Soul-possession is literally the possession of a soul in any inanimate and non-biological objects. If the soul takes control of a biological vessel dead or alive, the soul would start to accumulate imnse karma which would end up invoking the descend of a Thunderbird, the being in myths. Those beasts are specialised in spotting and eliminating souls with extraordinary amounts of Karma.
But even if a soul successfully possesses a weapon or object, it does not necessarily an that a will is imdiately ford. The soul would have to travel through every atom and molecule to familiarise with it completely.
In history, there are depictions of certain objects and materials with excellent affinity with souls. The information was soon used for necromancy and soul-stealing which forced Thunderbirds to flatline millions of people within seconds.
