Restoring the monitoring capabilities of the camp on the void was only the beginning...
With the rising capabilities of the camp, especially with the resurgence of Ancient Chaos Path amongst them, how can they not seek improvent? How could one expect the first defense line of the realm to be satisfied with the re return of how it all was?
So, in the next following months, improvents were the main focus of the Border Patrol Office. This isn't to say that they haven't been trying to improve prior to this; it's just that they have little choice to work with. Now, with the addition of a few people who stepped into the Ancient Chaos Path, more options were opened up to them, which made the speed of improvent faster.
Of course, they are still striving to have more people switch to the Ancient Chaos Path. The end goal, after all, is to canonize this path to all living beings. However, this process can't be rushed. It's even very unlikely for it to be publicized soon because there are just too many considerations to go through first.
But that's not the current focus of the office right now...
Cedric remained as occupied as before. He's still the director of the Ancient Chaos Alpha project and also in charge of innovations against the void itself.
While he could be a little hands-off while managing the project, because there were very few changes and developnts that happened there anyway, it's different for his efforts in helping the camp survive their future encounters with the void.
From runic arrays and formations to other random inventions he had in mind, Cedric's mind pretty much never stopped working. He kept coming up with discoveries that kept the whole office moving forward, so much so that even the Paragons and the Chancellors were caught up with it.
It started with the runic formation. This thing could not only neutralize the void, preventing it from harming the beings or materials it's attached to, but it could also use the neutralized void as a harmless energy source that can be used for improvent.
There had been a lot of reworks and optimizations for this runic formation; by now, it's estimated to be at least 200% better and more efficient compared to its initial design.
This runic formation later then becos an inspiration for other inventors of the camp. They used the rules within the formation to make other things, such as weapons that could disintegrate void upon contact, inspired by the runic formation's thod of deconstructing the void and eliminating its harmful properties. They also optimized the central power source and the flow of energy within the camp, raising its efficiency by a whopping 100% after receiving inspiration from the runic formation's energy cycles.
And things just snowballed from there...
More weapons and defenses were made. The walls that quarantined the camp have been reconstructed, and the systems were optimized, which relieved the staggering workload for guardians. Hell, even the gates were reconstructed using better materials and security asures. This even extended to the holes on the Scarlet Division Wall.
Cedric had a hand in all of this. Nobody could erase his traces because these developnts would never happen without him. His influence doesn't start and end with the runic formation. It's easy to entertain superficial thoughts about better things, but oftentis, it is very difficult to realize those ideas.
Whenever their ideas face a roadblock or whenever they're stuck and lacking inspiration, they would find themselves face to face with Cedric, and with only a few words and a shift of perspective from him, they would soon find themselves enlightened.
This was how he beca a well-known figure beyond being the current era's pioneer of the Ancient Chaos Path. Every little change that happened to the Border Patrol Office had sothing to do with him, and every project had a direct or indirect connection to him, granting him rights and credits for them.
By now, Cedric's rits were no less than the Paragons or the Chancellors. Making him one of the pillars that supported the Border Patrol Office. It wouldn't be wrong to say that the entire realm owes him greatly. He's no less than a cosmic treasure that needs to be protected and respected. His deeds already left a permanent mark on the realm's history, and his legends will be sung for generations to co.
But Cedric had little to no care about this. Because as far as he's concerned, he's rely following his virtues—to live with no regrets.
Since he had the ability to make the lives of people around him a little better, then why not do it? Besides, his efforts here extend to his ho. If he could stop the threat here before it reaches there, then wouldn't that be better?
Despite his busy schedule, Cedric's life in the camp was fulfilling. It was completely different from the initial impression he had before coming here. He's also quite fortunate that his cultivation wasn't impeded too much since it happens semi-passively, aning that he doesn't have to sacrifice his cultivation ti to remain useful to the camp.
And with the addition of other Ancient Chaos Path practitioners, the burdens on him were being relieved sohow because they're there to take so of it away from him.
Right now, Cedric was on his 6th year of service. His mandated service period was a total of 10 years according to his contract with Hunyo and Silas. But with how things are currently? Even if Cedric were to breach this contract, nobody would bat an eye. Not even Silas, who's now the Mystic Fae Chancellor.
Cedric pretty much stopped relying on the resources stipulated on the contract as soon as his first years of service concluded. Besides, he had so many rit points that he could buy out the contract if he wanted to. Not that he had any reason to do that, nor was he entertaining the idea. But if he really wanted to, he could do that.
These past few months, Cedric was busy working with others to restore the camp's surveillance of the void. They have succeeded already, but there's always room for improvent. That said, what they established right now was more than enough. In fact, it's even better than before.
The device they made was not only more accurate than the old equipnt, but it also provided more information feedback to them with barely any inconsistencies, making the group more effective at preparing for the worst.
Their new equipnt could even go deeper into the void, giving them more of a window of opportunity to respond to any movents out there.
It's still unlikely that the Void Walking activities will resu after this. But at so point, they're going to have to resu it. After all, they only have limited amounts of resources that ca from the void.
Still, improving the realm's security against the void was nice. At least they won't have to deal with yet another public outrage, even though they could hardly be blad for that.
Since they managed to restore their surveillance capabilities within the void, Cedric took this chance to closely pay attention to the void's movents.
The Void Prince's 'forebearance' is still rubbing him the wrong way. He just can't relax without knowing what's up. Even after improving the overall state of the Border Patrol Office, he just can't feel confident enough.
To this extent, Cedric built a drone that could seamlessly blend with the void. He modeled it after a voidline, the smallest and most inauspicious creature out there that has the most freedom to explore. He had studied enough materials to replicate its behavior to make the act very convincing.
And because voidlings are the weakest and more fragile type of void creature, the void wouldn't be so suspicious of it; voidlings aren't strong enough to connect to the hive mind of the void, and Cedric took advantage of that to enact his plans.
The voidling drone had a recording chanism that could capture images and sounds. Cedric planned on letting it hang out near the talkative creatures, hoping that he could understand what the Void Prince was up to through eavesdropping.
But since the voidling drone had to go deeper into the void, real-ti feedback was impossible. Forcing it would risk being discovered by the void, and that's just not worth it. So, Cedric could only send it away to do its thing and hope that it would co back in one piece.
Fortunately, it did. Aside from a few scratches here and there, the little thing was intact. When it returned, Cedric captured it and imdiately replayed the recordings to see what it discovered so far.
Cedric wasn't really expecting too much. After all, this was its first errand. It's far from perfect, so he planned to modify and improve it a few tis first before expecting sothing concrete from it.
However, the little thing surprised him.
OOOuuuUuooo!
(Our Prince is wise and mighty!)
UUUOOOuoooouuu!
(He is! Truly a role model that we all should aspire to be!)
OoooOoouuUuuuuU!
(With him around, our kind will definitely be successful in swallowing the Primordial Chaos and returning everything to the Eternal Silence!)
Cedric raised a brow as he listened in. He couldn't help but wonder:
'Since when did these creatures beco so eloquent? '
