’The Horde is no more...’
This news broke through every dium and every relevant program that is designed to spread information.
It wasn’t hearsay, a rumor, a conspiracy theory, or so shady gossip. It was official, coming directly from the Human Council HQ itself.
And if that’s not enough to convince people, there was a video of both Nick and Pat personally informing everybody of this. They made the video on site, showing everybody the Crimson Womb Universe that’s nearly falling apart, held together by only the dying throes and the last bits of willpower of a world that’s practically begging to be put down.
They did not specify how they dealt with the Horde; they just revealed that they will no longer be a threat to humans or any other creature in the Five Known Chaos Realms. The Bug Empress was dead, and so were all of her children. The only trace they left behind was their ruined world.
Amidst the disbelief and cautious optimism of many people, they dissected the video since so were claiming it’s edited or fake. But after many thorough inspections and such, the video was, again and again, proven to be real and genuine.
Both Nicholas and Patricia even made a public appearance to confirm this news.
That was as much confirmation as anybody could get and as much convincing they’d ever need. And because of it, the whole Heavenly Star Chaos Realm was in an uproar and in celebration.
Well...technically, it’s not everyone since not everyone was covered by the Virtual Universe; there were so places that were too remote and too underdeveloped and couldn’t share everyone else’s jubilance. They might not even be aware of what the Horde was.
But for the great majority of the people living in the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm, especially the ones who knew them and were victims of their deeds, this news was nothing short of exhilirating.
That’s the worst enemy of humanity, gone.
The Horde and Humans have a long and bitter history. Many have died by the other’s hand and machinations. The grudge runs so deep that one couldn’t live while the other survived.
Also, that’s every foe of humanity gone, starting from the War of Sovereignty.
The Demons, Fierce Beasts, chanoids, Dragons, and finally, the Horde...all of them are gone. Only the humans are left.
All other living creatures are no longer a threat to humanity’s true sovereignity. With the extinction of the Horde, Humans were well on their way to becoming the true overlords of the Five Known Chaos Realms!
Wasn’t that worthy of celebration?
With news of this being known to, basically, every corner of the chaos realm, many people were happy and jubilant. Of course, there were always the skeptics, thinking that they were celebrating a little too early, but the majority believed the news because why would two Primal Origin Lifeforms lie to ants like them?
Obviously, there will always be so people who ask, ’What now?’ ’Or ’What happens next? "What should they do with the Crimson Womb Universe?"
These questions were vaguely answered by both Nicholas and Patricia. They told everybody that they no longer have to be afraid of threats coming from the outside. Especially not when their worst enemy went extinct and with the both of them guarding humanity’s interests.
Humanity could simply focus on moving forward. Advance, just as always, just more bravely and boldly now that they no longer have to be wary of enemies popping out of nowhere.
As for what to do with the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm, well...that’s a bit more complicated.
Nick and Pat were very up front about it. The Crimson Womb Chaos Realm was not in good shape. It’s barely hanging on for dear life as it is. The damage that the Horde did to it was too much; what little that’s left of its independent consciousness might not even be able to hang on for too long.
All in all, it’s not looking good for that world.
Nick and Pat could do sothing about it, obviously. But whether complete revival was possible or not, even they couldn’t tell. The extent of the damage and corruption that the chaos realm endured and how long it suffered from it was just so grave that even their seemingly omnipotent power might not be enough to completely restore it.
Many thought that it was a sha. So people didn’t believe it. They think that the Human Council was hiding sothing. They think that they are saying this to prevent others from benefiting; they want all the profits for themselves.
Nick and Pat had a counter for their detractors, though. To anybody who wants to see for themselves the horrible state of the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm, they could apply directly to the Human Council HQ and have the Space Marines escort them there.
They built a passage directly to that place, one that would cut the ti needed to travel between both chaos realms.
This shocked those detractors to the point that even they began doubting themselves. Nick and Pat were very forthcoming with their information, and they even prepared to show them all of it in person.
So didn’t believe them even after all of this, while others were simply curious.
After the public interview and reveal, they applied for a tour, and got there accompanied by Space Marines.
And it’s exactly as Nick and Pat said. Anybody who arrived there could sense it in a single glance. That Chaos Realm was barely clinging to life.
They also couldn’t deny the truth...
They initially thought that this was just for show. That the Human Sovereigns just created sothing that resembles the ho of the Horde and offered to show it to make everybody believe their words, and that they’re hiding where the real chaos realm was so that they could safely develop it and make it their personal factory and warehouse.
But once they’re there, all of those doubts disappear.
The presence of the Horde and the corruption they left behind remained strong. So strong, in fact, that others simply felt this place was so vile and so repulsive that they couldn’t even bear to get off the ship to get a closer look. It made them feel afraid of being tainted by the pungent corruption that kept lingering in the atmosphere.
Nick and Pat didn’t bother cleansing the world of it just yet. The stench couldn’t touch them at all, but it certainly was different for others who were obviously weaker than them.
It’s one thing for a few people to confirm that they’re telling the truth, and it’s a completely different story when everybody is saying the sa thing.
Hell, so people were even convinced that it’d be better for the Human Sovereigns to wipe that place out of existence. They were afraid that it might beco a nest for a new nasty race that would beco a threat to humans once more.
Shortly later, everything was confird. Many supporting claims and pieces of evidence were supplied to convince everybody that the Horde was indeed gone and that the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm was truly on the verge of dying.
One of the popular posts about it was soone calculating how much it would cost for the Human Council to completely restore the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm.
TL;DR—it’s a lot, and it’s simply not worth it. Not only would it cost too much without too much to gain, but it is also going to take so much ti before it could even start functioning properly again. Complete restoration or terraforming? That’d take even longer. The poster estimated millions of years, at minimum!
Therefore, the post concludes that it’s better for that place to be destroyed. They thought that humans shouldn’t even bother with it. Destroy the place, make sure there’s zero possibility of a new horde gestating from its rotten and dying core, and then move on with life.
Billions upon billions of people saw this post on the virtual universe, and an overwhelming majority shared the sa sentint. Hell, maybe even the Human Sovereigns themselves saw it and probably agreed too.
But whether they are aware of it or not, people wouldn’t know because, after making the announcent, the Human Council went radio silent again.
Maybe they’re deliberating so more? Maybe sobody was confirming if it’s truly possible or not? Maybe they have different ideas? Or maybe they figured out a better way to go on about restoring the place and then later turning it into a more habitable place for humans?
Whatever they’re discussing within the halls of the Human Council HQ, though, unrelated parties will never know. The council had always been private like that.
Of course, with this new explosive and loud thing, there’s no way that the ever-vigilant observer such as Cedric would remain ignorant about it.
Cedric knew, of course. In fact, he’s one of the very first people to know when the Horde was gone. He’s even way earlier than the other Human Sovereigns.
And while he didn’t have much to say about the extinction of those bugs, it’s different when it cos to Crimson Womb Chaos Realm.
’Letting it die just like that is a little too wasteful...’
