The effects of the Jade of Realm Protection only last for a year...
When the Dragon Chancellor used it, it was because all conditions were t and the realm was truly in danger because of the Void's wrath. Yet not even three months after the void's persistent attempts, it suddenly stopped and retreated like nothing happened at all.
Truthfully, it wasn't just Cedric who found this weird. The Chancellors did too. And just like him, this also triggered their wariness.
And now, it was proven why it is so...
OOOOuuuuOoooUuuOo!!
The unmistakable howl of Void Creatures descended upon the camp, and not just in the Northwestern Camp too. The void creatures attacked all camps of the Border Patrol Guardians, and they brought a Void Tide with them.
All of this happened as soon as the divine light of the realm protection dissipated.
This caught many people off guard. They certainly weren't expecting this level of invasion to just fall on them like this.
Panic spread throughout the camps. Everybody imdiately deployed their Void Suits and brought their weapons out to defend against the tide of monsters coming their way.
But while the majority of the guardians were caught unprepared, there were so people who were prepared. And most of these people were the field marshals and paragons. Of course, the chancellors were included too.
As soon as they caught sight of the Void's invasion, they imdiately launched security asures throughout the camps to protect their people. They also responded with the sa level of animosity.
Like mortal enemies eting in the battlefield, there were no discussions. It was on sight for both parties. And a clash of enormous proportions occurred.
BOOM!
Nurous explosions shook the border patrol camps. Cannons were fired, skills and spells were launched, and death appeared to claim those who were unfortunate.
It's the children of the Primordial Chaos against the children of the Void. Creatures that represented polar opposites clashing against each other for survival.
On the surface, despite being in their ho ground, the living beings of the Primordial Chaos seed to be on the losing side.
Unlike the Void, the Primordial Chaos air didn't have a restrictive effect against the creatures of the Void. It didn't weaken them, nor did it slow them down. It had no real effect on them.
It's unfair because the Void suppresses creatures of the Primordial Chaos in its presence. Moreover, the Void clearly benefits when devouring living beings, yet the Primordial Chaos can't do the sa.
However, whatever any direct suppressive effect that the Primordial Chaos lacked against the Void was made up with the gift of diversity and intellect.
BOOM!
The children of the Primordial Chaos might vary in shapes, sizes, and identity, but in the face of the real threat to their survival, they will unite and co up with many ways to make up with their defects.
Weapons that could deal damage to the Void Creatures had been invented and created. Living beings used materials gathered from the Void itself to use against it. The idea was novel, if only contradictory, yet it is sothing that only the children of the Primordial Chaos would co up with. Void Creatures doesn't have the capacity nor the ability to be this ingenuous.
So, while on the surface, the Border Patrol Guardians were sustaining damage. The playing field is quite even, especially since living creatures negated the 'invulnerability' of the Void Creatures.
And while this invasion was unceremoniously dropped upon them, every Border Patrol Guardian knew one thing.
And that is; they absolutely cannot allow even a single Void Creature out of these walls.
The Border Patrol Guardians were the first line of defense against them. Behind them were their people, their families, and loved ones who were defenseless against these creatures. Even a single Voidling could turn into a world-ending disaster if it were allowed to exit these walls. And that just won't do.

Therefore, all camps have gone into a lockdown. Nobody could enter and leave the camp while the threat was still around.

The Chancellors and the Paragons took flight and t the invasion head-on.
While many of them were admittedly not expecting this level of invasion, they weren't too surprised by it either.
They say the black and white air is pouring down the camp. This foul presence greatly disturbed the stability of the realm and was fatal to any living creature.
This was the Void Tide. And sadly, unlike last ti, the pylons that shielded the camp weren't launched. They didn't have the ti nor the manpower to do so. After all, the pylons can't be launched just because there was a suspicion that the camps would be invaded. There has to be a guarantee because activating the pylons requires a lot of resources.
Without the protection of the pylons, the next best thing they could do was to activate the ergency barriers on each building to resist the pouring tide. Every building was made with this protocol installed, and in tis like this, the extra cost put into this installnt was all worth it.
As they resisted the tide, which quickly dissolved the unprotected things within the camp, the living creatures behind cover were doing their best to reduce the density of the tide by attacking it and the creatures that ca with it.
The scene was hellish yet also strange, the entire camp seemingly turned into one giant tower defense ga.
Seeing all of these made so people question the intent of the Paragons and the Chancellors.
Where's that thin divine light that previously kept these monsters at bay? Didn't they use it before? Why can't they use it now? Matter of fact, why was it removed in the first place? Was this intentional?
Well, it is quite obvious that the people who had these questions had no idea just how valuable that divine light of realm protection was. And they can't be blad for it; the Jade of Realm Protection was an ancient treasure that was only known to a handful of people in the first place.
To start off, it's not like those who had it didn't want to use it. They do, and they've tried. But unlike last ti, the chanism that's preventing the jade from being misused was working against them.
The chanism wasn't allowing them to use the jade because, according to its program, the realm wasn't in absolute danger. At most, it was troubled by the invasion, but that's hardly new for the Border Patrol Guardians, so there was no need for the jade's effects to be deployed.
They've gone through multiple attempts, but again and again, the restriction wasn't lifted, and any more attempts will cause the chanism to treat them as troublemakers; it will then send the jade away to search for another owner until it ets a proper one.
Obviously, none of them wanted this to happen, so they could only stop forcing it. This ant that they were helpless too; it's not like they didn't want to use the jades; it's the jades that didn't want to be used in this 'minor inconvenience.'.
Yes, the chanism judged the situation to be a 'minor inconvenience,' much to the dismay of ancient Hade holders, because to it, this was just a slightly stronger Void Tide.
Its program can't allow them to launch the effects of the jade under the simple assumption that the void was planning sothing sinister. There has to be proof of it, like the Void itself showing animosity towards the realm like last ti; it needed concrete proof before allowing them to use the jade, and they have nothing like that.
And so, the Paragons and the Chancellors could only do their best to redy the situation while being wary of what's happening. All of them believed that the void was behaving rather unusually, and it must be monitored so that it couldn't catch them off-guard again.
But of course, they have to pay more attention to what's happening now.
The Border Patrol Guardian Camps cannot fall. They can't allow these Void Creatures to lay waste to their ho. So, the Paragons and the Chancellors divided themselves into groups.
So were tasked with culling the number of invaders while others were doing their best to control the damage being done to the camp.
Since most of the roads and smaller buildings didn't have the sa program that protected the larger and more important buildings, they were destroyed and trampled by the void creatures, later then dissolved by withering properties of the Void Tide.
There were many unlucky folks who had been at the wrong place since the start of this abrupt invasion. Only a few managed to save themselves, most of them were killed, barely able to defend themselves.
The density of the Void Tide was imnse, so much so that it flooded the entire camp.
Of course, the place where Cedric was locked up in isolation was included. And poor Roderika was dragged into this troubleso ss. Now, she's making up for her loose ntorship by protecting Cedric while he's in seclusion.
Alas, she had no idea that her efforts were practically useless because Cedric had already been affected by the Void.
