"Mom, I need to ask you sothing." Cooper Coldson was not one to give up easily.
Isabella Ross hadn’t actually lain down; upon hearing Cooper speak, she knew she had no choice but to open the door.
She sighed softly and got up to open it, wondering how much Cooper might have heard.
The door opened, and Isabella Ross let him in directly.
"Why does it have to be tonight that you need to talk?" She showed an impatient expression.
"Mom, Yolanda Greenwood’s child..." Cooper hesitated for a mont but decided not to beat around the bush, "Is it really Big Brother’s?"
"What are you saying?" Isabella Ross’s eyes widened, looking very angry.
At this point, she was sure that Cooper had not heard the whole truth.
With renewed confidence, she said, "Cooper, I know about your Big Brother and Yolanda’s situation, and I know you have your misgivings, but you should think about your Big Brother and the Coldson Family too."
Cooper frowned and remained silent. Why was it that when he was with Yolanda Greenwood, Isabella Ross did everything she could to encourage divorce and not support them, but now that it was his Big Brother, she wholeheartedly approved?
"Cooper, you’ve already decided to marry lissa, and the wedding has been held twice already. This cannot change," said Isabella Ross firmly.
"Why?" Cooper rarely questioned Isabella Ross like this.
"Because you are the Patriarch of the Coldson Family!" Isabella Ross’s expression grew stern, "You represent the Coldson Family’s dignity and your word is your bond. Now everyone knows that lissa is the one you’re going to marry; do you want to go back on that?"
The hand that Cooper held at his side clenched and then loosened again. "I never wanted to be the Family Head in the first place."
"Cooper Coldson!" Isabella Ross suddenly turned cold, "Do you even know what you’re saying?"
She hadn’t expected that Noah Coldson would go crazy over Yolanda Greenwood, and now Cooper was showing the sa tendency. The incompetence of her two sons was baffling to her.
She looked at Cooper with so disappointnt, "It’s late now; go back and rest. Rember, love and all these intangible things are not what you should concern yourself with. Don’t let your mother down."
After returning to his room, Cooper sat alone for a long ti.
Once Lola Gold promised to help Noah Coldson, she started thinking of ways to probe Yolanda Greenwood with questions.
"Yolanda, once you get that divorce certificate, you’ll be completely free and reborn."
Yolanda Greenwood smiled. In reality, although the divorce proceedings with Cooper hadn’t been finalized, she had ntally started a new life long ago.
So, whether she got that certificate or not was very important for Cooper, but for her, it didn’t matter.
"Yolanda, have you ever thought about..." Lola Gold deliberately leaned closer, "finding a new kind of man?"
Yolanda Greenwood looked at her without words, "Who said they wanted to raise a child with ?"
She tickled Lola Gold, "What? Are you planning to flee the battlefield before the baby is even born?"
"Hahaha..." Lola Gold, who was very ticklish, imdiately dodged far away, "I’m just afraid you might have a better option."
With that, she threw a aningful look at Yolanda Greenwood.
In fact, from the very mont Lola Gold spoke, Yolanda Greenwood guessed what she was up to.
She sighed softly and said seriously, "Lola, I can’t be with Big Brother."
"Why?" Lola Gold felt Yolanda’s emotion and moved back beside her, "Isn’t Big Brother good? He’s handso, strong, tender yet tough, and he treats you so well. Don’t you feel even a little tempted?"
"I can’t hurt him." Yolanda Greenwood looked at Lola Gold, "I can’t cling to him for a lifeti just because of a favor he did for during our childhood."
Lola Gold’s mouth twisted, her tone mocking, "Why can’t you? lissa Greenwood dared not touch anything, and yet she used that event to force Cooper to marry her, and you did save them, so why can’t you?"
"Because I am not lissa Greenwood."
"What’s wrong with being lissa Greenwood?" Lola Gold was obviously full of resentnt. "You’ve taken soone’s parents and husband, living the high life."
Yolanda Greenwood just smiled it off. Perhaps she had once thought the sa, but she knew that even if she could do it all over again, she still wouldn’t beco lissa Greenwood.
That’s why she wouldn’t be with Noah Coldson.
"Lola, I’ve already missed out once, and I don’t want to ss up a second ti," Yolanda reflected on the various aspects of her marriage to Cooper Coldson. "Marriage, indeed, is like a grave. If it is not two people who love each other deeply, or one loves the other deeply enough, it really can end with no survivors."
"Like what you have with Cooper now?"
Yolanda nodded.
Lola thought for a mont and then said, "So, you’re worried that big brother doesn’t love you enough?"
"Please, it’s not about not enough love. Big brother’s feelings for are more like those of an older brother for his younger sister, about repaying a debt, unrelated to romantic love." Yolanda shook her head. "He said he wanted to marry , probably because Isabella Ross said sothing."
The words of Isabella Ross kept echoing in Yolanda’s mind: Children of the Coldson Family must never be left out in the cold.
So, she wouldn’t marry Noah Coldson, but she still had to find a way to protect herself and her child.
Lola got her answer and imdiately sent a ssage to Noah Coldson.
[Yolanda feels that big brother wants to marry her only out of gratitude. So, big brother himself needs to think it over, whether it’s really about repaying a debt or if he truly wants to spend his life with Yolanda.]
Noah Coldson was drinking with Adam Sterling when he received the ssage.
He was indeed upset about being rejected by Yolanda, and seeing this ssage made him feel sowhat lost.
"What’s wrong?" Adam noticed his expression wasn’t right. "Whose ssage? Yolanda’s?"
Noah shook his head and passed the phone to Adam.
That night, he had invited Adam to drink, claiming it was a celebration for Adam, and hadn’t ntioned his intention to marry Yolanda Greenwood.
Adam quickly understood everything after seeing Noah’s chat history with Lola.
"You’ve disguised this as celebrating for , but you’re really trying to drown your sorrows. Captain, isn’t that a bit much?"
He handed the phone back to Noah, took a swig of his drink, his emotions not very evident in his eyes.
Noah didn’t say anything.
"Do you really want to marry Yolanda?" Adam turned to look at him.
Under the dim light, Noah’s face was half in shadow, half in light, and the sharp lines of his face seed even more cutting.
The n of the Coldson Family indeed all had striking features. Christopher Coldson, Noah Coldson, Cooper Coldson—any one of them was scream-inducing.
But the old Noah, his eyes held only murderous intent and ferocity. However, since returning to his country these past few months, his gaze had grown far more complex and at tis even sad.
Noah nodded. "I do."
Adam raised an eyebrow and asked him, "Out of gratitude? Or... have you fallen for her?"
Noah also turned to look at Adam, his eyes even more uncertain.
He had left ho at six, joining the Special Training Camp, and even abroad, he had encountered all kinds of beauties, but never had any other thoughts.
In the beginning, after leaving ho, the silhouette of that four-year-old girl had been his support.
Every ti he couldn’t bear it and wanted to give up, he thought of her, convinced she would bravely carry on.
So he persevered.
Having grown up, Noah had long forgotten how that little girl looked, even her silhouette had beco blurred, until he was reunited with Yolanda Greenwood.
