Cooper Coldson returned to the hospital room, and lissa Greenwood was visibly delighted.
"Cooper, you’re back," she looked at Cooper Coldson longingly, wanting him to co over and sit by her bed.
However, Cooper sat down in front of so docunts instead.
While flipping through the files, he asked carelessly, "How do you feel? Is this Dr. Spencer professional enough?"
lissa was taken aback, clearly not expecting Cooper to start by asking about Samuel Spencer’s professionalism—was it because Samuel had ntioned marriage?
She answered cautiously, "I suppose it’s okay; every ti I talk to him, I feel like my heart isn’t as lifeless anymore."
"That’s good then." Cooper Coldson continued working, still not bringing up the topic of marriage.
lissa clenched her teeth in frustration. She didn’t know what Cooper ant. Did he not want to marry her anymore?
It seed she had to push Jaxon Greenwood to hurry things along.
After Noah Coldson finished the discharge procedures for Lola Gold, he quickly returned to the military camp.
Adam Sterling waited outside with Yolanda Greenwood, and her mood visibly fluctuated upon seeing him.
"How is it? Is the room arranged?" Noah Coldson asked Adam Sterling upon eting him—as the infirmary beds were single beds and inconvenient for Yolanda and Lola to share, he had asked Adam to arrange a separate room for them.
"You still don’t trust my work?" Adam Sterling asked with arrogance.
"Alright then, you two go back and get so rest." Noah Coldson thought they needed so space to talk and, after delivering them to the room, left with Adam Sterling.
The rooms in the camp were actually simple modules, but they were fully equipped, especially the one for Yolanda and Lola, which had plenty of heating equipnt.
Upon entering, it felt warmly suffocating.
Once Lola removed her bulky down jacket, she didn’t take off her mask.
Yolanda sniffled and asked with concern, "Did your face get injured too? Is it serious?"
"Not serious." Hearing Yolanda’s concern brought back Lola’s suppressed feelings, and she struggled to control herself as she looked around.
Yolanda understood her all too well. She hugged Lola, sobbed, and asked, "Does it still hurt?"
"Silly girl, it doesn’t hurt anymore," Lola’s voice was also choked with emotion.
Were they really so unlucky that the heavens were against them?
"Take off your mask and let see," Yolanda pleaded.
Lola hesitated before removing the mask—after all, she couldn’t wear it while eating.
Her face had been hit by Ethan Taylor, and there were bruises from bumping around on the ground and doors—a scary mix of blues and purples.
Yolanda covered her mouth, pained, trying not to cry, but found herself unable to say a word.
"It’s really okay." Lola took her hand, "It was just a minor car accident, all in the past."
Yes, encountering Ethan Taylor and seeing Christopher Coldson’s selfishness amounted to a life accident for her.
She believed that, having gone through these ordeals and regrown her lost flesh, she would erge stronger than before.
Her gaze fixed on Yolanda, she declared confidently, "Yolanda, those who can’t bring us down will only make us stronger!"
Yolanda was moved, clearly touched by these words more than anything Adam Sterling had said these past few days.
She was right, even if everyone disliked her, she wasn’t the one at fault.
Lola noticed Yolanda’s face seed to regain so vitality and was especially pleased, feeling her trip hadn’t been in vain.
With less than half a month left before the year-end fashion show, Yolanda’s condition had evidently improved, and Lola had also beco familiar with everyone at the camp.
"Dr. Sterling, you should co to the show as well," Lola had acquired a new hobby—flirting with Adam Sterling.
"Not interested." Adam Sterling declined emotionlessly.
"Co on, our Captain and Yolanda will be there together, and I’m short a male companion," Lola raised an eyebrow, "missing a handso one at that."
"Then I’ll go," Alex Johnson suddenly appeared, interjecting himself.
"Scram, kid," Lola dismissed with disdain and continued to persuade Adam, "Dr. Sterling, Gray City University’s handso guy, please do it for . It’s so boring staying in the camp all the ti."
She nudged Yolanda nearby, "Yolanda, help convince him."
Yolanda smiled, "Dr. Sterling, we all hope you can co."
Adam Sterling surveyed everyone, and his eyes finally settled on Noah Coldson.
Noah nodded, "Why don’t you go? Aren’t you curious to see what clothes Yolanda has designed?"
"Alright, fine," Adam Sterling finally agreed.
That weekend, Noah Coldson even drove Yolanda and Lola shopping for gowns, clearly taking the event seriously.
At night, Yolanda and Lola lay in bed, whispering to each other.
"Do you think we’ll run into anyone familiar?" Lola spoke first, obviously referring to the Coldson Family mbers.
"I don’t know," Yolanda felt she was nearly forgetting Cooper Coldson; this isolated life suited her well.
If she returned to Gray City, the television, magazines, and internet would all emphasize that man’s presence and excellence, but they would also remind her that those who are unloved are never trusted.
"Let’s not talk about those depressing jerks," Lola shifted her sleeping position and stared at Yolanda’s abdon, "It seems more noticeable now."
Yolanda had been resting well and eating better of late, gaining back so weight, and the baby was over three months now, growing a bit.
Besides attending the TaLa International Show, she was due for a prenatal checkup on her return.
"Yes, we’ll need to be more careful as it grows," she resolved not to let Cooper Coldson know she was pregnant.
"We could move to another city to live," Lola mused, "Away from those disgusting n, just you, , and the babies."
Yolanda smiled, "We agreed, you’ll be the one providing for the three of us."
"I will try my hardest!"
They looked at each other and laughed together.
anwhile, in the hospital corridor, Richard Reyes brought the DNA test reports of lissa Greenwood and Eliana Reed.
Cooper Coldson fell silent for a long ti looking at the results; his suspicion was confird—Yolanda Greenwood had swapped lives with lissa, and it was possible lissa knew everything all along.
Suddenly, the door of the room opened, and Jaxon Greenwood walked out.
"Patriarch Greenwood!" Cooper stood up, still holding the DNA report.
Jaxon glanced at it and asked indifferently, "What? Still dealing with the company’s affairs?"
He felt sowhat sorry, "These past few days, you’ve indeed been burdened. lissa will be discharged tomorrow, so you can return to the office without worry."
Cooper didn’t explain but handed the report to Richard Reyes.
Richard prudently left.
"Patriarch Greenwood," Cooper looked at Jaxon, hesitating before speaking, "Let’s have a talk."
"Good, I also have sothing to tell you."
The two sat down on the chairs in the corridor.
