"Yolanda?"
A voice of utmost gentleness rose from behind her.
Yolanda Greenwood quickly closed the report and turned around to look.
"Eldest Aunt?"
She hadn’t expected it to be lissa Greenwood’s mother, Gemma Morgan.
At the mont, Gemma wore a hospital gown, her face without makeup, looking especially pale and frail.
Seeing that the person opposite her was indeed Yolanda Greenwood, she imdiately smiled happily, her eyes curving beautifully.
"It really is you, I was worried I might have recognized the wrong person."
Gemma asked gently, "What’s the matter? Is Little Yolanda sick?"
"No," Yolanda Greenwood shook her head, "just here for a regular check-up."
Her expression was complex, her nose tingling inexplicably.
After the events of the birthday party, she had been avoiding her uncle and Eldest Aunt, feeling ashad to face them.
Now, after more than a year, she and Gemma t for the first ti.
She already knew the truth, but how could she bear to tell Gemma?
"It’s good that nothing’s wrong; you can’t neglect your health if you’re feeling unwell."
Gemma beckoned to her, "Co here, to your Eldest Aunt’s side. How has Little Yolanda beco so thin after a year?"
Yolanda Greenwood hesitated before walking over.
Gemma touched her cheek, a look of pain on her face, "You really have lost weight, haven’t you? What’s wrong? Is Cooper Coldson not treating you well?"
Yolanda Greenwood’s heart was filled with bittersweet pain. She couldn’t speak, only shake her head.
"Silly child!" To her surprise, Gemma’s eyes reddened first, "You’ve been wronged."
"Eldest Aunt..." Yolanda Greenwood faltered.
Gemma let out a soft sigh, "As for the incident back then, don’t bla yourself, your Eldest Aunt believes in you."
What?
Yolanda Greenwood’s body swayed; her heart in utter chaos.
"Back then, your Eldest Aunt visited your ho a few tis, but your mother said you were in a bad mood and didn’t want to see ."
Gemma gently took Yolanda Greenwood’s hand, "Although your Eldest Aunt doesn’t know exactly what happened that day, I believe you certainly didn’t want things to turn out like this."
Yolanda Greenwood’s tears were uncontrollable.
This was the first person since the incident who knew nothing, yet completely believed in her.
"Child, if being with Cooper is too hard for you, you can let it go. Whether you want to go abroad for a few years or move to another city to live, your Eldest Aunt can help you."
Gemma looked sincerely at Yolanda Greenwood, "lissa has co back. I know the girl’s temperant well..."
Yolanda Greenwood shook her head, wiping her tears forcefully, "Eldest Aunt, I don’t want to give up on Cooper for now."
Gemma was startled, but ultimately let out a deep sigh, "Alright, you do have that stubborn streak, much like your Eldest Aunt when she was young."
She stepped forward and hugged Yolanda Greenwood, "Rember what your Eldest Aunt just said. My words always stand."
"Thank you." Yolanda Greenwood hugged Gemma tightly in return, "By the way, Eldest Aunt, are you feeling unwell?"
Gemma smiled faintly, "It’s nothing, just an old ailnt. Well, I won’t take up any more of Little Yolanda’s ti, goodbye."
"Eldest Aunt, goodbye!"
After the woman had gone far away, Yolanda Greenwood again slowly opened the test report she had just closed.
The final identification conclusion read: According to dical genetic DNA testing, it supports that one Deng and one Lin have a biological parent-child relationship.
Yolanda Greenwood looked at the test result over and over again, feeling as if she had been slapped hard.
She tore the report to pieces and turned to throw it into a trash can.
In Gemma Morgan’s hospital room, as soon as Yolanda Greenwood’s test report was taken away, lissa Greenwood received the news.
She stood by the window holding a coffee, watching as Yolanda Greenwood left, her soul seemingly elsewhere.
lissa had never expected Yolanda Greenwood to suspect her relationship with Eliana Reed, but it was all owing to Eliana’s stupidity that raised Yolanda’s suspicions.
Yolanda was right in her guess, for lissa Greenwood was indeed the daughter of Eliana Reed and Third Greenwood.
And the smartest thing Eliana Reed and Third Greenwood did in their lifeti was to switch the two children around after Yolanda’s birth.
lissa had known the truth since she was seven or eight years old.
She quite enjoyed having two sets of parents.
When Yolanda ca for the DNA test, it so happened that lissa had co to visit Gemma Morgan, and there, lissa switched Yolanda’s sample with her own.
Even if it was a stolen life, lissa was determined not to let go.
"lissa?" Gemma had returned.
"Mom!" lissa put down her coffee and went over to support Gemma, "You’re wandering off again, making worry."
A gentle smile appeared on Gemma’s face, "I just ran into Yolanda and we exchanged a few words."
lissa paused, not joining the conversation.
"lissa," Gemma spoke again, "You and Cooper Coldson..."
"Mom!" lissa interrupted Gemma, "I must marry Cooper, and it was originally Yolanda who..."
"lissa, believe mom, the incident back then must’ve been a misunderstanding, Yolanda is a good kid."
"Mom!" lissa’s eyes reddened, "I am your daughter, can you bear to see love and not obtain him, suffering my whole life?"
"..." Gemma sighed softly, "Mom didn’t an that, it’s just that... I feel sorry for Yolanda."
"Alright, Mom, you should rest well, Yolanda has her own family, you needn’t worry about her."
lissa did not want to listen anymore.
Whether it was due to blood ties or not, Gemma always had a particular soft spot for Yolanda.
No matter how much she spoke ill of Yolanda over the years, even about the birthday banquet incident, Gemma always trusted Yolanda.
Leaving the hospital, Yolanda felt utterly terrible.
She called Lola Gold and arranged to let loose at Midnight.
The only thing she could now get from Cooper was the money in the card.
That night, as soon as the two found a seat at Midnight, Yolanda realized she was wearing the sa dress as a girl sitting diagonally across from them.
The girl happened to look over, causing Yolanda to nod awkwardly.
"What a coincidence?"
Yolanda complained in a low voice, only to see that the girl actually approached them.
Lola Gold glanced and snorted, "It’s not scary to wear the sa dress, it’s embarrassing for the ugly one!"
"Lola Gold!" The girl walked up to the table, directly addressing Lola, "Who are you calling ugly?"
"Oh, looks like you did look in the mirror before stepping out." Lola was fearless.
As it seed the two were about to start fighting, Yolanda quickly pulled on Lola, "Who is this person?"
"Who else could it be, she slls so strong, a little fox born from a big fox."
Yolanda imdiately guessed that this girl was Lola’s stepsister.
Thinking about it, Lola’s childhood wasn’t much better than Yolanda’s.
Her mom was unwell, her dad had an affair during pregnancy, and they got divorced when Lola was five or six.
Custody was given to the father, but he married his mistress, took in his illegitimate daughter, and completely ignored Lola, often beating and scolding her.
Lola’s mom, on the other hand, struggled alone with her illness, secretly sending any money she had to Lola.
After starting university, Lola moved out from her dad’s to live with her mom.
So, Lola harbored deep-seated hatred towards her father and his new family.
"You little slut, you dare to insult ?" The stepsister was clearly not to be trificked with, "Today I’m going to settle you on behalf of dad!"
She rolled up her sleeves and lunged towards Lola.
