Ian stood behind the counter, his pristine blue hair gleaming under the soft light that filled the shop. The strands fell loosely, almost brushing his shoulders, a stark contrast to the rigid styles of those who took life too seriously. His deanor was easygoing, radiating a warmth that instantly put others at ease, an attitude that set him apart from the more intense personalities like Graham. Ian’s smile was ever-present, a genuine curve of the lips that seed to make the world around him a little brighter.
His fra was lean, almost gaunt, the loose robe he wore draping over his slight build as if it belonged to soone larger. It was as though the fabric itself was too big for the carefree youth, emphasizing his slenderness. Yet, despite his slightness, there was an undeniable presence about him—a quiet confidence that belied his unassuming appearance. It was this very nature that had earned him a place among the Six Pillars of Empyrean, an elite group whose mbers were known for their imnse power and influence.
Ian had been more than just a student or a companion in Lyon’s journey; he had been a trusted ally, one who had fought beside them through thick and thin. His inclusion among the Six Pillars spoke volus of his capabilities, despite the easygoing façade he presented. But now, seeing him in this humble shop, surrounded by ordinary items and the scent of coffee beans, was jarring.
There was a lightness to his posture, as if the burdens of the past had rolled off his shoulders, leaving behind only the boyish grin that had once been so common in their shared history. His carefree attitude, which had once been both a source of comfort and frustration for those around him, now seed almost surreal in the context of this small, quiet shop.
As Ian t Assid’s gaze, his blue eyes twinkling with recognition, the room seed to grow smaller, filled with the weight of unspoken mories. The surprise in his expression mirrored Assid’s, yet there was no tension in his reaction—only the sa relaxed deanor that had always defined him. It was as if ti had not touched him, and he remained the sa carefree youth who had once traversed the vast realms alongside Lyon and the others, even as the world around them changed.
"Holy shit, Assid, is that you?!" Ian exclaid, his voice brimming with disbelief. Without a second thought, he vaulted over the counter with an agility that belied his lean fra. His loose robe fluttered as he landed gracefully in front of Assid, his eyes wide with amazent.
Ian took a mont to take in Assid’s appearance, as if he were struggling to reconcile the man before him with the mories of the past. He stepped closer, his grin widening as he looked Assid up and down, confirming that it was indeed the sa stern and loyal man he once knew.
"Look at you!" Ian laughed, his carefree attitude shining through. "I never thought I’d see the day! What brings you here? And don’t tell you’re here just for the coffee!" His voice was filled with the kind of excitent reserved for reuniting with an old friend after years of separation.
"You an kahveh?" Assid adjusted his glasses, his tone as precise as ever.
"h, kahveh, coffee, sa thing," Ian shrugged, waving off the distinction with a grin that stretched from ear to ear.
Before the conversation could continue, the door creaked open, and a custor stepped inside. "Excuse , I would like to b—" The custor barely got the words out before Ian sprang into action. With a swift, almost playful push, he ushered the bewildered man back outside.
"Sorry! Ergency ca up, and we have to close the store!" Ian called out, flashing an apologetic grin. The custor, now outside, stood there for a mont, flabbergasted, before huffing in annoyance and walking away.
Assid raised an eyebrow, watching the exchange with mild curiosity. "Are you sure that’s a good idea?"
Ian waved a dismissive hand, leaning back against the counter with a carefree smile. "Nah, don’t worry about it, they know around here. A little inconvenience isn’t going to hurt anyone. Besides, this is way more important." He extended his hands towards Assid, his excitent palpable. "It’s been forever, Assid! We’ve got a lot to catch up on!"
Assid walked toward the counter, wiping his finger along its surface. He inspected his pristine white gloves, still spotless, and glanced at Ian with a faint smirk.
"Hah, you think you’d catch slipping, too bad!" Ian laughed, leaning casually against the counter.
"Pretty good," Assid nodded, "but don’t let it get to your head." He leaned back against the counter as well, his gaze calm and composed. "Aren’t you going to serve tea or sothing?"
"C’mon, you know you’re better at making that stuff than . Better yet, you should cook sothing," Ian quipped.
"Don’t be ridiculous," Assid replied, his tone dismissive.
Ian giggled, the sound echoing through the empty shop. But as the laughter faded, a contemplative silence settled in. He crossed his arms, staring at the floor, lost in thought. "Man, things have changed, haven’t they? From the glory days, to gloom, and then... peace."
"You call this peace?" Assid asked, his voice edged with skepticism.
Ian forced a smile, his eyes reflecting a mix of resignation and acceptance. "The best kind of peace you can get today."
Assid studied him, noticing the subtle weight behind his words. "You can’t tell you don’t miss the adventuring days. Don’t you want to relive it?"
Ian’s expression softened, his carefree deanor montarily giving way to sothing deeper. "What are you talking about? Of course I want to, but without the boss... it’s just... I don’t know, it’s not the sa." He looked up at the ceiling, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "Many, many years have passed since then, huh? The entire world forgot about the boss, and sotis, even I forget."
