lissa Greenwood thought for a mont, changed into a black suit, and headed to the funeral ho.

At the entrance, she saw Cooper Coldson smoking from a distance. She hesitated for a mont, and a noticeable trace of fear crossed her face.

"Cooper, what happened?" lissa quickly ran forward, her expression grave as she asked.

Cooper took a drag from his cigarette. The smoke obscured half of his expression. "Richard Reyes... is dead."

"How could that be?" lissa’s eyes instantly reddened. Covering her mouth in disbelief, she gasped, "What happened? I rember seeing him just a few days ago."

Cooper asked coldly, "A few days ago?"

lissa shook her head. "I can’t quite rember. Maybe I was wrong... How did Assistant Reyes... die?"

"Car accident. A severe one." Through the smoke, Cooper’s gaze grew colder as he looked at lissa. "The car burned until only its skeleton remained. As for Richard, his face was unrecognizable."

"So tragic... so tragic..." lissa sobbed, covering her mouth as tears stread down her face.

"Want to go inside?" Cooper asked abruptly.

"Huh?" lissa was taken aback, her face instantly drained of color. "Inside?"

"Yes." Cooper walked over to the trash can, extinguished his cigarette, and said loudly as he looked at her from afar, "Go in and see him. You knew him after all. He didn’t have many friends in Gray City. Maybe another person seeing him will help him leave more peacefully."

"I... I suppose." lissa hesitated, seeing Cooper’s firm expression, before reluctantly replying, "I... I’m really scared, but... if you want to go, Cooper, then alright, I’ll go with you."

Cooper curled his lips slightly. "Forget it. You’ll just scare yourself; it’s not worth it."

He turned and walked away.

lissa let out a sigh of relief and hurried after him. "Cooper, no one wanted this to happen. Don’t be too sad. We can give his parents a bit more money, so they can head back to their hotown and live peacefully in their old age."

Cooper turned back and looked at her intently. After a while, he finally said, "I was thinking the sa."

The two got into the car one after another. On the way, Cooper asked, "Tomorrow is my divorce hearing with Yolanda. Are you coming with ?"

lissa hesitated for a mont before shaking her head. "Forget it. I need to attend May’s parent-teacher eting tomorrow, so I won’t be able to go."

"That’s fine. Whether you go or not, the outco will be the sa." Cooper dropped lissa off at the Greenwood Family estate. "Prepare yourself over the next few days."

"Prepare for what?"

Cooper looked at her. "Once my divorce with Yolanda is finalized, it’ll be ti for us to get married. Don’t you need to prepare?"

"Of course." lissa felt a surge of joy in her heart. "Don’t worry, Cooper—I’ll make sure everything’s ready."

Cooper drove off into the distance.

lissa’s lips curved into a smile. Finally, she had made it to this day. Soon, she would officially beco Mrs. Coldson.

Thinking about her previous two failed wedding attempts with Cooper, lissa vowed that this ti, it would be a success.

anwhile, Yolanda Greenwood and Noah Coldson had escorted Jaxon Greenwood to the Linville nursing ho. After briefly regaining clarity that day, Jaxon had reverted to his previous state of non-recognition.

Yolanda repeatedly instructed the caregivers and stayed at the nursing ho overnight to ensure everything was fine before leaving the next day.

On the way back to Gray City, Noah glanced at Yolanda as though he wanted to say sothing.

"Tomorrow, I’m getting the divorce certificate with Cooper. Are you coming, Noah?" Yolanda asked, knowing what he wanted to say.

"I think I’ll sit this one out." Noah, caught off guard at being read so precisely, felt a hint of awkwardness. "I just hope... Cooper doesn’t go missing again tomorrow."

Yolanda gazed out the window. "Judge Dawson said that even if he doesn’t show up, the court will issue a ruling. It won’t do him any good, so he should co."

"Hmm." Noah nodded, stealing a glance at Yolanda. "Actually... seeing Gabriel and Ella get along so well the other day, whether it was Mom or Cooper, I don’t think they truly want this divorce anymore..."

"I won’t change my mind." Yolanda’s tone was firm.

"Hmm." Noah opened his mouth but sensed Yolanda’s gloomy mood. In the end, he said no more.

Once they arrived back, Yolanda got ready to step out of the car. "Would you like to co in for a bit? You’ve been so helpful these last couple of days."

"No need to be polite with ." Noah declined. "I won’t go up."

"Alright, I’ll head in then." Yolanda opened the car door.

"Yolanda," Noah called out suddenly from behind. "When I asked about tomorrow’s divorce earlier, it wasn’t ant to pressure you into making a decision. Whatever choice you make, I’ll support you."

Yolanda turned and smiled faintly. "I understand, Noah. I’ll head in now."

Noah watched Yolanda’s vanishing figure, lingering quietly for a while before finally restarting the car and driving away.

Once ho, Yolanda quickly changed clothes, washed her hands, and went to see Little Ella.

The little one clearly already recognized her mother. The mont she saw Yolanda, her arms and legs started flailing excitedly, as if she wanted Yolanda to hold her.

"Little Ella only wants you," said Lola Gold, who had been playing the role of mom for a day and night and was now visibly exhausted.

Yolanda picked up Ella. "Ella missed Mommy? Has Ella been behaving?"

"She’s been good. She only fussed a little last night; the rest of the ti, she’s been angelic." Lola stretched and yawned. "If all kids were like Ella, real little angels, I think more people would want to have children."

"You should go get so rest." Yolanda nudged her gently.

"Alright." Lola leaned in and lightly brushed against Ella’s little cheek. "Now your real mommy’s back, this stepmom will step aside. Don’t miss too much, okay?"

After Lola left, the postpartum doula lowered her voice and said, "Yesterday, there was also a man who ca over—last na Coldson, spent so ti playing with Ella."

"A man nad Coldson?"

"Yeah, Miss Gold called him Christopher." The postpartum doula quickly glanced at Yolanda. "He seed very close to Miss Gold—like her... boyfriend."

Christopher Coldson.

Yolanda nodded. "I understand. In the future, there’s no need to tell about things like this. As long as they don’t harm Ella on purpose, you don’t need to keep such a close watch."

"Oh, alright. That was presumptuous of ." The postpartum doula blushed in embarrassnt.

"Not at all. It’s just that Lola doesn’t like people discussing her personal affairs." Yolanda made sure not to make her feel uncomfortable.

"Understood, understood."

Yolanda was aware that Lola and Christopher seed to have reconciled, yet sothing unresolved still lingered between them.

Lately, Lola hadn’t ntioned aborting the child, but she also never spoke about it—as if she had decided the baby no longer existed.

In just a few days, the baby would be seven weeks old. Yolanda couldn’t predict what would happen then.

But she was almost certain that if Lola went through with terminating the pregnancy, Christopher might very well lose his mind.

Yolanda sighed softly. Tomorrow, she’d officially finalize the divorce with Cooper. All things considered, she hadn’t sorted out her own ss and had no right to ddle in others’ affairs.
