Chapter 17: Struck by Lightning for Showing Off
Xu Danlu was in a dilemma. Bai Liangfeng’s first condition didn’t bother her too much; if using her own body could bring her father a glimr of hope, she would not hesitate to give herself. But accusing Zhang Yang of attempting to rape her—that was too much. She knew clearly that if Zhang Yang hadn’t happened to barge in and save her that night, she would have lost her virginity to Bai Liangfeng.
Zhang Yang risked Bai Liangfeng’s revenge to save her, and she still had to accuse him? No matter how she thought about it, it didn’t make sense.
“I can agree to the first condition.” Xu Danlu bit her lip, her pretty face flushed like a peach blossom. “But the second one, I can’t do it.”
“Did I hear that right? Such a small thing and you can’t do it? Could it be that your old man’s life isn’t worth that little—uh…” Bai Liangfeng hadn’t even finished his words when he realized soone was standing behind him.
Zhang Yang was staring coldly at the bandaged wound on him and said indifferently, “Bai Liangfeng, if you have a problem, co at . Bullying a girl, what kind of skill is that?”
Bai Liangfeng’s body flinched; clearly, Zhang Yang had scared him before. Now, he had a ntal shadow. But seeing Bai Gang nearby, he imdiately regained his spirit and shouted, “Zhang Yang, don’t think that just because you’re a thug, you can act so arrogantly. This is a hospital.”
Zhang Yang just sneered. He knew Bai Liangfeng said that in front of so many people just to embarrass him and make Xu Danlu’s parents think he was indeed a thug.
But he was too lazy to argue. Even if he did, it would be useless—Bai Gang would just add fuel to the fire, and he’d only look guiltier.
But Xu Danlu spoke up. She stood in front of Zhang Yang, glaring at Bai Liangfeng, and said, “Don’t slander people with lies.”
Bai Liangfeng looked at her, a little surprised. He was about to speak but was pulled aside by Bai Gang, who, just as Zhang Yang had guessed, stepped forward to face Xu Danlu with a pained expression and said, “Danlu, you’re still young. Don’t let soone like him deceive you. As your departnt counselor, I’m really heartbroken. But don’t worry—the school will never turn a blind eye to this.”
As soon as he said that, Xia Weiwei and Xu Danlu’s roommates stepped forward, glancing at Zhang Yang with disdainful looks, and whispered, “Senior, don’t bother with soone like that.”
Their voices weren’t too loud nor too soft, just enough for Zhang Yang to hear. The scene looked quite awkward. The Bai brothers, along with Xia Weiwei and Xu Danlu’s roommates, were clearly hostile toward Zhang Yang. It seed his reputation had long been destroyed by those bastards Bai Gang and Whitehead—he was now seen as a complete delinquent. No matter what he said, it would be pointless.
Adding to that, Yang Fei stayed silent, Father Xu looked conflicted, and Mother Xu seed lost in thought. Zhang Yang suddenly felt he was just too redundant. Before, he would’ve turned around and left without a word—it had nothing to do with him anyway.
But seeing Xu Danlu’s helpless expression reminded him of his grandfather earlier this year. His heart softened, and he stayed in the ward.
“What’s going on?” At the door, Yang Jing appeared. Seeing the tense atmosphere inside, she frowned and walked in, asking Zhang Yang.
Zhang Yang felt a bit embarrassed. He had only just figured things out—Bai Liangfeng must’ve said a lot of bad things about him in front of Xu Danlu’s father, trying to make him leave her. But Zhang Yang had never even thought of such a thing. Liking a beauty like Xu Danlu was normal, but they’d been enemies just days ago. This was just an arrow from nowhere—damn, what a wrongful ss.
“Nothing.” Zhang Yang shook his head. He didn’t want to make things worse.
“Hm?” Yang Jing lowered her long eyelashes, looked at Zhang Yang, then let out an “Oh,” and raised the slip of paper in her hand. “I’ve contacted Xiangyun Group. Here’s the phone number of their technician. You can go directly to find him.”
Hearing this, Xu Danlu’s beautiful eyes lit up. She asked, “Dr. Yang, so we can go straight there?”
Yang Jing nodded, a little puzzled. “Yes, why? Is there a problem? The technician is my senior from university. He’ll help your father skip the line. Go tomorrow morning, and you’ll get the report by afternoon.”
