Jett Sterling sucked in a breath from the pain, "Silas, you’re playing dirty with ."

Silas Prescott smiled gently, "The fabric of a scarf is too thin, it can’t really stop the bleeding. I have gauze in my car, you can borrow it if you want."

"If I use your stuff, I’m afraid you’re gonna poison ."

After he finished, he pulled Chloe Nash into the car.

But Silas stopped them, "Chloe, it’s so late and you’re going ho with him, aren’t you afraid your husband will get jealous?"

Chloe’s expression was calm, "He got hurt saving , it’s only right that I take him ho. Mr. Prescott, thank you for what you did tonight."

She ignored Silas’s reaction and got in the car with Jett Sterling.

As he watched their car drive off, the gentleness on Silas’s face gradually faded away.

In its place was a dark, brooding look.

Every ti he thought of Chloe going ho with Jett, Silas’s temple pulsed violently.

His reactions to Chloe were becoming more and more like how he used to be with Sienna.

Sotis, he even thought she was Sienna.

The fierce possessiveness he felt for her made him want to lose control.

Silas took out a cigarette, lit it, trying to use the nicotine to smother this madness inside.

But after several cigarettes, the feeling only grew wilder, refusing to be suppressed.

In the end, Silas ground his cigarette butt hard into the ground under his foot.

He got in the car and headed in the direction of Jett Sterling’s house.

Chloe felt uneasy as she followed Jett into his ho.

Facing the unfamiliar surroundings, she stood at the doorway, unable to step inside for a long mont.

Jett handed her a pair of pink slippers, "Why are you just standing there dumbly, forgot your own house? You lived here for three years."

Three years.

Jett and Chloe had lived here for three years, she should be familiar with everything here.

Thinking of that only made Chloe more nervous.

She couldn’t help but clench her fists tightly.

Seeing her so tense, Jett grinned mischievously, "What, worried I’ll force myself on you? Chloe, do you really think I’m that bad?"

Chloe shook her head quickly, "No, I’ve just not been here in years, it feels strange."

She changed into the slippers and went inside, "Where’s the first aid kit? I’ll help you bandage your wound."

Jett looked a bit surprised, "Chloe, you went abroad, you didn’t lose your mory. Did you really forget where everything is in this house?"

Chloe lowered her eyes and said, "We’re not together anymore, I’m not going to act like I have the right to everything."

Hearing her say that, Jett gave a bitter smile, "After all these years, you sure know your boundaries now."

He handed Chloe the first aid kit.

He looked down, letting her bandage him up.

Jett’s feelings were all over the place.

He’d wanted to ask her several tis to get back together, but his pride kept every word stuck in his throat.

The light in the room was dim, Chloe’s shadow cast against the curtain.

It flickered, now near, now distant.

Silas, still waiting downstairs, had already smoked who knows how many cigarettes.

He had the urge to rush upstairs, just to see what they were doing, to overhear their conversation.

A bit of ash, still glowing, fell on the back of Silas’s hand; he didn’t even feel the pain.

His gaze never left the upstairs window.

Suddenly, the light upstairs went out.

In an instant, sothing in Silas’s heart snapped.

He rushed upstairs without thinking, banging on the door, "Jett Sterling, if you lay a finger on her, I’ll make you a cripple."

His voice was thick with panic he couldn’t suppress.

Just then, the door opened, and Chloe stood there, unhard.

She looked at him, surprised, "What are you doing here?"

Silas grabbed her arm, "If I hadn’t co, would you have betrayed your marriage?"

"What are you talking about? The power just went out."

When the lights ca on again in the room, the tension in Silas’s face finally eased.

He glanced at Jett’s arm, his tone brooking no argunt, "Since you’re done bandaging, I’ll take you ho."

He didn’t give Jett a chance to react, pulling Chloe downstairs with him.

Chloe watched him, nervous, "Were you following ?"

After all, Silas used to do this kind of thing all the ti.

Silas didn’t bother to hide it, "I was just worried sothing would happen to you. If you didn’t co to Julian’s birthday party, he’d cry."

The explanation sounded shaky, but Chloe believed him.

After all, she was Chloe Nash now, not Sienna; Silas didn’t have any reason to act that way toward her.

She curved her lips into a small smile, "I’ll be at Julian’s birthday party, that’s a promise."

Even though she didn’t want to go back to the Prescott Family, just the thought of Julian crying made her soften.

Besides, she didn’t want to owe Silas this favor.

Seeing her agree, Silas opened the passenger side door for her.

"Get in, I’ll drive you ho."

Even though Chloe really didn’t want to get in, she’d already agreed; to keep refusing would seem deliberate.

She was nervous the whole drive.

This car brought back so many mories—for countless tis in this cramped space, she and Silas had lost themselves in each other.

Just picturing it sent a cold sweat down Chloe’s back.

She took out her phone and sent a WeChat ssage to Julian Prescott.

[Sweetheart, Auntie can co to your birthday party on Saturday.]

Julian read the ssage over and over.

When he was sure he’d read it right, he rolled in bed with excitent.

Mom was coming to his birthday party; he had to make sure he dressed his coolest.

That way, Mom would love him even more.

At that thought, Julian hopped out of bed and started digging through his closet for the best outfit.

When Silas got ho, the room was covered in clothes.

He frowned, "Julian, it’s the middle of the night—what are you doing making such a ss?"

Julian pouted and typed on his tablet.

[My clothes are ugly. I want new ones.]

How could Silas not know what the little guy was thinking? He bent down and pinched Julian’s cheek.

"You care that much about Dr. Nash’s impression of you?"

Julian nodded his little head like a pounding drumstick.

Of course he had to care about how Mommy saw him—he couldn’t talk yet, so he’d have to rely on his looks to win her over.

Silas bent down and scooped him off the floor, carrying him toward his own bedroom.

"Sleep first. Tomorrow Daddy will take you shopping."

Only when his son was sound asleep did Silas take out Chloe’s scarf.

He held it to his nose, breathing in again and again.

The familiar scent plunged him back into agony.

A rough, hoarse sound escaped his throat.

"Sienna, why do I sll you on soone else?"
