BOOM!!!

The Cherry Bomb traced an arc through the air, detonating violently against the massive wild boar's body.

A gigantic pillar of fire surged beneath the moonlight, unleashing a shockwave that flattened the surrounding flas and tall grass.

To this day, the Cherry Bomb remained the most devastating weapon in Bai Mu's arsenal, and it clearly hadn't outlived its usefulness even in a C-grade Script. As the smoke and flas dissipated, the massive boar finally collapsed.

Drained of all strength, it tumbled down the hillside. The black, cursed snakes writhing around it had been blasted away, revealing its torn and bloodied flesh.

The Cherry Bomb had pierced its defenses and blasted through its thick hide. With the black, cursed snakes no longer entangling the beast, Bai Mu realized that the creature was already riddled with gaping wounds.

Its massive body was covered in so many holes that it resembled a grueso honeycomb.

It rolled all the way to the bottom of the hill, but it was far from dead; a single Cherry Bomb wasn't enough to kill it instantly. Soon after, Bai Mu watched as those black, snake-like tendrils began oozing out of its many cavities.

Bai Mu felt that these eerie tendrils were more akin to the boar's blood. The beast seed to exist in a paradoxical state caught between life and death.

Once the tendrils enveloped its form, the creature hauled itself back to its feet. This ti, it locked its baleful gaze onto Bai Mu, kicked up the dirt with its hooves, and charged directly at him.

Bai Mu's original intention had been to draw its aggro anyway. After all, he had gone to great lengths to save all those people; if the boar simply trampled them to death in one fell swoop, all his efforts would have been in vain.

Judging from its recent reaction, this thing was not so invincible, damage-immune specter. At the very least, explosions were highly effective against it.

System-wise, it could likely be classified as a zombie-type entity. The "Anti-Zombie Marine Corps dal of Honor" provided a 30% bonus damage against such monsters, aning Bai Mu actually held a slight advantage in this fight.

The gaping wounds inflicted by the Cherry Bomb showed no signs of healing. Looking at the scars covering its entire body, it clearly lacked any sort of absurd, instantaneous regeneration.

This gave Bai Mu the assurance that the monstrosity could be killed. Even if he couldn't outright destroy it, he could definitely dismber it to strip away its mobility. Blowing off all its legs would stop it from running, and it certainly couldn't just roll around trying to bite people as a limbless torso, right?

However, the beast's hide was incredibly thick, and it was roughly the size of an elephant. Physical attacks would yield very poor results, so Bai Mu decided to test out his recently acquired magic.

He retrieved the doll from his inventory and summoned Xiao Wei.

The petite girl draped in the Traveler's Cloak materialized right beside Bai Mu.

Xiao Wei was completely shrouded beneath the dusty gray cloak, with only a few wisps of soft blonde hair peeking out from the hood and fluttering in the wind. As a summon with a simplified stat panel, she could equip items in advance just like a Player. Before entering the Script, Bai Mu had given her the Traveler's Cloak, the Noble's Leather Armor, and the Hunter's Leg Guards. Even if she underwent Form Transformation halfway through, this equipnt would not disappear. "Xiao Wei, attack that wild boar with Magic Missile and Frost Arrow!" Bai Mu commanded.

While waiting in the inventory, Xiao Wei couldn't receive the Script's briefing like he did, but as his summon, she executed his orders without hesitation. She imdiately began charging her power. Two seconds later, six glowing projectiles traced beautiful tails of light through the darkness, directly striking the massive boar's head.

The creature was charging across a wide-open adow with absolutely no obstacles. Given its sheer size, it would have been difficult for the Magic Missiles to miss, even without their homing capabilities.

Magic-based skills were clearly much more devastating against it. Where the Magic Missiles struck, the black, cursed snakes began writhing erratically before losing their supernatural vigor, turning into pools of stagnant blood that splattered across the grass.

Any wild grass the tainted blood touched withered and died in an instant. Though this lost blood was rely a drop in the bucket for the giant boar and did nothing to slow its charge, the reaction cented Bai Mu's theory: the monster was vulnerable to external attacks.

It could be killed; it just had a remarkably large health pool.

Its overall combat prowess was likely on par with a final boss from a D-grade Script, like the Tank from the Journey of Death, or perhaps even stronger. Defeating it head-on would be no easy feat. Using the team that cleared the Haunted Ancient Mansion as a reference, even a full party of five average D-grade Players would face a very high risk of being completely wiped out by this beast.

Its stats were simply too high. Items like "Boor Bile" would be practically useless against it, and summoning a Charger to ram into it would be like a praying mantis trying to stop a carriage.

Even if Bai Mu summoned the Witch, she would inevitably be crushed under its massive hooves.

The Cherry Bomb had only managed to shave off a sliver of its health. This was an all-around juggernaut with monstrous attack power, impenetrable defense, and boundless stamina. Without a reliable way to break its guard, a Player would just be tossed into the air like a ragdoll. Even trying to outrun it would be nearly impossible, as it charged with the speed and montum of a speeding semi-truck.

