The "throwing" barrage lasted for about five minutes. Aside from the bed, all the furniture in the bedroom was smashed to pieces by the "Witch," who was left with only her upper half.
During this ti, the group lost very little health. Using only the Health Potions given by Bai Mu, they were able to keep their health at a stable level. Bai Mu was completely unscathed; not a single piece of furniture had hit him.
He focused his spare attention on the clutter scattered across the floor.
The Side Quest to collect the diaries was not yet complete. He figured there was a high probability of finding the Witch's diary in the bedroom. After all, a bedroom was an extrely private place, and a diary was an extrely private item.
Judging from the diaries found earlier, the Witch's habit was to hide her diaries in spots where only she could retrieve them.
Like the cabinet that couldn't be opened through conventional ans, or that hidden cage, the bedroom was similarly a place almost impossible for an outsider to enter.
Amidst the fragnts of furniture and the small dresses scattered all over the floor, he indeed found the third diary.
It was just seven or eight ters away from him, very close to the bed.
To avoid startling the Witch on the bed by approaching, Bai Mu used the Hand of Walrider to grab the diary from afar.
[Side Quest "Witch's Diary" has been updated.]
[The diary of the Witch Ellen (3/3) has been fully collected.]
Hearing this notification, the other four cast a glance in Bai Mu's direction.
Although the attacks did little damage, the frequency was quite high. Sotis several clothes hangers, teacups, and candlesticks would be hurled at them all at once.
Great Northern Wilderness couldn't block them all by himself. Dealing with these attacks wasn't actually that easy; it was just that the damage was low, so getting hit wouldn't cause their health to drain away like flowing water.
However, at this point, they weren't going to jump in surprise like inexperienced greenhorns. They had accepted the fact that Bai Mu was "different from ordinary people."
Even among the group of Paradise Players, who were already anomalous by nature, Bai Mu belonged to the absolute top tier.
Whatever he did, the others were no longer surprised.
"Brother Bai, does this an the Side Quest is complete?"
Out of concern, Great Northern Wilderness couldn't help but ask.
"Probably," Bai Mu replied. "I'll first see what's written in this last diary. Brother Dahuang, hold on a little longer. I'll give you my bottle of Painkillers too."
Saying that, Bai Mu tossed his bottle of Painkillers over and retreated behind Great Northern Wilderness.
"Don't worry, Brother Bai. I'm more than capable of handling this level of attack," Great Northern Wilderness grinned, shielding everyone behind him.
Bai Mu opened the diary. Within its pages, he finally learned the Witch's true na—Ellen.
The diary chronicled Ellen befriending a girl nad Viola. When Ellen addressed her, she affectionately called her Xiao Wei.
It docunted the interactions between the Witch and the girl. The girl's father was a hunter, and sotis she would bring Ellen berries she had picked herself and dried at made by her father.
The girl would sit by the bed, chatting with the Witch who could no longer get up, gently caring for her, and sharing her pastries. The two beca good friends. Judging by the diary's contents, they had spent quite a bit of ti together. The girl had visited dozens of tis, and they had known each other for at least three months.
Judging solely by the diary entries, they seed to be very good friends. Every ti the girl visited, Ellen would even prepare tea and cupcakes. "Xiao Wei's father seems to have found out about us. He told Xiao Wei that legend has it there is an ancient witch in the forest who eats people who lose their way... To think that my existence has actually beco sothing out of a legend in the outside world. How long has it been since I beca a witch? Fifty years? A hundred years? Whatever, there is no point in thinking about such things."
"It hurts terribly everywhere. Where would I find the free ti to think about all that?"
"It's about ti. She will definitely agree to my request because she is so gentle and never suspects a thing."
From the words written on the very last page of the diary, Bai Mu learned why the "Witch's" body looked the way it did.
"After swapping bodies with , Xiao Wei will definitely be in for a shock, because my body is ruined everywhere and it hurts all over. Although I have long since gotten used to it, she definitely won't be able to endure it. She will cry and scream in agony."
"If that happens, I'll give her so dicine to drink—dicine that will burn out her throat so she won't be able to make a sound."
"I don't want to hear my own screams. As long as I trick her into thinking they are Painkillers, she will absolutely drink them, hehe."
"Then, I'll escape from this room, walk into the courtyard, and use my whole body to feel the breeze."
"Ah, it will definitely feel wonderful."
"Right, before she gets here, I should gouge out my eyes and chop off my legs too."
"That way, Xiao Wei will only be able to die in utter despair once she enters my body."
The Witch had gouged out her own eyes, chopped off her own legs, and poisoned her own throat to mute herself. That was why only half of a body remained on the bed.
By the ti Bai Mu finished reading the diary, the bedroom had been reduced to an absolute ss. With nothing left to throw, the "Witch" let out an even more desolate wail and curled up into a ball. Just as Bai Mu thought she no longer had the strength to continue attacking, the sackcloth bear doll suddenly bounded out of his hands and rushed to the "Witch's" side.
Then, driven by so unseen force, the small doll began to grow, expanding within seconds into a massive monster that nearly touched the ceiling.
Despite inflating into a monstrous beast, it used its rough, giant claws to carefully pinch the corner of the bedsheet, gently pulling the covers over the curled-up "Witch."
Next, it looked toward the five of them. It neither attacked nor moved; it rely stood by the bed like a steadfast guard.
"What is... the aning of this?" Great Northern Wilderness panicked slightly, mainly because he had seen part of the system description for the monster before him, and the creature's massive size was extrely oppressive.
[Na: Drop Bear Guard]
[Type: Magical Familiar]
[Level: ???]
[Description: A Magical Familiar created by the Witch using human souls and flesh. It normally takes the form of an ordinary sackcloth doll, but when the Witch feels bored, she can turn it into a familiar for her amusent. Under certain circumstances, it can automatically transform into its familiar state. Even if filled with hatred and fear, a familiar cannot disobey the Witch's commands.]
"If we had handed the bear doll over to the chef, we would have all been killed by a scripted event right now," Bai Mu remarked. "This guy should be just as invincible in this mansion as the armor monster, and unlike the armor, there's no command to make it stop."
"But I think you should be able to understand that we don't want to hurt her."
Bai Mu boldly took a step forward, looking up at the colossal monster.
The other four couldn't help but break into a cold sweat for him. The size difference between the two was far too imnse. It was practically the difference between a human and a little chick; it felt like the Drop Bear Guard could swat Bai Mu into at paste with a single slap.
Yet, the Drop Bear Guard made no move to attack. It rely guarded the front of the bed, refusing to let anyone pass.
"You don't want to hear her cry either, right?" Bai Mu asked. "And you're powerless to stop it, aren't you?"
The Drop Bear Guard stood in a silent standoff with Bai Mu for a mont before finally stepping aside, clearing the path to the bed.
