Royal Velastra Hotel
"Wow, everything’s so sparkly." Ellie glanced around the decoration and lighting with glistening eyes.
It was the first ti she had seen such shiny decorations.
Leonard smiled briefly at Ellie’s cheerful state.
He snapped his fingers to beckon for so nearby hotel employees. "Have soone clean Ellie and dress her nicely. She’s now part of my people."
"Yes," the hotel employees obliged and swiftly went to work.
Once Ellie’s accommodation was completed, Leonard’s expression turned cold.
"Drag this person to the basent level. I’m also curious what his objective is."
"Understood," Curtis received the command and dragged Ted to the basent level.
"What do we do with this corpse?" Mirelle asked, pointing at Redflow, which had long been chopped to pieces by Claudia.
Leonard glanced at the corpse with an indifferent gaze. Regardless of whether this person was indeed the sa person who attempted to assassinate him or not, he had identified him as an enemy.
After all, their last attempt to attack him ant he was an enemy.
And unlike Claudia, who was fortunate enough to have Mirelle to shield her, this person didn’t have anyone.
"Send it over to Caroline for experints," Leonard instructed.
He might as well gain more leverage over her by bringing her suitable experintal materials.
The so-called Berserk substance still required more testing, so it was just right to use the corpse to help accelerate the progress.
Was it considered inhumane or immoral?
Absolutely!
But so what?
Had the person who failed and succumbed to death been on their side, then it would have been hard to imagine what kind of fate awaited them.
Being nice to your enemy was equivalent to being cruel to yourself.
Leonard had no intention of harming himself with ridiculous kindness.
Soti later, Mirelle exited the premises to head toward the basent level as well, leaving Claudia in the lobby.
"I—"
Before Claudia could speak up, Leonard tossed a token toward her side.
She caught the token and glanced at it in confusion.
"That’s a permit token to leave the city. Take it and never let see you again." Leonard kept his back toward her and said coolly.
Although she didn’t successfully capture Redflow, it remained true that she had expended most of his strength.
Claudia held the permit token with a dazed expression. "You’re freeing ?"
She found it hard to believe that he would actually let her go. Moreover, the slave contract binding them together was still active.
However, right when she had such a mindset, she noticed Leonard had personally broken the contract.
"There, you are no longer bound by the slave contract." He coolly said and gestured with his hand to dismiss her. His clear annoyance was evident. It was as if he could no longer be bothered with her affair.
’Tsk, who cares about you anyway?’ Claudia sneered inwardly.
She stored the permit token, turned around, and exited the hotel without any lingering feeling.
Once Claudia was gone, Leonard narrowed his eyes.
"Follow her. If there’s no one after her, then just let her leave. But if there is, capture them." He calmly said.
Soon, the space fluctuated slightly, seemingly responding to his command.
Needless to say, that was Logan, who had been hiding in the shadows.
Ever since Leonard deployed the Shadows, Logan had been hiding in the dark to protect him.
Of course, Logan only reappeared after Leonard got caught sneaking away.
He must say his vent escape tactic was quite effective.
Unfortunately, he doubted it would work again.
Now that these people realized he didn’t mind getting dirty to achieve his goal, they would start having the ventilation path patrolled.
Soti later, Leonard returned to his suite and undid his disguise. He plopped onto the bed with an exhausted look.
"I wanted to recruit so people. But other than Ellie... I couldn’t find anyone else." He glanced at the ceiling with a soft sigh. Despite not achieving his goal in an ideal way, he sure gained sothing fruitful.
The vengeance for Irene was basically confird.
"Thank you for saving again, Irene." He murmured, and a droplet of tears seeped through the corner of his eyes. As much as he wanted to control and regulate his emotions, there were just tis when he couldn’t do so.
Her death could have been totally prevented if he hadn’t treaded the thin line.
"Hah, I can only strive for the better and prevent any more Irene from occurring." Determined, Leonard began reading through the docunts.
These docunts covered an extensive amount of information, which was the sole reason he paid a hefty price for them from Cassandra.
As he browsed through the information, he made sure to cross-reference with the information obtained from the Crimson Guards.
If there were sothing amiss or a difference in the investigation file from the Crimson Guards, then Leonard would be imnsely disappointed.
Seconds soon turned to minutes, and minutes soon turned to hours.
Despite many hours having passed, his eyes remained firm and focused.
This kind of work was no different than his original modern world when he had to browse through multiple docunts for the company.
It was light work for him.
An unknown amount of ti had passed by, and Leonard held a solemn expression.
"Everything aligned." He stored the docunts and pondered. So of the docunts from Cassandra weren’t even as extensive as the docunts from the Crimson Guards’ investigation.
Therefore, he couldn’t verify so of the investigation reports.
Nevertheless, Leonard could at least be reassured that he wasn’t fed with misinformation.
He got out of bed and approached the windows. The weather was cloudy and showed signs of rain.
"After a long bloodbath, a rain to cleanse the streets isn’t bad," Leonard muttered. His trip to the slum had made him realize how powerless he was.
Many people suffered in every corner, and despite his relief efforts, it wouldn’t be enough. The root of the problem needed to be treated.
Amidst his philosophical renewal of this endless world, a guard knocked on the door from outside.
"Crown Prince, you have a guest, Wesley Livingstone."
"Let him in."
