She pushed a button on the stopwatch as the door in front of them swung open, "it’s 2123 and they’re a lot worse things that vampires."
Selene stepped forward as she guided Levi with her hand.
She walked first with Levi directly behind her, they walked through the door into a vast hall brimming with life.
As n in suit sprinted past, nurous n in pristine white coats focused on the things in front of their different stations.
The most significant thing being the giant holographic image of the earth floating at the centre.
They kept on silently walking as the murmurs and silent stares beca more obvious to Levi, he whispered to Selene, "why are they all staring at ?"
Selene gave a slight smirk, "Two reasons, firstly, you broke the record and secondly, you are technically a new variant of vampires."
He asked, "What record?"
She sighed, "The test that just happened where you broke your leg for freedom."
His voice loud as they both stopped, "That was a test?!"
She turned back to face him, "we’re not normal, so we need to know you’d do anything— and I an absolutely anything to survive...
Normally, people would think about it too much and pass out again and again till they died, others would go crazy on the line and just scream, I’d even seen soone who killed themselves just to stop it.

Levi ran his hands through his hair, "what type of test is that?"
She turned her back on him, mid conversation as she continued to walk, "Everything, as long as you’re in LUX you’re gonna be put in impossible situations, situations where critical thinking, sacrifices, tactical reasoning and sotis just being fucking gutsy is needed."
He caught up with her as they finally stopped in front of a man with a lab coat, tangled black hair, round glass, freckles and brown eyes with a scruny body.
She tapped her fingers against his table as he was fully focused on what he was doing.
He shot up his head as he noticed them in front of him, straightened his glasses and tugging on his lab coat.
She clicked her tongue before lazily pointing to Levi, "This is Levi Kane..." She guided the hand back to the man, "And this is Zack Wilson."
Levi stared at him from top to bottom.
’This guy doesn’t look a day over 16.’
Zack’s eyes just shot open as he tried to introduce himself but only nonsensical ramblings were heard.
Selene snapped her fingers, "English Zack, what did you get from the sample of his blood."
Levi’s back straightened, "wait what... You took my blood?"
"We had to make sure we knew what we were dealing with."

Zack cleared his throat as he tapped on the laptop in front of him, "His blood is fascinating..." He popped up a picture of what looked like a cell, "You see when normal humans drink vampire blood or are injected with the Darwin Serum it acts like a virus..."
He continued making wild hand gestures as he tried to explain in a practical sense, " It takes control of every biological process in the system... It takes complete control BUT not in your case...
See for you, instead of taking over like a virus the blood acted more like a symbiote, blending with your already normal system...
It’s why you don’t have their constant urge for blood, or most of their weaknesses but you have their strength, speed and much more."
Selene let out a sigh that could blow them away as she sat on his chair, "And what’s the summary of all this?"
Zack couldn’t hide his excitent, with every word a sight giggle escaped with it, "It ans he has a brain that acts like another consciousness, it’s already embedded him with all vampire knowledge but it can do so much more."
This was all news to Levi, although he already knew he had vampire knowledge, he didn’t however know about the strength speed and everything else.
He ran his hands through his head, "what do you people want from ?"
Selene shot up from the chair, "We both want the sa thing, we want vampires gone... And before you say you don’t need us try to rember that you tried to take on a low hive on your own and you would’ve died without us-"
Before she could finish Levi interrupted her, "you guys have it all, technology, weapons... Even fucking ti travel... Why do you even need ?"
Zack raised a finger before he spoke, "if I may, ti travel is fixed to a particular room because of template points so going back in ti isn’t possible."
Selene stepped closer to Levi, invading his personal space, "You can go and try to do this by yourself BUT you’d not only be ineffective but also you’d die if you get face to face with anything higher than a D-Class..."
He said nothing, no matter how much he hated it he couldn’t disagree.
She continued, "let ask you a question, if there was ever a choice between saving a life or killing a vampire, what would you pick?"
Without hesitation, without stutter, without a second thought, "I’d kill that thing."
Her gaze tightened, "exactly why you’re perfect for the job, you don’t care about humans... You have one purpose and one alone and that’s to kill vampires and the only mission of this unit."
"So how exactly can you help ?"
She stepped back from him, "follow ."
They proceeded to an elevator at the end of the hall.
The three of them proceeded down as Zack’s look didn’t fare far from Levi, like a man spellbound, the chanical him of the ride did try to help them.
The doors finally opened to the weapon’s room, army’s worth of artillery and firearms.
From thousands of rifles lined the wall, armoured trucks and anything needed to eradicate vampires.
She continued walking, Levi startled as he stared around the room, he couldn’t help but think this would make things a lot easier.
He increased his pacing trying to catch up with Selene and Zack.
She tossed sothing at him, "heads up."
He caught it as he stared at the square tal box like grenade, he stared at it for a second before finally eting her eyes.
She said, "saw your car wired with UV rays, smart but rookie mistake, that’s a UV flare, smaller, more discreet and more powerful...
And that’s just the beginning."
