Yolanda Greenwood’s hand holding the phone trembled, despair gripping her as if she had plunged into an icy abyss.
lissa Greenwood’s voice continued to echo, "Yolanda, I just got so incredibly beautiful drafts here, do you want to take a look?"
Yolanda Greenwood clenched her teeth, "lissa Greenwood, you truly disgust !"
"Yolanda, I’m just trying to help you."
lissa Greenwood’s voice beca panicked.
Yolanda faintly heard her say, "Cooper, I really was just trying to help her."
The call was abruptly ended, not expecting lissa Greenwood to make this call in front of Cooper Coldson on purpose, truly a deep scher.
"Mrs.?" Jasmine King asked tentatively.
"From now on, when Eliana Reed arrives, don’t let her in."
Yolanda Greenwood dropped this sentence and went upstairs.
She waited, expecting lissa Greenwood to contact her again.
Sure enough, an hour later, lissa sent an address, which was surprisingly a spring bathhouse.
Yolanda Greenwood quickly understood, lissa Greenwood was afraid she might record the conversation.
She was once again stunned by this woman’s cunning; no wonder she had been deceived for so many years.
Inside the steam room, lissa Greenwood was still extrely cautious with every word she spoke.
She did not ntion Yolanda Greenwood’s competition entry, only repeatedly suggesting that Yolanda agree to the divorce and take five billion to leave.
"Yolanda, five billion, how many people have never seen so much money in their lifeti, aren’t you tempted?"
Yolanda sneered, "Do you not know how much Cooper Coldson is worth? And how much is the status of Mrs. Coldson worth? You should be clearer than ."
lissa Greenwood shook her head, "What does that have to do with you? You don’t know yet? Cooper has already stopped your card."
Yolanda Greenwood was silent, but her stance remained resolute.
lissa Greenwood finally could not hold back.
"Yolanda, this design contest is very important for both you and Jenny Reyes, isn’t it?"
"I heard she has staked her life with the board, if you don’t bring an award back, she might really have to say goodbye."
"Of course, if you plagiarize again, she will definitely have to say goodbye, and both of you will have to go, being completely ostracized from this circle."
Yolanda Greenwood clenched her fist, glaring at lissa Greenwood through gritted teeth.
lissa Greenwood smiled indifferently.
"Yolanda, I really am helping you."
"Getting a divorce, taking the money, winning an award, wouldn’t that lead you to the peak of life?"
Yolanda suddenly beca curious, "lissa Greenwood, aren’t you afraid that I’ll agree and then go back on my word?"
"You are not that kind of person," lissa Greenwood asserted confidently.
"So, I deserve to be tricked by you? Manipulated? And still have to be grateful to you?"
Yolanda stood up, intending to leave, "lissa Greenwood, you’re right, I’m not that kind of person, nobody can force to do what I don’t want to do."
"Yolanda!" lissa Greenwood called out to her, "Won’t you consider Jenny Reyes?"
Yolanda Greenwood looked back contemptuously, "lissa Greenwood, what goes around cos around, just you watch."
Upon leaving the spa, Yolanda Greenwood imdiately called Jenny Reyes.
"Sister Reyes, I hope I didn’t disturb your rest?"
Jenny Reyes was applying a facial mask, her voice muffled, "Tell , what’s wrong?"
"Sister Reyes, would you mind going out for so late-night snacks?"
Yolanda Greenwood’s heart was heavy with unspoken words that she couldn’t convey over the phone.
"Sure, send the address, I’m on my way now."
Jenny Reyes agreed promptly, knowing in her heart that there mustbe trouble with the design contest.
Half an hour later, the two t by the riverbank.
It was quite late, and being a disciplined person, Jenny Reyes wanted to talk business and had no interest in eating.
Yolanda Greenwood deeply admired such a person, even thinking that if she could live like Jenny Reyes after divorcing Cooper Coldson, she would consider it a success.
"What happened?" Jenny Reyes cut straight to the point.
Yolanda struggled briefly before speaking, "Sister Reyes, the design contest... I don’t want to participate anymore."
Jenny Reyes slightly furrowed her brow, "What happened?"
Yolanda Greenwood stared at the river, deeply sighed, "lissa Greenwood got my design draft."
She and Jenny Reyes had been working on it for ten days, and the submission deadline was at eight o’clock tomorrow morning; overturning it now was impossible.
Jenny Reyes remained silent, her gaze also fixed on the distant river.
The two sat in silence, with only the whooshing sound of the wind over the river.
After a while, Jenny Reyes slowly began, "It’s okay, you did the right thing."
Yolanda Greenwood looked at her in surprise.
Jenny continued, "lissa Greenwood probably threatened you with the design draft, but you didn’t compromise, did you?"
"Sister Reyes, I’m really sorry."
Yolanda’s voice choked up.
"Yolanda," Jenny looked at her, her expression very serious, "you did nothing wrong."
"But..."
Jenny gently patted Yolanda’s shoulder, "Yolanda, there will be other opportunities, you have to stick to yourself, whether it’s painting or anything else."
"But..." Yolanda wanted to ask if her withdrawal would implicate Jenny.
"Don’t worry." Jenny smiled, "I’ll handle things with the company, no need for you to worry."
"Are you sure it’s okay?"
Yolanda was skeptical, considering lissa had just ntioned that this competition was critical for Jenny.
"Did you just say you wanted barbecue?"
Jenny suddenly perked up, "Co on, Sister Reyes is making an exception today, but just to be clear, you’re treating."
Yolanda wiped away her tears, "Sister Reyes, you’re not on a diet anymore?"
"You cheeky girl, why bring that up?"
Jenny playfully tapped Yolanda’s forehead, "After a full al today, I’ll have the energy to diet tomorrow."
So, the two found a restaurant by the river, eating and chatting like old friends who had known each other for years.
In the end, Jenny secretly paid the bill in advance, saying the next ti Yolanda won a big award, she could treat her back.
The next day, when Yolanda arrived at the company, things felt off.
The colleagues in her group appeared very downhearted, and Sophie Taylor looked like she had just cried.
"Sophie Taylor, what happened?"
Yolanda had a bad feeling.
Sophie’s eyes reddened again, "Yolanda, Sister Reyes has resigned."
"What?" Yolanda jumped to her feet.
She didn’t wait for Sophie to say more. She rushed to Jenny’s office and, sure enough, found Jenny packing her things.
"Sister Reyes?"
Jenny glanced at her, "You girl, just because we had a al together, doesn’t an you can forget the rules. Didn’t you knock?"
"Sister Reyes," Yolanda rushed to the desk, "is it because of the design competition? I’ll go talk to the company right now. I’ll resign, and you stay."
"Don’t be ridiculous!" Jenny scolded her.
"Sister Reyes, you can’t go."
Yolanda couldn’t hold back her tears.
"Stop crying."
Jenny sighed softly.
"This isn’t actually about you. I had already suggested to the company to deal with lissa after I watched your live stream, but they refused. I’ve been thinking about resigning ever since."
Yolanda looked at Jenny through tear-blurred eyes.
"I thought that if I left, it would be even harder for you if you stayed."
"Sister Reyes..." Yolanda burst into uncontrollable sobs.
"Okay, okay, you’re a grown-up."
Jenny’s eyes were reddening too.
"Yolanda, rember what I told you yesterday. Baruy is a rare platform; you must hold on. Establish yourself here, and do justice to your talent!"
And to my departure!
