Noah Coldson was out of danger by that afternoon and woke up by evening.

Yolanda Greenwood had been by his bedside all along, and as soon as he woke up, she imdiately asked with concern, "How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort?"

"I’m fine," Noah smiled and shook his head, then looked over Yolanda’s shoulder at Adam Sterling and Lola Gold, apologizing, "Sorry to have worried you all."

"Good to know," Adam’s arm had already been bandaged.

"As expected, big brother," Lola thumbed up and said, "You’re really resilient."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

At dinner ti, Noah asked Yolanda and Lola to return to their room, saying he only needed Adam to stay with him.

Yolanda confird multiple tis that Noah was alright before she left with Lola.

As soon as they left, the expressions on Noah’s and Adam’s faces grew serious.

"It was Austin Wilder’s brother," Adam gritted his teeth, "He’s a lunatic. I don’t know where he got the information, but knowing he couldn’t kill you... he set his sights on Yolanda."

Austin Wilder, a fugitive previously captured by Noah, had resisted arrest too fervently and was killed by Noah in the process.

At that ti, his brother had escaped.

Noah had guessed that his brother might co seeking revenge, but he didn’t expect him to find the hospital and track down Yolanda.

"Lucky Yolanda is safe, otherwise I..." Noah didn’t dare think further, looking again at Adam’s arm, he added, "I owe you a big favor."

He knew that without Adam present, Yolanda would not have survived.

"Keep it for now, you can repay when you get a chance," Adam smiled nonchalantly, "But first, you have to make sure you stay alive. Don’t even think about defaulting."

Noah chuckled.

After having dinner, Yolanda and Lola went to bed early.

Being their first experience of such events, they were both very scared, and even now, thinking about it made their legs shake.

Lying in bed, Lola couldn’t resist chatting with Yolanda.

"Yolanda, are you asleep?"

"Almost!"

"Today was lucky with Dr. Sterling and Brother Noah, otherwise..." she shuddered at the thought.

"Hmm," Yolanda responded softly.

Lola hesitated for a mont, then tentatively asked, "Do you think it could be soone sent by lissa Greenwood?"

Yolanda didn’t know. The assailant had a gun and was clearly desperate—had lissa grown to hate her this much?

The words lissa had said that day echoed in her mind, reminding her that she was the one who was supposed to die; because of her, more and more people around her were getting hurt.

Her chest tightened, making it hard for her to breathe.

"Yolanda?" Lola called out again, not hearing a response, she continued, "Asleep then?" she guessed doubtfully, "Alright then, goodnight, sweet dreams!"

Yolanda couldn’t sleep at all, every ti she closed her eyes, she could see Noah covered in blood, she could even sll the pungent blood on herself.

Furthermore, lissa’s words kept ringing in her ears, "You’re the one who should die! You’re the one who should die!"

Yolanda remained in a dazed, half-sleeping state, unclear if she had slept or not.

After lying down for an indeterminate amount of ti, she vaguely sat up, feeling as if so sound was calling her.

She got out of bed.

"Yolanda?" Lola half-awake, had just fallen asleep but was still on edge, so the slight noise woke her.

"I’m going to the bathroom," Yolanda whispered softly, "Go back to sleep."

"Okay," Lola Gold responded, trying hard to stay awake, wanting to wait until Yolanda Greenwood returned.

But she was too sleepy, and it seed she had unwittingly dozed off for a while before she suddenly woke up, only to find that Yolanda still hadn’t co back.

Lola sat up in an instant, breaking out in a cold sweat.

"Yolanda?" She went to the corridor and tentatively called out, but there was no reply.

She didn’t know how long she had slept, only feeling like her heart was about to jump out.

She quickly headed to the bathroom, walking faster and faster until she broke into a run.

When she reached the restroom door, she felt a blast of cold wind and her legs went weak, but luckily, she steadied herself against the wall.

She imdiately knew that soone had opened the bathroom window.

Lola didn’t dare to think further; she supported herself against the wall and rushed into the bathroom as fast as she could and indeed, the window was open, with Yolanda standing near it.

She was terrified and imdiately rushed over to embrace Yolanda.

"Yolanda, don’t do anything foolish!" Lola cried out, "Don’t do anything foolish."

Yolanda’s whole body was cold as ice; she looked dazedly at Lola, "Lola, I wasn’t trying to do anything foolish, I just felt a bit... like I couldn’t catch my breath."

Lola held her tightly, crying uncontrollably, "Don’t do anything foolish, don’t!"

"No, I really wasn’t," Yolanda softly responded.

She didn’t even know how long she had been in the bathroom, or what had just happened; now, when she thought about it, it was all a blank.

Lola took Yolanda’s hand, and together they went back to the hospital room.

"Yolanda, can we sleep together? I’m really scared," Lola pleaded.

"Okay," Yolanda didn’t refuse.

The two squeezed onto the hospital bed together. Although the bed was small, having each other close was reassuring for them both.

In the darkness, Lola silently shed tears.

Although Yolanda hadn’t jumped just now, she always felt that if she had been even a mont later, Yolanda would have definitely jumped.

How could this be happening? Why was so much happening?

When would God stop torturing them?

The next morning, when Lola saw Adam Sterling, she told him about everything that had happened last night.

Adam talked with Yolanda and faintly sensed that she was very concerned about Noah Coldson’s injury, believing it was her responsibility.

"Yolanda," he earnestly explained, "the incident that day, Noah and I should have apologized to you and Lola."

Yolanda looked puzzled.

"Actually, that person was targeting us," Adam sighed deeply, "His brother had been legally punished by us, and he had escaped. He ca back to avenge his brother."

"So that’s it." Yolanda smiled bitterly, "I thought it was my fault again that brought trouble to you all."

"Yolanda, after such an event, do you feel that we brought trouble to you?"

Yolanda imdiately shook her head, "Of course not."

"So you see, we have never felt you were a burden," Adam patted her arm, "Yolanda, to us, you are very important, extrely important; do you understand?"

Yolanda looked at him blankly.

"Do you know how terrified Lola was last night?" Adam sighed again, "She didn’t sleep all night."

"I haven’t even told Noah yet because I’m afraid he would disregard his own life and co here to watch over you every night."

At that mont, Yolanda’s eyes welled up with tears, and she just wanted to say sothing when she suddenly felt a strange pain in her lower abdon.