Despite all this, Bai Mu felt no fear. He was already deeply accustod to scenes like this. Xiao Wei, on the other hand, pressed tightly against his side, seemingly a bit frightened.

After unleashing the Magic Missiles, Xiao Wei followed up with his next command, casting Frost Arrow.

Tiny ice crystals coalesced half a ter in front of her, forming a sharp bolt of ice that shot straight toward the enormous boar.

The icy projectile shattered into pieces upon striking the beast. A layer of white frost crystallized over the boar's coarse bristles, inflicting a slow debuff, though it barely hindered its terrifying speed.

It remained as unstoppable as a rampaging chariot, rapidly closing the distance between them. Bai Mu stood unhurried. He still had his Doppelganger Transformation skill card; even if he took a direct hit, he wouldn't die. Besides, he could easily recall Xiao Wei into his inventory right before the impact.

As for the toxic effects of the Mushroom Cap, there was a high probability they would be completely useless against an undead monstrosity like this.

But the Cherry Bomb had proven effective, and that was more than enough.

However, Bai Mu wasn't in a rush to throw another Cherry Bomb. Instead, he pulled out the Book of the Witch and aid it at the massive boar. Right before casting a random magic spell, he activated the Critical Strike skill attached to the Lucky Dagger.

In truth, during his week of rest, he had discovered a hidden chanic while practicing in the Training Room.

If he unleashed a random spell from the Book of the Witch within one second of activating Critical Strike, the resulting magic would be unimaginably devastating. It seed that Critical Strike's guaranteed critical hit effect could directly influence the power of his other items.

This ti was no exception. The mont he triggered the random magic, the sky abruptly shifted.

The clear night sky was swiftly swallowed by dark clouds. A dense, oppressive thunderhead gathered directly above the charging boar. In the very next second, a golden bolt of lightning bridged the heavens and the earth, violently blasting into the monstrous beast.

And it didn't stop at just one. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Lightning rained down rcilessly, striking the earth in an endless barrage!

Within re seconds, over a dozen searing bolts had struck the boar. The deafening roar of the thunder was earth-shattering, erupting like a catastrophic storm.

Glancing at the cast history in the Book of the Witch, Bai Mu found the na of the spell.

[Na: Thundercloud Lightning]

[Type: Active Skill]

[Quality: Perfect]

[Effect: Consus 1000 points of Mana to summon a thundercloud that continuously strikes the target with lightning. Consecutive lightning strikes will continuously increase in damage. The thundercloud lasts for 10 minutes or until all targets within the area are annihilated.]

[Requirents: Spirit attribute above 50, has learned the skill "Lightning Bolt", maximum Mana of 1000 points or more.] [Note: Lightning bolt, lightning bolt, lightning bolt!]

The distinct scent of roasted pork filled the air. The massive wild boar had collapsed less than ten ters away from Bai Mu, reduced to a blackened, smoldering lump of charcoal. Standing calmly in place, Bai Mu silently observed the charred remains and pulled back his hood.

Up on the hill, the villagers cast their gazes toward him.

The lingering flashes of lightning reflected in the young won's eyes. So of them still rembered Bai Mu's appearance; even though he had been wearing the night-traveling hood, he had never intentionally concealed his face.

The woman who had tried to hand her child to him, in particular, had a deeply ingrained impression of his features.

Wearing an expression of absolute awe and terror, she fell to her knees, bowing repeatedly in Bai Mu's direction while muttering reverent prayers under her breath.

Moved by her actions, the rest of the villagers followed suit, dropping to their knees to worship him.

Bai Mu witnessed the scene and perfectly understood their reaction. To people from such a primitive society, the spectacle they had just witnessed was nothing short of a divine miracle. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Since they didn't share a common language, inspiring sheer reverence would actually make it much easier to establish a cooperative dynamic. However, simply killing one giant wild boar clearly wasn't enough to instantly complete the Main Quest.

It had taken Thundercloud Lightning less than thirty seconds to blast the monstrous boar into unrecognizable ash.

The mont he slew the beast, a system notification chid in his mind.

[You have slain the Mountain Evil God—Resentful Pig.]

The countdown for the Main Quest was still ticking away. Judging by this creature's na, there seed to be more than one Mountain Evil God. If there was a Resentful Pig, there was a very high chance he would have to face a Resentful Wolf, a Resentful Tiger, or sothing similar.

'Since there was a notification, killing these things will definitely factor into the final reward settlent,' Bai Mu pondered. It seed he would have to carefully hunt down more information about these Mountain Evil Gods moving forward.

Of course, he didn't let his guard down just because he had killed the boar. He once again shifted his mobile vision wards to a higher vantage point, checking to see if his battle with the beast had drawn anything else toward his location.

Fortunately, he didn't spot any further anomalies. It appeared the Script wasn't cruel enough to send a second Mountain Evil God charging in imdiately, trying to wear him down through a relentless war of attrition.
