Yolanda Greenwood left the private room, only to bump into George Ross.
"Uncle, what are you doing here?"
George Ross quickly pulled her aside. He pointed toward the private room, "Is Assistant Reyes inside?"
Yolanda nodded.
"He ca to Ully Town and took you out to eat?" George Ross wondered aloud, "Just the two of you?"
"Yeah, I wanted to thank him," Yolanda didn’t hide anything.
George’s expression changed. With just the two of them occupying such a large private room, which even had a bedroom, their activities were self-evident.
He quickly solidified his suspicion that Yolanda must be Richard Reyes’s lover.
He forced a flattering smile, "Did you talk to Assistant Reyes about the compensation? Given your good relationship with him, he would surely agree to whatever you suggest."
"I didn’t ntion it," Yolanda stated bluntly, "Uncle, I think the compensation is too high. So, I can’t help with that."
"Too high?" George Ross glared angrily, "Do you have any idea how much money Assistant Reyes makes a year?"
Yolanda was at a loss for words, "What does his inco have to do with the compensation?"
Not daring to argue with Yolanda, George Ross switched back to sucking up, "What Uncle ans is, if this works out, both you and Assistant Reyes will benefit."
He reminded Yolanda again, "Besides, the money cos from Coldson Group, not from Assistant Reyes personally. Why miss out on a good thing?"
"Uncle, I really can’t help with this, and Assistant Reyes isn’t the kind of person who’s greedy for benefits. You should keep those thoughts to yourself."
She was ready to leave, "Uncle, I need to go back and check on Lola."
"You!" George Ross watched as Yolanda left without looking back, fuming.
"A whore who only knows how to be soone’s mistress and still feels superior? Acting all high and mighty, disgusting!" he muttered under his breath and then went back to the entrance to wait for Assistant Reyes.
He had finally found out that Assistant Reyes was dining here today, and to his surprise, it was with Yolanda. The two really had no sha at all.
While he inwardly cursed them both, the door to the private room opened.
The first man to exit had an imposing presence, his face stern, striding with purpose as if he disdained everything around him.
George Ross hesitated before tentatively calling out, "Assistant Reyes?"
Richard Reyes was following behind Cooper Coldson and turned at the call, "Deputy Group Leader Ross?"
Though he was a last-minute replacent, he had quickly grasped the situation and naturally knew of George Ross.
"Are you Assistant Reyes?" George Ross subconsciously looked towards the man who had already walked away, finding it hard to believe who that man could be!
Richard shifted his position to block George’s view, "Do you need sothing?"
Chuckling awkwardly, George said, "You recognize , Assistant Reyes? I’m honored. I heard you took over the project here, and I’ve been hoping for a chance to invite you to dinner. What do you think?"
"There’s no need for that," Richard said, walking away, "I’ll be dealing directly with your group leader about the industrial park. You don’t need to bother."
What does that an?
George Ross hurried after him, "What do you an by that, Assistant Reyes? I am the Deputy Group Leader of the developnt team, and I’ve always been in charge of liaising with Coldson Group."
Richard stopped and looked at George coldly, "Deputy Group Leader Ross, surely you don’t think you have nothing to do with Enzo Harper’s issue, do you?"
"..." George’s face went white in an instant, "Assistant Reyes, you can’t talk nonsense, I..."
Richard cut him off, "If you don’t want trouble, keep your distance!"
He scoffed disdainfully at a man who would betray even his own family; he had utter contempt for such people.
George was scared out of his wits. He hadn’t expected that Assistant Reyes would be so unlike Enzo Harper and found he was completely outmatched by soone from that social class.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he recalled Yolanda’s relationship with Assistant Reyes and regained so confidence.
"What’s the big deal? ssing around with a divorced woman and thinking he’s so kind of privileged scion?" George huffed derisively.
Still worried about Assistant Reyes’s earlier comnts, he decided to et with the developnt team leader.
However, when he called, he received the news that he had been dismissed.
"Leader, listen to ..." If he was ousted from the developnt team, how could he possibly survive in Ully Town?
"It’s over, George," the leader replied helplessly, "I can’t save you this ti. You’ve really hit a snag. Take care of yourself."
After hanging up, George was nearly driven mad with rage.
He had hoped to make a fortune from the Ully Town developnt project, and now he’d not only lost his wife but also his army.
He hated Richard Reyes intensely, but he didn’t dare do anything to him, so he transferred all his anger to Yolanda.
"This isn’t over!" George Ross said through gritted teeth.
When Yolanda returned, Aunt Ross told her that Lola Gold had gone out.
Concerned, she imdiately called.
Fortunately, Lola answered quickly, "Hello? Yolanda, what’s wrong?"
"Where are you?" Yolanda asked imdiately.
"Just out for a stroll," Lola laughed, "Don’t worry, I won’t do anything silly. I just want so ti alone. I’ll be back tonight."
"Let co and keep you company," Yolanda was still worried.
"No, really, there’s no need," Lola was firm, "Yolanda, I just want to be alone for a while. Don’t worry, I won’t do anything silly."
"I know you won’t do anything silly," Yolanda sighed softly, "Alright then, make sure you co back early."
After hanging up, she saw Aunt Ross looking worried.
"Aunt Ross, why have you co out?"
Aunt Ross had heard Yolanda’s conversation, "Yolanda, were you just talking to Lola on the phone? Is sothing wrong?"
"Ah?" Yolanda quickly denied, "It wasn’t Lola, it was another friend of mine."
Aunt Ross clearly didn’t believe her, "What’s actually going on? Lola seed off since yesterday."
"How could she have any trouble?" George Ross ca back at that mont, looking displeased at Yolanda, then chastised Aunt Ross, "Stop making things up. No one’s out to get you."
Aunt Ross lowered her eyes and let out a wry smile, "Maybe I’m overthinking."
Dissatisfied with George’s attitude, Yolanda gently supported Aunt Ross, "Aunt Ross, let take you out for a walk."
"Okay," Aunt Ross nodded, feeling quite stifled and eager to go outside.
So, Yolanda led Aunt Ross out of the Ross Family and took a walk nearby along the riverbank.
Aunt Ross began apologetically, "These past few days since we ca back, you all have been put out. If you want to go back, we’ll head back tomorrow."
Yolanda was stunned, go back? Go back to where?
