After spending a brief mont understanding Xiao Wei's situation, Bai Mu bought a "Tom and Jerry" disc from the community store. He popped it into the DVD player beneath the television and had Xiao Wei sit on the bed to watch the cartoon for a while.

He had previously only bought a few horror movie discs to help himself sleep, which were obviously unsuitable for a young girl to watch.

Seeing the black screen of the television suddenly emit sound and display moving pictures, Xiao Wei hugged a pillow to her chest, visibly startled by the sudden activity.

Sothing like a television was simply too advanced for a dieval girl. However, considering she had lived through bizarre experiences of her own, she quickly cald down and found herself captivated by the animated characters on the screen.

It was a cartoon that required no prior knowledge or language fluency to understand. The content was suitable for all ages and could easily be considered tiless.

He hoped it would allow her to temporarily forget her tragic past and find a sliver of happiness.

Having settled Xiao Wei, Bai Mu moved on to inspect the rewards he had obtained from the Script.

Aside from the "Doll", he had also acquired two items: the "Book of the Witch" and the "Magic Crystal Ball".

The forr was a special reward for collecting diaries. It was a team mission, and the collective team reward was a Rare grade Script treasure chest. As for the Book of the Witch, it was likely a rating reward that required a contribution level of over 50% to obtain. Achieving that standard probably also hinged on venturing into the basent to find "Witch Viola's Diary".

Given the exceptionally harsh completion requirents, it stood to reason that this had to be an incredibly valuable item.

[Na: Book of the Witch]

[Type: Special Equipnt]

[Grade: Rare]

[Effect 1: Allows the user to sacrifice items, equipnt, or skill cards to the Book of the Witch. Depending on the tier and rarity of the sacrificed items, the user will randomly acquire a temporary buff, item, or skill card. A maximum of three sacrifices can be offered at once, with the highest allowable sacrifice grade being Rare. Each use of this effect consus Stamina.] [Effect 2: Select a target to cast a random offensive magic spell. Cooldown duration depends on the tier of the magic cast. The highest possible tier for the random magic is Perfect grade.] [Requirents: Spirit 20 points or above.]

[Note: The cover of the book reads "A book that kills upon reading". Mortals who rely open the Book of the Witch will suffer splitting headaches and bleed from their seven orifices.]

Bai Mu finished reading the effects of the Book of the Witch. The first effect could be used to dispose of useless trash items, acting sowhat like a synthesizer. Based on his understanding, this thing could even synthesize objects found within a Script. For example, tossing in three rocks might yield one large boulder, while tossing in a rock, so wood, and a rope could produce a stone axe or a stone spear.

He would have to test it out to know for sure, but it undoubtedly followed a specific set of rules. He planned to find ti to experint with it later.

The second effect was a skill that entirely relied on luck. At the very least, its minimum output should equal the Fireball Spell cast by Scattered Fireflies. As for its upper limit, Bai Mu could hardly imagine how powerful it could be.

If he genuinely rolled a Perfect grade magic spell, its destructive power would likely be vastly more terrifying than the Cherry Bomb. Honestly, this might not always be practical to use, especially in confined spaces or when facing opponents at close range. If he accidentally triggered sothing like a Super Pyroblast, he might end up blowing himself to pieces alongside his enemy. This effect was best reserved for long-range engagents, targeting monsters immune to physical attacks like phantoms and ghosts, or taking a gamble when fighting a boss.

But setting aside the second effect, the synthesis ability alone was more than enough to justify the difficulty of obtaining it.

Stowing the Book of the Witch into his inventory, he moved on to inspect the Magic Crystal Ball.

[Na: Magic Crystal Ball]

[Type: Consumable Item]

[Grade: Rare]

[Effect: Upon use, performs a system scan to unlock the Mana attribute. Mana can be utilized to consu or recharge certain skills, equipnt, and items. It also grants the possessor an enhanced perception of mysterious entities.]

[Requirents: Spirit 15 points or above]

[Note: Crystal ball, crystal ball, tell who is the fairest of them all. If you say it is not , I will smash you to pieces.] An attribute that could replace Stamina as an energy resource—it was finally here. Bai Mu had always felt that his Stamina was lacking. Even with the Murkoff military boots and the Survival Guide, he often hesitated to cast skills freely.

He knew that Paradise contained similar items capable of unlocking additional energy resource bars. He had seen them in the player market before. Once, at a player's stall, he spotted a skill book called "Qi Cultivation Art", which granted players an attribute called "Inner Qi". Its function was identical to Mana, acting as a secondary energy reserve.

Besides Inner Qi and Mana, he figured there had to be other variants like "Aura", "True Essence", "Rage", or "Spiritual Energy". The Scripts were endlessly bizarre and diverse, aning the rewards obtainable within them were naturally just as varied.

He had always wanted an extra energy pool, but the price of that "Qi Cultivation Art" was exorbitantly high. It cost a staggering 2,000 Points, completely beyond his budget.

Now, he had finally managed to earn a Mana-unlocking item himself. It was no wonder that player had priced the "Qi Cultivation Art" so outrageously. The Magic Crystal Ball was a reward he obtained only after clearing the Hidden Ending of a D-grade Script. The difficulty of acquiring the "Qi Cultivation Art" couldn't have been much lower. These kinds of attributes were absolutely essential for players with multiple skills, so Bai Mu didn't hesitate for a second. He imdiately opted to use the crystal ball. [Use "Magic Crystal Ball"?]

[Yes / No]

The crystal ball in his hand flared with a brilliant blue light. It felt as though a gentle, soothing breeze had swept through Bai Mu's ears and straight into his brain, bringing with it a refreshing, mint-like coolness. By the ti he regained his bearings, a brand-new blue bar had appeared on his interface.

[Mana: 235/235 Points]

Likely owing to his exceptionally high Spirit attribute, he had gained a massive 235 points of Mana right off the bat.

This resource was clearly tethered to the Spirit attribute. When he took off his Catholic pendant, losing its three-point Spirit bonus, his maximum Mana imdiately dropped from 235 down to 205. This ant that one point of Spirit roughly equated to ten points of Mana. His base Spirit was 25 points, which bumped up to 28 points with the pendant. The specific formula for calculating Mana seed to start with a hidden base value, then layered on ten points of Mana for every single point of Spirit. Perhaps once his Spirit exceeded 30 points, the scaling would increase even further. Regardless, he now possessed a much deeper energy pool. For abilities like "Charger's Dash", the "Hand of Walrider", and even the first effect of the Book of the Witch, he could substitute Stamina with Mana. One point of Mana functioned as 1% of his Stamina. The dash would consu 30 points of Mana, while the Hand of Walrider now cost 1 point of Mana per second. Furthermore, if he sohow drained his Mana completely dry, he could seamlessly fall back on his Stamina to continue casting skills.

However, for so inexplicable reason, the "Plant Care" skill could still only be triggered using Stamina.

'Could it be that, fundantally speaking, Plant Care actually counts as pure physical labor like loosening soil and watering crops?' Bai Mu pondered. 'Or is Mana strictly reserved for skills that lean more towards the "mystical side"?'

All in all, Mana couldn't completely replace Stamina, but it imnsely eased the burden of Bai Mu's skill usage. He figured that if he ever managed to secure the "Inner Qi" attribute, he might finally be able to cast Plant Care multiple tis in succession.

He didn't know if possessing two different types of energy pools simultaneously would cause conflicts or trigger penalties. At least for now, there were no visible signs of trouble, and he didn't even et the conditions to test it anyway. Worrying about such things was still a bit too far down the road.
