Chapter 62: The Period Is Over

When Zhang Yang woke up again, he found himself leaning in the passenger seat of the R8, covered by a purple long coat. The car was slowly cruising along the ring road, the cold night breeze making him shiver a little. A faint scent of orchid lingered in the air—it was Qiao Xier’s usual perfu.

Checking the ti, it was already 10 p.m. They had started drinking around seven, and he’d passed out around nine. In other words, he had been unconscious for at least an hour—completely at their rcy.

What the hell happened during that ti?

He turned his head toward Qiao Xier, who was focused on driving. Her usual ponytail was loose, strands of hair swaying with the sea breeze. Her delicate nose and tightly pressed lips frad a flawless profile—it looked like that of a serene angel.

The coat on him was hers. He was wearing only a white V-neck cotton shirt, and from the side, her full curves were strikingly noticeable. Since the car was a convertible, she must be freezing.

Zhang Yang rubbed his aching head, took off the coat, and gently draped it over her shoulders.

“Awake?” Qiao Xier imdiately turned her head slightly when she noticed his movent.

“Yeah.” Zhang Yang looked ahead. The moonlight shimred like flowing water, and the rising tide crashed against the rocks, producing a sound like breaking glass. It stirred sothing inside him—it actually felt like falling in love.

Sensing the mont, Qiao Xier slowed the car. Neither of them wanted to break that rare silence.

“Where are they?” Even at a slower pace, they were nearing ining University. Crossing Qingyan Bridge, the university’s back gate was just ahead. Zhang Yang finally spoke.

“You an June and the others?” Qiao Xier freed one hand, pulled her coat tighter, and sniffled slightly as if catching a chill. Then she shot Zhang Yang a glare. “You tell —if I hadn’t saved you, tomorrow’s headlines might’ve read: ‘Rising Star of the Science World Zhang Yang in 4P Scandal with Three Won.’ Professor Shangguan would’ve lost his mind, and your Lulu would’ve cried herself to death.”

Zhang Yang flinched, quickly checking his pants. Fortunately, everything was intact. “That bad?”

“What do you think? They stripped you down to your underwear. Luckily, I saved the last shred of your dignity.” Qiao Xier gradually increased her speed. “Now think about how you’re going to thank .”

“Didn’t I save you a few days ago? We’re even.”

“A few days ago? You’re the one who got in trouble! If it weren’t for you, would I have been surrounded by reporters at my house? Just hearing that makes mad again.”

“Alright… how should I thank you then? Offer myself to you?”

Qiao Xier glanced sideways and floored the gas. “Go ruin your Lulu instead.”

Lulu? Zhang Yang suddenly rembered—the girl was still waiting for him at ho. She’d called him several tis tonight. He reached into his pocket for his phone but couldn’t find it.

“Don’t bother, it’s in the console.” Qiao Xier said casually.

Zhang Yang looked at her, but Qiao Xier didn’t turn her head. The car was already nearing Qingyuan Hotel.

He found his phone in the center console. There were two missed calls and one text—all from Xu Danlu. She was probably panicking by now.

The text was on top, short and simple.

“Why aren’t you answering? I’m worried. Co ho soon. Good news—my period’s over!”

Instantly, Zhang Yang’s face flushed red. Damn, good thing it was dark.

“You’re not broke, are you? Get a new phone—your ssages pop up on the screen. I’ve got extra iPhones; want one?”

Zhang Yang wordlessly pocketed the phone. She must’ve seen the text when he was passed out—Xu Danlu probably sent the ssage before calling, and Qiao Xier hesitated to answer but accidentally saw it.

Yeah, it was ti to change phones—preferably one that didn’t display ssage previews.

Qiao inv slowly parked at the hotel entrance, hesitated, then said, “Go to the lab yourself tomorrow. I won’t pick you up. I’ve got personal matters to handle.”

Zhang Yang froze, feeling oddly empty. When you get used to soone doing things for you, it feels strange when they suddenly stop.

Lately, Qiao Xier had been acting unusual—frequently sneaking out after mysterious phone calls and returning with a sour expression. Could she be in trouble?

As he got out of the car, Zhang Yang hesitated, then asked, “Are you sure nothing’s bothering you?”

Qiao Xier glanced at him and turned her head away. “What could be bothering ? Does it show on my face?”