Assid remained silent, sensing the depth of Ian’s reflection.
"After we all went our separate ways when Empyrean disbanded, I had no idea where to go. I had nothing going for , to be honest," Ian admitted, his eyes now focused on the palm of his hand. With a flick of his fingers, a dagger with a dark sheen materialized in his grasp. "The hidden weapon he gave to ... what a nto."
Assid opened his mouth to respond, but the door suddenly creaked open.
"Ah, sorry, we’re clos—" Ian’s eyes widened as he saw the figure standing in the doorway.
"Huh?" Graham furrowed his brows, his presence filling the small shop with a commanding aura.
"Are you shitting ? Is this a reunion? Graham, your hair is white!" Ian exclaid, his shock quickly turning into delight.
"So this is where you are," Graham replied, crossing his arms. "Still so laid back, I see."
Ian chuckled, unable to hide his excitent. "Man, this really is sothing. I can’t believe we’re all here." He glanced between Assid and Graham, his grin widening. "Just like old tis, huh?"
Graham stepped further into the store, taking in the surroundings before his gaze settled on Ian. "You look... free."
"And you look old," Ian shot back with a chuckle. "Damn, the boss’s passing really got to you, huh?"
Before Graham could respond, another familiar voice echoed from outside, "Hey, Graham, do you know where he might be going?"
Ian’s brows shot up in surprise as he turned to see Kesya popping her head into the shop. His bewildered eyes darted to Assid, who simply adjusted his glasses with a subtle nod, as if to confirm the impossible.
"Ack?! Ian!" Kesya shouted, her voice carrying down the street as her eyes filled with astonishnt. In an instant, she burst into the store, her expression a mix of shock and joy as tears welled up in her eyes. "Ian!!"
"Wait, hold on— I just cleaned the store!" Ian barely had ti to protest before Kesya’s exuberant force crashed into him. The impact sent them both rolling across the floor, hitting the wall with a thud. Items on the shelves clattered to the ground, and the sound of glass cracking filled the air as the entire shop was thrown into disarray.
Ian groaned, pinned beneath Kesya, who was too busy wiping away tears and laughing to notice the chaos she’d caused. "Kesya, seriously?! The shop’s a ss now!"
Graham, watching the scene unfold with a mix of amusent and exasperation, shook his head. "You always did have a way of making an entrance, Kesya."
Kesya, still grinning from ear to ear, finally eased off Ian and helped him up, though her grip was more of a bear hug than a helping hand. "I missed you so much, Ian! I thought I’d never see you again!"
Ian, despite the ss, couldn’t help but laugh, his carefree deanor shining through. "Yeah, yeah, I missed you too, Kesya. Just, you know, maybe next ti let know you’re coming before you destroy my shop."
Assid, standing calmly amidst the chaos, adjusted his glasses again, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Looks like the gang’s all here, almost all."
Graham’s stern expression softened as he looked around at the three of them. "It’s good to see everyone together again, even if it’s under... unconventional circumstances."
Ian, still dusting himself off, glanced around the now-trashed shop and let out a sigh, but it was filled with contentnt rather than frustration. "Yeah, it’s good to see everyone. Just like old tis... chaos and all."
Ian smirked, placing a hand on his waist as he took in the sight of the four of them. "You know what? If Liu actually shows up by my door, I’ll treat you all to the finest public house in the city."
"Well, it looks like you already lost that bet," ca a voice from the doorway, smooth and almost ghostly.
Ian’s eyes widened as he turned around. There, leaning casually against the doorfra, was the last piece of their puzzle. The Phantom himself, Liu. A grin spread across his face as he took in the scene before him. "Damn, the Six Pillars Reunion!"
The room fell into a stunned silence for a heartbeat before erupting into laughter and disbelief.
"Liu! You sly ghost, where the hell have you been?!" Ian exclaid, rushing forward to give Liu a hearty slap on the back.
Liu’s smile widened as he accepted the embrace. "Around, you know . Always in the shadows."
Kesya, still buzzing with energy, practically jumped on Liu, wrapping her arms around him in a bear hug. "You sneaky bastard! How did you find us?"
Liu chuckled, his voice low and smooth as always. "Wherever there’s chaos, I usually find you lot at the center of it."
Graham, always the stoic one, allowed a rare smile to break through as he clapped Liu on the shoulder. "It’s good to see you, Liu."
Assid adjusted his glasses, a satisfied look on his face as he watched the reunion unfold. "It seems the pillars of Empyrean stand together once more."
Ian, still in disbelief but grinning like a kid, looked at each of them. "I can’t believe it. We’re really all here... Just like the old days."
Liu looked around the room, his eyes lingering on each of them before he nodded. "Just like the old days... only better."
Ian laughed, a sound full of joy and nostalgia. "Alright, alright. I made a promise, and I’ll keep it. You guys are getting treated to the best public house in the city. But first," he glanced at the wreckage around the shop, "maybe we should clean up this ss. Then we can really catch up.
