Eleanor dismissed her inner doubts and checked in with her classmates.
When it was her turn, the receptionist said, "Miss Winslow, we’re very sorry, but the room we reserved for you has a broken light bulb, and we don’t have any other rooms of the sa type available. We’ve upgraded you to a room on the first floor for free. Is that okay?"
The original room had a problem, and upgrading the room type as an apology was the hotel’s standard practice. Eleanor didn’t think much of it and nodded in agreent.
Julian Jacobs subtly frowned.
If he rembered correctly, the first floor of this hotel consisted of suites with private hot tubs—who gets an upgrade like that?
"Senior, do you want to switch rooms with ?" Eleanor asked Julian Jacobs quietly. "You’ve been born with a silver spoon, you might not be used to staying in a standard room."
Primarily, Julian wasn’t in great health, and Eleanor hoped he’d stay sowhere nicer, so he’d be in a better mood and health.
"Weren’t you also born with a silver spoon?" Julian Jacobs smiled, looking down at her. "Either way, young girls are ant to enjoy life—so you should stay sowhere nice."
"Oh." Eleanor didn’t say anything further.
The others took the elevator upstairs, and Eleanor followed the attendant to the suite area on the first floor.
That’s when she found out that the first-floor suite was a one-bedroom with a private hot tub—ten tis the price of a usual room.
The private hot tub was outside the living room balcony, not large, only about twenty square ters, and was surrounded by bamboo and flowers.
Through the gaps, she could faintly see the private hot tub in the suite next door.
Eleanor felt the distance was quite close, so she walked over and craned her neck to look, seeing a n’s wristwatch on the balcony table next door.
Luckily, she couldn’t see inside the next room, so presumably, they couldn’t see her either. She finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Entering the room, Eleanor sharply noticed so differences—
The sheets weren’t the hotel’s usual cotton; they were silk that she preferred.
A bouquet of vibrant golden coast roses sat on the nightstand.
Eleanor recalled Julian Jacobs’s comnt that "young girls are ant to enjoy life." Could it be... Julian Jacobs upgraded her room?
No way.
If it were Julian Jacobs, why wouldn’t he upgrade his own room?
With his financial capacity, buying this hot spring hotel would rely be a matter of willingness.
Was it really just her good luck, as the hotel receptionist claid?
"Knock, knock, knock!"
The knocking snapped Eleanor out of her thoughts.
She opened the door to see Delia Sullivan standing outside.
"Student Sullivan, why are you here by yourself?" Eleanor glanced around and didn’t see the other three.
"Eleanor, I saw you with your boyfriend at the food street last ti," Delia Sullivan said straightforwardly.
Food street?
Boyfriend?
Was it the ti Adrian Grant ca to school?
Eleanor felt bewildered and asked in confusion, "Why are you bringing this up?"
"Don’t play dumb!" Delia Sullivan scoffed. "Eleanor, you have a boyfriend. Granted, such a successful guy might not actually be your boyfriend, but Eleanor—be satisfied with what you have. Two-timing and being promiscuous are never good things!"
Delia Sullivan’s words were dripping with malice, almost suggesting Adrian Grant was Eleanor’s sugar daddy.
Eleanor understood and found it rather absurd: "Delia Sullivan, are you trying to challenge because you’re afraid I’ll take soone away from you? So, which guy you like is interested in ?"
Eleanor wasn’t sure who this guy might be; she had no shortage of people confessing or secretly asking for her contact details.
"You—!" Delia Sullivan gritted her teeth. "Eleanor, I’m just reminding you—you’re not single, so you shouldn’t be with other n!"
"Junior Sullivan!"
Before Delia Sullivan could finish, Julian Jacobs’s voice suddenly intervened.
Julian Jacobs walked over from the end of the corridor.
His gaze was calm, his steps unhurried, yet sohow he gave Delia Sullivan an unsettling feeling!
Delia Sullivan felt a twinge of guilt, and at the sa ti, a bit embarrassed to be under Julian Jacobs’s stare.
She averted her eyes, not daring to make eye contact with him.
"Junior Sullivan, what are you talking about?" Julian Jacobs approached with a smile.
"Oh, I wasn’t saying anything." Delia Sullivan forced a casual smile. "I just wanted to gossip a bit about Eleanor—people have been talking about her having a partner, and I saw it myself before!"
Eleanor found Delia Sullivan to be quite uninteresting, so she leaned against the door fra and checked her phone ssages.
Julian Jacobs imdiately noticed Eleanor’s disinterest in engaging with Delia Sullivan, his eyes flickered with amusent.
"Junior Sullivan, people can break up when dating, and even marriages can end. Whether in terms of relationships or relationship status, nothing is permanent."
Though his tone was polite, Delia Sullivan inexplicably sensed a hint of him siding with Eleanor.
Did senior hear what I just said to Eleanor?!
"Senior, I—I didn’t an anything by it, I just, just..." Delia Sullivan was embarrassed and tried to justify herself.
But before she could finish her sentence, the door to the suite next door unexpectedly opened from within.
First, she saw a pair of incongruously formal trousers and polished shoes, then, as she looked up, a man’s light blue shirt and tastefully fastened sapphire cuffs. He had a slim waist and broad shoulders, ending in a long neck.
Before anyone could see his face clearly, the man turned and walked in another direction, wearing a Bluetooth headset, seemingly on a call, speaking in German.
His tall, straight back, combined with an air of noble indifference, was captivating.
Eleanor’s breath caught, her fingers silently clenched— that back, that man was unmistakably Adrian Grant!
What was Adrian Grant doing here?
And staying right next to her?!
"Eleanor, are you feeling unwell?" Julian Jacobs sharply noticed Eleanor’s complexion had changed.
Eleanor forced a smile, "I’m a little dizzy, so I won’t be joining everyone in the water later."
Delia Sullivan shot a dissatisfied look at Eleanor, thinking she was just being unnecessarily fussy.
But it was just as well Eleanor wouldn’t go in the water, leaving her the chance to stay by Julian Jacobs’s side!
However, that happy thought lasted no more than two minutes— because Julian Jacobs decided not to get in the water either!
Eleanor excused herself to use the restroom and went to the front desk to inquire if there were any other rooms available, but the response was negative.
In other words, if she were to stay here tonight, she had no choice but to stay in the suite next to Adrian Grant, with no other options!
"I’d like to know, was the room upgrade arranged by your hotel, or was it soone’s doing?" Eleanor asked directly.
The hotel receptionist was montarily stupefied but quickly recovered, flashing a standard professional smile: "Miss Winslow, this was, of course, the hotel’s decision. Who did you have in mind?"
Suddenly, Eleanor sensed sothing, looking to the right.
A tall man with long legs erged from the conference room on the right, followed by Charles Rhodes holding docunts.
Adrian Grant ca to a halt, eting Eleanor’s eyes from several ters away.
