More ti passed by since the restoration of the Border Patrol Office's surveillance at the void.

During this ti, the technology was refined and improved upon even more. Now, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the Border Patrol Office would be alerted for any movent of the void a thousand miles away from the established entrances.

Actually, this distance was still a bit short. The void could give one an impression of being boundless, especially with its ever-changing form and strangeness; it becos worse the closer one gets to the heart of the void.

But considering that it hasn't been long since the surveillance was relaunched, covering a thousand-mile distance was already impressive enough. One must know that it took far longer for the Border Patrol Office to launch the old surveillance devices. So said that it took them decades to safely transport and install the old ones. The current ones, those that Cedric had a hand in, didn't even require any manpower to be installed. They were just thrown out there, and they installed themselves. They were programd to work like this, eliminating any risks to soldiers in the office.

The only reason why they haven't delved deeper yet or extended the current surveillance distance was because the devices were a bit complicated and expensive to create.

It's understandable. After all, these things must have the capabilities to not only capture images and sounds; they also must possess calibrating capabilities to help the office analyze information. On top of that, they must be created to fuse with their surroundings, so much so that even a Void Shift wouldn't ruin them. They must also remain undetected by the Void Creatures and the Void itself so as to establish a complete network as permanently as they can have it.

With all of these in consideration, of course it would make sense that creating the surveillance devices would be difficult. In fact, one of these things should've cost more than what it is currently. It was Cedric's ingenuity that lowered the production costs, allowing the camp to save more resources without compromising quality.

Aside from this, the defenses within the camp also saw massive improvents. The pylon network has been reworked completely. They're still around, but they have been optimized imnsely. Not only could they be launched pretty much instantly now, but they also wouldn't drain too many resources now since their energy source was changed into a vat of void energy instead.

Yes, the camps are using void energy now as a power source too. And once again, Cedric's influence was visible here. After all, this wouldn't have been possible without him.

Aside from the pylons, the weapons, traps, and other defenses of the camp could also use void energy as an alternative energy source too. Because of this, there is a dedicated dam to store void energies sowhere in the camp. These places are strictly monitored and heavily guarded so as to not cause accidents to the entire camp.

They were just collecting void energy from the main gates; they were also making use of the holes in the Scarlet Division Wall. If they limited themselves to just the entrances, they wouldn't collect a lot; moreover, it would also risk a greater chance of being discovered. So, by spreading the collection range, they mitigate those chances.

It might sound contradictory, but it must be noted that they are only gathering void energy in areas where the density was high. And each collection was done in a stealthy manner. The whole process was secured and strictly monitored too.

All in all, Cedric's hard work hasn't been for naught. While the improvents haven't been tested yet on their actual enemies, he has the confidence that everything will be just fine.

These improvents aren't just strictly for the Northwestern Camp. It was applied to all camps. Cedric isn't that biased. And even if he was, the office wouldn't be, so it will definitely be shared with others.

Despite his busy schedule, Cedric did his best to not neglect his cultivation. He's approaching the peak of the 5th stage of Void Refinent. It wouldn't be long before he makes another breakthrough, and he's already preparing for it.

While he could make use of the collected void energy in the dams for his future breakthrough, Cedric didn't think of doing so. For one, with how much he needed for his breakthrough, he might very well drain every single drop in those dams and still not have enough. This will not only force him to postpone his breakthrough, which could pose danger to his life, but also create more work for his comrades. He knows just how much effort it takes for them to collect void energy, and he didn't want to forcibly conscript them into labor for his own needs.

And so, he chose to go at it the sa way as before. But of course, he will employ so protectors when the ti cos; after all, he doesn't know if there will be a commotion or not.

**

Cedric was in his office reviewing so docunts late into the night. He just got done reading the entries of the remaining participants of the Ancient Chaos Alpha and has moved on to other important docunts this ti.

Fortunately, sleep was more or less aningless to him at this point. Unless he's completely drained of energy or barely clinging to his life, his body wouldn't easily pass out. So, it's usually during the night that Cedric deals with the paperwork of his work.

Cedric doesn't like paperwork. He supports the idea of getting rid of the papers and relying on technology instead for these. But he's only one of the few who thinks this way, so he could only acquiesce.

In these papers he's perusing, there's one proposal that caught his attention.

The proposal was to support the idea of building a manned outpost in the void. It also contains the idea of resuming the Void Walking missions soon since this and the main proposal were inherently connected.

As he read through the docunt, he also saw a lot of signatures. They're divided into three: those who supported the idea, those who oppose it, and those who abstained.

This made Cedric pause to think...how should he decide about this? His vote was required here, so he has to make a decision.

'Are we ready to resu Void Walking Missions? 'Cedric asked himself.

His mind recalled the recent improvents in the camp and thought that maybe they are.

'Well, if this was limited to Void Walking Resource Gathering Missions, then I wouldn't hesitate to agree.' He then looked at the docunt again and frowned.

'But an outpost? A manned one, as well. Isn't this a little too aggressive?

This was no different from invading and provoking the void directly.

'I must say, whoever proposed this idea was truly bold. Who is it anyway? '

Cedric flipped the docunt and saw that the proposal was created by a field marshal who goes by the monicker 'War Saint.'.

With his permissions, Cedric viewed the profile of this 'War Saint,' which revealed his true na and identity to him.

'Ah, he's from the Berserkers Tribe. It seems that aggressiveness has perated them to the soul, that even their thoughts revolve around it.'

The one who made the proposal was a decent soldier. He's been working at the office for 100 years now and has accumulated enough rit to be promoted to a field marshal.

'Oh, so that's what he wants! ' Cedric's eyes glittered as he realized sothing.

The promotion requirents from a field marshal to a brigadier general were steep. It goes beyond just accumulating rit; stellar achievents are also involved.

War Saint must've been yearning to be promoted for a while now. However, the recent disasters and his insufficient requirents barred his way. Now that the camp has been restored and improved, War Saint thought that now was the perfect chance for him to pursue his promotion. And thus, he proposed this.

'Alas, not only was this too opportunistic, it's also naive.'

Cedric opposed the proposal after so thought, concluding this particular docunt.

No, he wasn't personally targeting War Saint. It's just the idea wouldn't work for now. The Void Prince surely wouldn't respond kindly to provocation. Building an outpost in his territory will spark another mass invasion. Many soldiers will die again.

Cedric firmly believed that they should focus on developing right now while they still can. And instead of provoking another clash with the void, they should focus on strengthening their army while there's still ti.

Because even with all of the improvents around, Cedric knew that the realm was still not prepared for the full wrath of the void.

And it would seem that he wasn't the only one who thinks so too, because the final vote count for the proposal was overwhelmingly opposed.

Cedric shook his head and offered a slight apology to the War Saint. He respects the hustle, but there's too much at stake. The camp won't risk sending more of its people to die just for the sake of letting soone be promoted in their military ranking.
