It's as if he's seeing the world again for the first ti...
The sensation was like what he felt when he fused with the godking's eyes for the first ti. Only this ti, it's on an entirely different level.
Cedric could see things that used to be blurry to him before. It's like fog that's obscuring them was suddenly lifted, allowing him to see everything in a crystal clear manner. He could see threads, lines, nodes, and weaves all around him. He could see vibrant colors that changed with every passing second. He could see the aura of everything around him like never before.
The sight was exceptionally phenonal, and Cedric couldn't help but feel deeply attracted to it.
But most importantly, though, Cedric could now see past the murky veil of the void. Sothing that he never thought possible before.
The ease of his vision penetrating the deep and confusing fog was almost mind-blowing. He even felt that if he concentrated deeply, he could see more intricate details about the void itself, which was an insane concept.
Of course, since his eyes could now see through the void effortlessly, he was able to see creatures lurking within it.
Seeing them reminded him that now is not the ti to be distracted. They're in the middle of a crisis, and if he doesn't take advantage of his new-found abilities, then accidents are prone to happen.
Knowing this, Cedric ran to the nearest ballista. These weapons were automatic, aning that there's no need for anybody to manually aim and shoot them since there's a program for that. However, the downside to that is that it shoots randomly, prioritizing the nearest threat to it.
It could be reverted to its manual function though. And that's precisely what Cedric did just now. His actions didn't really cause too much attention since so people around him were doing the sa.
Gazing indifferently at the dense void sea above the pylon network, Cedric controlled the ballista and aid it at the void creatures. The ballista doesn't have a lock-on feature, nor does it have motion-seeking ammunition, but that's not a problem to him.
Cedric anticipated the movent patterns of the void creatures. Prior to the apparent upgrade of his eyes, Cedric's calculations were already wicked. After the upgrade, though, it beca downright terrifying. So much to the point that even the strange and nonsensical movent patterns of the void creatures beca predictable in his eyes.
Pshhh!! Boom!
Slamming the firing console, Cedric shot at a distance. Without any surprises, he hit sothing, and it's not just one. A single shot from him skewered at least five void creatures swimming within the sea of void.
Due to the unique materials used to create the ammunition for the ballista, the void creatures dissipated into nothingness after dying instead of exploding into a geyser of void, which will just add on to the volu of the void sea above.
Sadly though, it is unknown if this counts as rit for him. He knew that the monitoring function of his badge wasn't as sharp as his vision; therefore, it couldn't possibly see through the dense volu of the void like him.
Cedric chose not to think too much about it then. There were far more important things that needed his attention, after all.
As he kept shooting through the void, skwering nurous void creatures with terrifying accuracy and all. He inwardly paid attention to the new things he's experiencing after the surprising upgrade of his eyes.
He found that the pressure he felt when releasing the full range of his sensory field had lessened considerably. Previously, he could only keep it up for a few hours at least, and his range wasn't all that impressive compared to the actual size of the camp.
But after the upgrade of his eyes, he didn't feel that much strain anymore. He could extend his range to his previous maximum, let it stay there indefinitely, and he won't feel any drain at all.
Of course, his sensory field has also grown after the upgrade. Previously, he could only extend his range for only a few hundred miles within the camp since the atmosphere here and nature of this place were too dense, hence limiting his range. But after the upgrade, this limitation was outright ignored.
Now, even at this place, Cedric could easily observe at least a quarter of the camp if he really wanted to, albeit at the price of ntal fatigue.
Don't underestimate this range. The Northwestern Camp was extrely vast since it's a place dedicated to exterminating any void creatures that threaten the realm. Being able to observe everything happening within a quarter of it was already incredibly impressive.
Cedric still has no idea just what exactly caused this sudden upgrade. He never even thought that his eyes could get any better than they already have, yet here they were.
He couldn't rember doing anything that could possibly trigger this, so he just tossed it at the back of his head for now since his attention was needed elsewhere.
As he continued shooting void creatures, Cedric also witnessed so of the camp's leaders bravely going out of the safety of the pylon network's defenses.
He was initially worried, but seeing their performance, he discovered that his worries were simply unwarranted.
Those people wore the most upgraded Void suit available. Moreover, they're far more experienced than him in dealing with disasters like this. Most likely because this isn't their first rodeo with it.
They flew directly to the void sea and began firing wildly. As he observed them, he discovered that there were, what looked like, tiny turrets mounted on their shoulders attached to their void suits.
These turrets didn't fire regular ammunition. Actually, if it weren't for Cedric's upgraded vision, he wouldn't have been able to see what these miniturrets do at all.
Instead of bullets or sothing alike, these turrets were spraying so form of white mist instead.
Cedric frowned upon seeing this, because he couldn't recognize what it was. That substance was nothing he's familiar with, and he hadn't been made aware of it by anybody in this camp either.
All of the leaders who bravely went to the void sea had these mini-turrets, and all of them were spraying the sa white mist. This tells him that whatever these turrets were and the mist they're spraying was might be a crucial thing that works against the void.
He kept observing them, and the longer he did so, the more he learned about the white mist.
'Incredible.' He muttered to himself.
That white mist looked extrely unremarkable, but it turns out to be the nesis of the void.
As Cedric continued his observations, he discovered that whenever the white mist made contact with any substances coming from the void itself, the result would be complete neutralization.
Of course, the volu of white mist was too little to completely get rid of the void sea right away, but so long as those mini-turrets keep on spraying them, the density of the void sea will continuously lessen.
Or at the very least, it wouldn't go any higher than it was. After all, there's still the Void Cloud raining above the camp.
Learning this rather important thing caused Cedric to have many questions. However, he knew that it was very unlikely that he'd get answers anyti soon, so he tossed them at the back of his mind.
Cedric continued aiming for the void creatures. There weren't as many as the ones he experienced before, but there's enough to keep everyone busy.
At so tis, Cedric could cover for the brave folks swimming into the void sea, shooting at the creatures that would otherwise ambush them or relieve so of their burden by shaving off a few when they're surrounded.
It was rather fortunate that the ballista wasn't running out of ammunition. He also patted himself on the back, thanking his old self for studying the technology of this camp, which allowed him to control this thing effortlessly.
The tide and swarm of void creatures last for three whole days before showing signs of dispersing. The void cloud above has been gone after the first day, and the density of the void air beyond the walls has dropped to an all-ti low after this.
Everyone spent the rest of their days clearing the void sea either by shooting at it non-stop or by neutralizing it using the sprayers mounted on the void suits of the camp's big shots.
As he assisted with this process, Cedric couldn't help but wonder just how much money they burned through just now.
Even with his sharp mory and accelerated thought process, he still couldn't help but shiver at the sheer amount of budget the whole camp had to use just to survive this disaster.
It is rather fortunate that he stayed away from the inventory or any related tasks because this would be a true nightmare, even moreso than the void creatures' invasion.
And it wasn't until a week after the start of the Void Tide that the clean-up was done. Everybody was safe, and the Pylon network was deactivated.
Cedric himself was exhausted, so he returned to his place to get a decent rest.
