Sienna was woken up by the sound of her phone ringing.
Half-awake, she fumbled around her pillow for her phone, but ended up touching sothing hard.
She thought it was a banana, and was about to toss it aside to keep searching for her phone, when she realized this thing was too heavy to pick up.
She figured Silas was ssing with her on purpose, and mumbled, "Silas, I don’t want a banana, I want my phone."
But as soon as she finished speaking, she heard the man’s low chuckle.
Sienna sensed sothing was off, snapped her eyes open, and was greeted by a rather indecent sight.
She imdiately let go of what she was holding, stared at Silas’s mischievous eyes, and stamred, "I—I didn’t do it on purpose."
Silas looked down at her. "Didn’t even wake up and already teasing ? Sienna, you want a repeat of last night’s dream?"
"I didn’t, I was just looking for my phone."
Silas chuckled, ruffled her hair, picked up the phone from the nightstand, saw the caller ID, smiled, and pressed answer.
"Captain Thorne, Sienna’s still being lazy in bed—whatever you need, just tell ."
Sienna scrambled to grab her phone back. "Silas, who told you that you could just answer my calls?"
Silas didn’t care. "Captain Thorne’s not a stranger, doesn’t matter who picks up."
Hearing the two of them bicker, Nathaniel Thorne already guessed that the two hadn’t gotten out of bed yet.
Waking up in the sa bed—any fool could guess what’s going on.
A look of indescribable bitterness flashed across Nathaniel’s face.
But it vanished quickly.
He spoke calmly, "My mom made breakfast for Sienna—the stuff she likes. She wants to bring it upstairs for you guys, but is worried you’re not up yet, so she asked if Sienna could co down for a bit."
Sienna caught the underlying aning in Nathaniel’s words, and imdiately crawled out of bed.
"Brother Nathaniel, I’ll co down right now."
After hanging up, she glanced at Silas.
Pinched his jaw and asked, "Are you jealous?"
Silas raised an eyebrow. "Want the truth?"
"Yeah."
"Then yes, I’m jealous."
He envied Nathaniel for sharing fifteen years of childhood with Sienna, envied that he got to protect her all those years.
Seeing his pouty face, Sienna smiled and said, "He’s not like you. He’s just the neighbor’s older brother. There’s no romance between us."
"But you guys have that childhood engagent."
"That was just the grown-ups joking around. You’re jealous over that too? You really are a king of jealousy."
Silas pulled her into his arms, dipped his head, and kissed her lips. "Yeah, I’m totally jealous. And now I need so comfort."
Sienna felt like ever since Silas lost his mory, he’d beco adorable.
Even knew how to act cute now. He never used to be like this.
She laughed and kissed him. "Is that comforting enough?"
Silas shook his head. "Nope, gotta make it a proper French kiss at least."
Sienna pushed him away. "Let go wash up—after breakfast, I’ll give you a refill."
With that, she ran into the bathroom in her slippers.
When she finished washing up and was about to open the door, she saw Silas watching her eagerly.
Suddenly, she rembered the agreent they made—to trust each other and always be honest.
Turning back to Silas, she said, "I asked Brother Nathaniel to help look into soone. I bet that’s why he’s calling. Don’t get jealous, okay? You’re the one I love."
Hearing that, all of Silas’s gloom instantly vanished.
"Go ahead, I’ll wait for you to co back for breakfast."
After the door closed, Silas grinned to himself, muttering, "So mutual trust really can be this wonderful."
Julian Prescott ca out of his bedroom and found his dad beaming like a fool.
Rubbing his eyes, he asked, "Dad, seeing you smile like that—are you and Mom gonna give a baby sister?"
Silas walked over, bent down, picked him up, and kissed his cheek. "Just one sister’s too easy, Dad will get you two—a little brother and a little sister, how about that?"
Julian clapped his little hands excitedly. "Yes yes! Go, Dad!"
"Co on, let’s go wash up, then take you and Mom on a picnic."
Sienna knocked on the Thorne Family’s door, where Mrs. Thorne was busy in the kitchen.
Seeing her co in, she rushed to greet her. "Sienna, I made your favorite crab buns, they’ll be ready in just a mont. Wait here, okay?"
"Oh, thank you, Aunt Thorne."
Nathaniel handed her a file folder and said gravely, "Owen Paxton was adopted by the Paxton Family as an orphan. When he was in college, the Paxton ho caught fire, and Mr. and Mrs. Paxton died in the blaze.
At that ti, Silas was working with the school on a joint project. Owen was an outstanding student, so Silas brought him onto the project team. Because he was so impressive, Silas kept him close even before Owen graduated.
You could say Silas gave Owen his big break. He shouldn’t have any reason to betray him.
But lately, he’s been in frequent contact with Silas’s mother, Sophie Somrs. I think they’re plotting sothing no one knows about."
Sienna stared at the file, lost in thought.
Although Sophie Somrs is Silas’s mother, she doesn’t have any maternal feelings for him.
She’s been so close with Silas’s assistant, it can’t be to help Silas—she must be scheming while he’s lost his mory.
The recent leak of Prescott Group’s new phone, the old shareholders stirring things up and trying to replace the CEO—might all be Sophie’s doing.
But she’s already divorced Henry Prescott, and with her status, no one would listen to her.
Unless she’s got a good card up her sleeve.
And that card is Owen Paxton.
The old man gave the CEO’s seal to Owen.
On the surface, it looks like he had no choice, but dig a little deeper and it feels more like a setup.
So who’s the one behind the scenes?