“Nonsense. You’ve taken eight mysterious calls in the last few days, each ti disappearing for over an hour, and you always co back looking terrible. Don’t tell you’ve got so gynecological issue?”

“Gynecological issue?” Qiao Xier’s throat visibly bobbed—she looked ready to explode, but in the end, she restrained herself. “You have three seconds to disappear from my sight, or you won’t believe what I’ll do to you.”

Zhang Yang bolted.

“Senior Sister, if sothing’s wrong, you have to tell . Even if it’s a gynecologist visit, I’ll go through fire and water for you!”

“Go through your ass!”

Qiao Xier slamd the gas pedal, and the R8 shot off like a bullet, tires screeching against the pavent. Zhang Yang sighed helplessly and headed toward the lobby.

Big-breasted Gao Qi was at the front desk. The mont she saw him, she crooked a finger, motioning him over.

“Damn, didn’t I take the night off? The institute had a dinner.”

“Who said anything about that?” Gao Qi frowned, pulling him behind the counter. She sniffed him. “Hey, you’ve been drinking—and wearing perfu. Be honest, were you fooling around with that beauty Qiao? How could you do that to Lulu?”

“I’m innocent.” Zhang Yang looked at her defensively.

“Please, even a fool could tell. Only your Lulu’s too dumb to see it.”

Zhang Yang rolled his eyes. “Lulu hasn’t said anything, but you’re acting more anxious than her. That’s what they call the eunuch worrying more than the emperor. I’m out.”

“Hey, don’t go.” Gao Qi grabbed his arm, her soft chest pressing firmly against him. The alcohol in Zhang Yang’s system hadn’t fully faded, and his mind started to wander. Lulu, whose period had just ended, was waiting for him upstairs—his 21-year-old virgin life was about to end. He’d be an idiot to stay here.

“What’s up? Don’t tell Sister Qi’s getting horny at midnight and needs to help out?” Since moving into the hotel, Zhang Yang had gotten used to Gao Qi’s flirtatious ways. Compared to Lulu, she was bolder in words, though not in action. Lulu was more of a doer; Gao Qi was all talk. The most benefit he got was the occasional brush against her massive breasts.

So, banter was fine—but actually getting her naked? That’d require caution.

“Get lost. I’m here for sothing serious.” Gao Qi punched him lightly, then hesitated. “You know it’s Golden Week, right? Too many tourists. Look, the ‘Full’ sign’s hanging at the door.”

Zhang Yang suddenly felt a bad premonition.

“So what? It’s Golden Week, fine—but I paid for my room. You’re not kicking out, are you?”

“Rember my spare single room? I accidentally gave it away. So, could you maybe let crash in your room tonight? It’s big anyway, no point wasting it!”

“No way!”

Zhang Yang nearly fainted. Of all nights, she chose this one? Didn’t she know Lulu’s period just ended today?

He’d waited a whole damn month for this night. Like hell he’d agree just because she had big tits.

Gao Qi clasped her hands pitifully. “Please, could you really bear to see such a beautiful, busty senior like out on the streets?”

“Hell no. You’re not stepping one foot into my room.” Zhang Yang roared, “Besides, you’ve got a front desk right here. Stay here. Where’s He Shan? Crash with her.”

He Shan was one of Qingyuan Hotel’s official receptionists. She was on the night shift with Niu Jie from logistics and old guard Wang. Not seeing her now, she was probably in the restroom.

“There’s too many guests tonight. The counter’s packed. No room to sleep!”

Zhang Yang was speechless. Trembling with frustration, he pulled out his wallet and threw down a few hundred yuan. “So that’s what this is about—you just want to bunk with us? Here, take this. Go find another hotel.”

Gao Qi pouted at the five hundred yuan on the counter, grabbed it, and headed for the door. As she walked away, she called back, “Fine, leave a beautiful woman like wandering the streets at midnight. Every hotel around’s full. If sothing happens—if I get raped—could you live with that? Hmph!”

“Get back here!” Zhang Yang was speechless. The woman had clearly lost it.

“Knew it, you couldn’t bear to let go. By the way, Lulu already agreed.” Gao Qi walked back smugly and handed him the money.

“You can stay, but don’t regret it later.” Zhang Yang took the money, irritated. “I can’t guarantee what might happen. I took two of those pills, I’m full of energy tonight.”

“Yeah right, I’ll spread my legs and wait for you.”