“Thank you, Dr. Yang.” Xu Danlu glanced aningfully at Bai Liangfeng and smiled.
Bai Liangfeng wanted to die of embarrassnt. He had just bragged that Xiangyun’s PET machine was fully booked, and now Yang Jing had completely slapped him in the face. It was humiliating.
“Bro…” He nudged Bai Gang’s waist, trying to ask what was going on, only to find the latter frozen in place, eyes glued to Yang Jing, completely petrified.
“A beauty…” Bai Liangfeng finally noticed too. The woman before him was an absolute stunner—a gorgeous beauty in a white lab coat. No wonder his cousin looked like that. Damn, wasn’t he supposed to be chasing Yang Fei?
One Yang Fei, one Yang Jing, one Xu Danlu, and one Xia Weiwei—four stunning won all cramd into this six-person hospital room. The air practically slled of perfu.
But Xu Danlu’s earlier look of disdain had made him feel utterly humiliated, so much so that he couldn’t even enjoy the view. Luckily, he hadn’t said anything out loud earlier—or else… damn, Xu Danlu was already giving him that disdainful look again.
“Ahem, Uncle, I’ve got sothing to do. I’ll co see you another day.” Bai Liangfeng, feeling increasingly uncomfortable, grabbed Bai Gang and Xia Weiwei, gave a quick farewell, and left in a hurry.
Bai Gang clearly didn’t want to go, but one glance at Bai Liangfeng’s fierce look forced him to reluctantly steal a few more glances at Yang Jing before leaving.
As soon as they turned the corner, Bai Liangfeng asked, “What’s going on?”
“What do you an, what’s going on?” Bai Gang was still replaying the image of that gorgeous doctor in his mind.
“Bro, that wasn’t cool of you. Didn’t you already talk to Xiangyun Group’s health center beforehand? How co that beauty doctor suddenly said the report could co out today?” Bai Liangfeng’s eyes were full of anger.
“Hmm.” Bai Gang finally reacted, cursed, took out his phone, made a call, and yelled into it, “Old Tian, damn it, didn’t you say your center’s 64-slice PET machine was fully booked? How the hell can soone skip the line?”
“What… the group’s vice president personally called? Who’s got that kind of pull? … You don’t know? Damn.”
Bai Gang hung up, cursing, and turned to Bai Liangfeng with a grim face. “The Xiangyun Group’s vice president personally called to reserve that slot. Damn, that’s so serious influence.”
“It can’t be Zhang Yang. The call ca from that beauty doctor. It must be related to her. Ask Director Xie to check her background.” Bai Liangfeng tilted his head, quickly catching the key point.
After Bai Gang made another call, his expression went flat. He cursed again, “Fuck!”
“That beauty is Goddess Yang’s sister, nad Yang Jing. No wonder she’s so beautiful.” Bai Gang let out a deep breath, eyes filled with unwillingness. They knew about Yang Fei’s background—their father, Yang Xiuguo, was the director of ining City’s Health Bureau, and their grandfather was even more impressive—a real veteran of the Red Army, a retired cadre of ministerial rank. With Miss Yang saying a word, people would naturally obey. Compared to that, their Bai Pharmaceuticals was nothing.
Hearing that, Bai Liangfeng deflated too, kicking the wall hard. “So we just let it go?”
Just thinking of Xu Danlu’s curvy, alluring body made the fire in his heart impossible to contain. Besides, he had a bet with others to share scandalous photos of him and Xu Danlu before the end of the month.
“Fuck, this is all Zhang Yang’s fault.” Bai Liangfeng’s face twisted with rage. “I have to find soone to beat the crap out of him to vent my anger.”
Bai Gang frowned. “We’re about to graduate. Don’t cause trouble at this point. That kid’s getting expelled tomorrow anyway. Studied four years just to be expelled before graduation—just thinking about it feels good.”
“Bro, you an Zhang Yang’s really getting expelled?” Bai Liangfeng’s eyes lit up.
“Yeah, pretty much. The departnt will finalize it tomorrow. I was thinking, if you could get Xu Danlu to testify that Zhang Yang tried to rape her, then it’d be set in stone. Hell, he might even end up in prison.”
