Yolanda fell silent again, guessing that lissa herself didn’t know her precise destination—she was just searching for what she believed to be a safe haven.

But the quieter Yolanda got, the more provocative lissa Greenwood beca. "Yolanda, do you think they treat you so well only because you saved them years ago?"

"Do you think this is love?" she pressed further.

Yolanda continued to stay silent, letting lissa Greenwood act out her monologue.

lissa Greenwood smirked arrogantly. "You know this isn’t love. Speaking of you, you’re as pitiful as I am. If Cooper Coldson loved you, no matter how much he saw as his savior, he shouldn’t have distrusted or hurt you like that..."

She threw Yolanda a contemptuous look. "And Noah Coldson doesn’t love you either. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have conspired with to set you up. At the end of the day, all he wants is to possess you."

"You’re wrong." Yolanda finally spoke. "You’re pitiful, but it’s not because they don’t love you."

"What do you an?" lissa Greenwood’s face hardened. "Don’t start lecturing about morality again. So what if I’m ruthless? At least in the past, I was happier than you. I’m not pitiful at all."

"Were you truly happy?" Yolanda’s voice carried a peculiar calm.

lissa Greenwood instantly bristled. "Yolanda, who do you think you are? Do you really believe you’ve won sothing here? Whether I’m happy or not is none of your business!"

Yolanda didn’t bother arguing with her, her tone remaining steady. "To be honest, I stopped caring a long ti ago about whether they love or not."

"Whether it’s Cooper Coldson or Noah Coldson, I don’t care," she glanced at Little Gabriel beside her. The child, evidently tired, had already fallen asleep against lissa Greenwood’s chest. "I just want to live peacefully with Gabriel and Ella."

"Hah, anyone can talk big," lissa Greenwood remarked, suddenly bored. She refrained from speaking further, only telling Yolanda to take the more isolated path whenever they reached a fork.

anwhile, Noah Coldson’s pursuit was getting increasingly challenging, forcing him to widen the distance between the two cars.

"Will this work? Are we going to lose them?" Cooper Coldson asked worriedly. He remained highly vigilant throughout the journey, afraid of overlooking anything.

"Relax." Noah Coldson exuded confidence. "Even though Heavenly Eye isn’t operational here, this road barely sees any traffic. Their trail is clear enough."

He patiently explained to Cooper Coldson, "If we tail them too closely, lissa Greenwood might notice us. Who knows what this crazy woman would do then?"

Cooper Coldson nodded in agreent. When it ca to this, Noah Coldson was an expert, and Cooper trusted his judgnt.

The road grew increasingly remote, and the sky turned darker and darker.

Yolanda began to feel fatigued and finally spoke up, "Should we find soplace to rest? If we keep driving like this, I’m genuinely afraid we’ll crash."

"Then let’s all die together." lissa Greenwood appeared irritable.

The entire day had left her ntally tense and drained. Now, she was groggy and physically unwell—she could tell her cravings were resurfacing.

She stared at the sporadic lights ahead. "There’s a village up front. Stop there for a bit."

"Are we spending the night in the car?" Yolanda probed hesitantly.

"No!" lissa Greenwood snapped. The car was too confined and unsafe. She feared Yolanda might try sothing. "Find a house to lodge in."

Yolanda hesitated. "Is that a good idea? Let’s just make do in the car for tonight."

"No way! Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to." lissa Greenwood’s voice turned icy. "You go find a place for the night. If you fail, you can sleep outside the car."

With no other options, Yolanda reluctantly complied. She parked the car and said, "I’ll go now. If I find a spot, I’ll co back and let you know."

"Hmm." lissa Greenwood nodded but issued a warning. "Don’t try anything clever. If you ss this up, you won’t just kill yourself and your spawn. I already have enough blood on my hands—I won’t mind adding a few more lives."

"Got it." Yolanda shut the car door.

She began wandering through the village, looking for a wealthy-looking household to approach.

Soon enough, her attention was caught by one—this family had a large tiled house and two smaller side buildings, clearly the ho of well-off villagers.

She approached the property to call out, only for a large dog to suddenly rush out, startling her. Fortunately, the dog was contained behind the fence.

Yolanda clutched her chest in relief, then saw an elderly woman with white hair erge from the house.

"Who’s there?" the old woman called out from afar, squinting as if trying to recognize Yolanda.

"Hello, ma’am, are you ho alone?" Yolanda asked softly. She figured if the woman was alone, she might be too scared to let strangers in, and Yolanda would have to keep searching.

"Who are you? What do you want?" The old woman ignored her question and asked a second ti.
