"Okay," Jenny Reyes now a mother herself, seed noticeably more sentintal as she sighed, "Not only is he refusing surgery, but he’s also declined to stay in the hospital. They just prescribed so dicine and sent him ho."
Yolanda Greenwood gripped the phone in silence, outraged by the situation.
According to Leah Diaz’s earlier statents, all the money she earned after coming over was sent back for Little Wood’s dical expenses.
But what actually happened? Clearly, her family had used only a small portion of the money for Little Wood’s treatnt and then spent everyday berating Leah for not being at her child’s side, constantly demanding more money for various reasons.
They were probably afraid of being exposed, so they hadn’t allowed mother and son to video chat for a long ti.
The more Yolanda thought about it, the angrier she got—Little Wood’s father’s family were absolute beasts.
"Fortunately, the doctors at the hospital are responsible and have been keeping track of Little Wood’s condition. They even visit him often," Jenny continued, "I heard that his attending physician also donated so money to their family."
"What?" Yolanda was stunned upon hearing this; the family was like vampires.
After returning to the country, she had to confront them with Leah.
The next day, Yolanda went to work with Leah, who seed out of sorts, probably from not sleeping all night.
Indeed, there was critical business at Tala Inc, and as soon as they arrived at the office, they were so busy they didn’t stop until lunchti, when Yolanda finally had the chance to check her phone.
To her surprise, there were over a dozen missed calls and several ssages, mostly from Cooper Coldson.
"I’m at the airport; why haven’t you arrived?"
"Did sothing happen? Why are you not picking up the phone?"
"Pick up the phone!"
"Yolanda!!!"
"Yolanda, what on earth is going on?"
...
Reading through, Yolanda found that Cooper seed increasingly frantic, to the point he even ntioned calling the police.
She hurriedly called back, and to her surprise, the call connected.
"Didn’t you get on the plane?" Yolanda asked, puzzled.
"Where are you?" Cooper’s voice was chillingly cold, clearly suppressing his rage.
"I’m really sorry, I’m at the office. I plan to go back in a few days. You haven’t left, have you?" Yolanda was a bit embarrassed, "I was so busy today that I didn’t realize..."
Before she could finish, the call was abruptly ended.
Yolanda was speechless, knowing Cooper was furious.
But he could have flown back on his own. Why did he insist on going with her?
Was he worried about her? She had been on the verge of death before and never saw him so concerned.
Yolanda couldn’t be bothered with him and called Noah Coldson instead.
"Big brother, were you looking for ? I went to work today, and it’s been busy at the office. I’ve only just had a chance to look at my phone."
"You went back to work?" Noah’s tone was much more pleasant, "Are you sure your body can handle it? Why didn’t you rest for a few more days?"
"I’m fine," Yolanda joked about herself, "I’m here on a business trip, learning; I can’t just lounge around in the apartnt all day."
"By the way," she added, "when are you and Dr. Sterling headed back? Is your mission here over?"
There was silence on the other end before he reluctantly said, "So, you’re that eager to get rid of ?"
"No, no," Yolanda quickly denied, "Fine, you don’t like it, I won’t ask. But you have to let know before you head back."
"And you?"
"?" Yolanda didn’t catch on.
"Yeah," Noah hesitated then ventured, "The cooling-off period for your divorce with Cooper is about to end, right?"
"Oh, I’m heading back in a few days," Yolanda replied and then quickly added, "I’ve already made arrangents with Cooper to go back together."
"Oh," Noah’s voice carried a hint of disappointnt.
"I need to discuss adopting May with him," Yolanda subconsciously explained, "Because if he doesn’t agree, it’s going to be difficult."
"Is that so?" Noah sounded slightly pleased, "Then, shall I join you?"
"No need, I’ll be back soon, and it’s unnecessary for you to run back and forth with ," Yolanda wasn’t keen on the idea of Noah going through so much trouble.
"It’s okay; I’ve been aning to visit Grandpa anyway."
"Alright then." There was a warmth in Yolanda’s heart; Noah had indeed beco like family, soone she could rely on unconditionally at any mont.
It felt good.
She sent her seat information to Noah, "Cooper bought a first-class ticket; I’ll find a chance to pay him back later."
"Hmm," Noah sounded unexpectedly cheerful, "I won’t sit with you then."
In the following days, everyone was busy. Downstairs, Brooks Parker seed to take May out for fun every day, and May always brought Yolanda little gifts.
Knowing that Yolanda was taking a trip back ho, the little girl clung to her, saying, "Aunt Yolanda, you have to co back quickly, or May will miss you so much."
"Sure," Yolanda also promised to bring gifts for May.
Brooks, aware that Yolanda was going back for her divorce procedures, couldn’t help but urge her to reconsider.
"I’ve thought it through, and I’ve made my decision," Yolanda stood firm, "In truth, whether Cooper knows the truth or not doesn’t matter anymore, because he... he’s not important anymore."
Yolanda had reflected on it over the past few days, but she was genuinely tired.
She and Cooper had so many bad mories; even clearing up misunderstandings couldn’t erase the pain, so it might be better to end things now.
Soon, the day to return ho arrived.
At the airport, Yolanda explained to Leah that there were no more first-class seats available when she had bought her ticket, so they had to sit separately.
"That’s okay." Leah seed listless, with particularly dark circles under her eyes from obvious strain over these days.
Actually, not sitting together with Yolanda wasn’t so bad; she preferred being alone.
However, when boarding, Leah was surprised to see Cooper and Noah.
Cooper didn’t expect Noah to co; he glanced at him and then urged Yolanda, "Hurry up and board."
"I’m on my way," Yolanda farewelled the two n and followed Cooper.
Leah gave Noah a puzzled look until that mont; she realized why Noah looked so familiar—he resembled Cooper.
"I’m his brother," Noah volunteered, sensing her confusion.
"Then they..." Leah didn’t understand why Yolanda was with Cooper. Did they know each other?
Noah frowned, "Didn’t Yolanda tell you? Cooper is about to beco her ex-husband."
"What?" Leah was taken aback that Cooper’s missing wife was Yolanda; all the things she had said to Yolanda about Cooper’s pitiful previous wife made her wish she could sink into the ground.
One after the other, they boarded the plane.
Yolanda, walking behind, arrived at the first-class cabin to see Cooper standing there as if waiting for her.
She quickly approached.
"Which seat would you like?" Cooper suddenly asked.
"Huh?" Yolanda didn’t quite follow.
Didn’t they just have two seats?
Was Cooper letting her choose between the two?
