Jormund had no problems whatsoever eating and digesting Void Creatures, much to the estranged faces of the crowd.
They don't understand him. To Jormund, Void Creatures tasted aweso. Of course, he too was puzzled why it's like this for him, but he wasn't so averse to it.
Cedric observed the feasting Cosmic Serpent. His golden gaze saw through his body, allowing him to witness what happened to the bodies as they entered Jormund's stomach.
It is true, after all, Cosmic Serpents do have a black hole in their stomach indeed. How that's possible was sothing Cedric wasn't really inclined to think about right now, nor was he truly interested in. It's the fact that, upon the first contact with the black hole, the bodies of the Void Creatures Jormund devoured were easily broken down into nutrients that effortlessly fused with his body.
There was no harm done to him. The harmful effects of the Void Creatures were completely erased the mont they entered his mouth. Cedric guessed that Jormund's unique constitution after evolving played a role in this.
"Yep, it's just as I thought. He actually can devour them without being hard," Cedric declared, concluding his analysis.
The faces of the crowd turned even stranger as they heard this. Never had they imagined that a day where they'd et soone who could eat the void without being hard would co, yet here they were.
Because there's practically no consequence for Jormund to devour the void creatures, there's practically nothing stopping him from feasting. And with his appetite voraciously increased after his evolution, it took him no ti at all before he ate all of them, and there were at least a hundred that were captured before Cedric closed the leak on the seal.
Jormund, having returned to his tiny form, smacked his lips after his al. He felt a bit down because he hasn't had enough yet, but he also wasn't so hungry that he'd go crazy if he didn't have more.
It was only afterwards that he rembered once more that there were people watching him, which made him feel ashad of his behavior all of a sudden.
Sensing his plight, Cedric smiled and said, "Alright, folks. Show's over. Let's return to the camp."
Without any further ado, the crowd employed their ans and turned into streaks of light that disappeared over the horizon, returning to the northwestern camp to return to their usual duties.
Cedric, of course, took Jormund with him because he wasn't done with him. Jormund's breakthrough doesn't signify the end of his service to the Border Patrol Office; if anything, it's only just beginning.
**
"Jormund's breakthrough has given us a lot of data," Cedric stated. "It showed us that there's more for us to take into consideration when one switches to the Ancient Chaos Path."
"His atavism triggering right after he stepped into the path was an unexpected developnt, which luckily resulted in a pleasant surprise. I believe I don't need to explain how valuable soone who could simply eat void creatures is to our force."
"Going back to the main topic, this made consider if anything similar could happen to others. Also, what are the chances? Is it rely a probability or a certainty? If it's a probability, how high was the ratio? If soone failed, could they, after stepping into the Ancient Chaos Path, try again?"
"One atavism is already a huge gain for many reasons that I don't think I need to explain to you all. But what about the other races? More specifically, mbers of 'The Six'?"
"Historically, 'The Six' were the first children of the Primordial Chaos; they were born special due to the care and attention given to them during their conception."
"We already witnessed that Jormund broke the age-long rules about Atavism just by stepping into the Ancient Chaos Path. And that made wonder if other things were possible too, like, for example, the Mystic Fae's World Tree Communion, or the Holy Spirit Race's Spiritual Baptism, the Ancient Titans' Growth Spurt, the Divine Celestials' Sanctification, or the Wise Dragon Clan's Dragon Communion."
The things that Cedric just listed were the unique 'rituals' or important events in the lives of mbers of 'The Six.'. Experiencing them was monuntal for them because it usually determines their standing and status in their community.
Let's take the Mystic Fae Race's World Tree Communion, for example...
The World Tree is the most important entity to the Mystic Fae, yet on the other hand, the World Tree doesn't necessarily need the Mystic Fae. The World Tree is what binds the entirety of the Mystic Fae's territory together, allowing for a smooth and easy traversal between them. It is also the core of nature, allowing anything it touches to flourish with vibrant life.
At so point, a chosen few Mystic Faes will go on a pilgrimage to the core of the World Tree, attempting to commune with it and gain its acknowledgent. Those who fail can return to their previous lives, while those who succeed will experience their bloodline sublimating, becoming Archfae who will be highly respected within the Mystic Fae community.
If a beastkin who shouldn't have experienced Atavism made it after stepping into the Ancient Chaos Path, would this kind of change be possible for the Mystic Faes too?
Cedric's words elicited wild fantasies from the listeners, especially the chancellors. All of them couldn't help but think that it would be wonderful if it were that easy. Alas, they mustn't get too imrsed in this, for the larger the expectation was, the larger the disappointnt was too.
Even Cedric didn't dare to think too much. After all, he personally didn't experience any unique sublimation in himself after he stepped into the Ancient Chaos Path.
"We will continue compiling data, obviously. For now, the remaining people in this batch are enough; I don't suggest adding more for now. Not until at least half of the first batch concludes their business here, success or failure."
"On another note, I will begin teaching Jormund about the runic formation and my other ideas. Once I deem his skills sufficient, he can be deployed to other camps for the remainder of his official service."
Yes, Jormund will soon start serving as a Border Patrol Guardian as well.
This was included amongst the many clauses in the contract he signed. He wasn't 'scamd' into this. In fact, it was even highlighted that if his participation in the project was to be considered successful and if he gained his wish, he was to provide his service to the Border Patrol Office for at least 50 years. Of course, he'll be paid and all. If he died, then the office will honor his last will and testant with all their might.
Well, Jormund succeeded. And with flying colors too, so now, it's his turn to honor the contract. Fortunately, it seems that he had no qualms doing so. Jormund was happy to serve and help wherever he was needed.
"I'll leave the discussion of his destination to all of you, as I have to focus on the project and teaching Jormund." Cedric then scanned the crowd and asked, "Well, any other concerns or questions for before we end this eting?"
Cedric could easily tell that there were, but none of them raised a hand to ask them.
He could almost tell what they wanted...
Witnessing Jormund's success made them feel strange. But within that strangeness lies envy or jealousy. By now, they're already aware of the seemingly limitless potential of the Ancient Chaos Path, and to say that they too wanted to be a part of it would be an understatent.
They too wanted to know what it's like to be fearless against the influence of the void. They too wanted to open up an Inner World within them. And they too wanted to explore the limitless potential of this path.
The only thing that was stopping them was the instability of the path. Because all things considered, Cedric still remains as the sole person spearheading this path.
While the Void Refinent Stage was indeed better than the Transitional Realm, it's still way weaker compared to Cosmic Level.
They know that they can't afford to be reckless. Especially not when the Void Prince is still out there, remaining as a grave threat looming over their heads that could land at any given mont. They can't afford to be selfish, weakening the overall might of the camp just to pursue the latest path to life evolution.
That's why they're holding themselves back.
Yet, their behavior also made Cedric certain that the mont he gathered enough data, these people would stop hesitating and would imdiately switch to the Ancient Chaos Path.
Honestly, he couldn't bla them. The allure and promise of a greater strength have never failed to seduce masses of people, especially the desperate ones.
"Alright, if that's all, then I announce this eting to be adjourned. Thank you for attending, ladies and gentlen."
Alas, they're going to have to wait. After all, this research was bound to take a long ti and a lot of resources to produce actual results.
