Chapter 91 – The Tutorial Begins With a Goblin

Jhin reached out and picked up the longsword lying alone on the floor.

Where did this co from?

He stared at it, confused—until a ssage floated up over the weapon like a bubble of light.

So blunt it doesn’t look like it could cut anything.

Attack: 12

Grade: F

’Exodia...?’

That was the first thought that popped into his head.

But he imdiately shook it off.

It didn’t make sense—not with what he knew of the world.

An item from a ga, appearing in reality?

That wasn’t just absurd—it was impossible.

If anything, it seed more believable that so ga-addled loser was having a vivid hallucination.

Wuuuung...

Just then, as if urging him to hurry up, a low vibration rumbled beside him.

He followed the sound to the elevator—and instinctively held his breath.

Floating in the dark, two red lights flickered faintly.

They weren’t fireflies.

Kiiiiit...!

Eyes. Glowing red like blood.

A stench so foul it made his stomach lurch—like sothing had rotted and died in the walls.

The creature stood barely waist-high—around 130 centiters—panting heavily as it gripped a hamr with its stubby hands.

And then, without warning, knowledge appeared in his mind.

—Hamr Goblin. Level 20.

You’ve got to be kidding .

A monster from a ga?

Even seeing it with his own eyes, he couldn’t believe it.

But.

KIIIIIIK!!

He realized it instantly.

This wasn’t so blocky pile of polygons.

The hairs on the back of his neck stood straight up.

...It’s real?

The goblin glared with murderous eyes and swung its hamr—hard.

The hamr ca crashing down and smashed the marble floor with a thunderous roar.

BOOM!

Jhin flung himself sideways just in ti.

"UAAAAAAGH!!"

The spot where he’d been standing exploded into rubble as the goblin’s hamr obliterated the tiles.

Its bloodshot eyes locked onto him, furious it had missed its prey.

He darted toward the stairs—thinking to flee.

[Tutorial in progress. Movent restricted.]

"What the hell!?"

A dead end.

Jhin swallowed hard and turned around.

The goblin was still there—staring at him.

The look in its eyes was pure predator—exactly what you’d see in the wild, when a beast locked eyes with prey.

A look that said I have all the power.

His mind went blank, like a whiteout.

KIIIIEEEK!!

The goblin jumped high, roaring as it brought its hamr down again.

There was no ti to think.

He flung his body aside on reflex.

BOOOOM!!

The wall behind him cracked and caved.

That thing had terrifying power.

What the hell is this—seriously, what is this?!

The Hamr Goblin turned, its glowing red eyes flaring.

And Jhin —his body started to tremble.

Like a tree in the wind.

Fear gripped him, crushing his chest, seizing his limbs.

He could barely breathe.

This was the first ti he’d ever faced true killing intent.

...I’m going to die.

There was no room for any other thought.

—Ding!

Then, all of a sudden:

[Account synchronization complete.]

[’Service Shutdown Reward’ has been issued.]

[!]

[The awarded reward significantly exceeds player’s current level. Balance adjustnt required.]

[So functions have been restricted.]

And just like that—

The fear that had been swallowing him whole was wiped clean, like ink sared off a whiteboard.

His fraying mind ca back into focus.

And the goblin, now, looked different.

It’s... small.

Just a nasty little kid swinging around a hamr.

Ugly, sure—but not worth trembling over.

It was just a Hamr Goblin.

A bottom-feeder mob from an F-rank dungeon.

In Exodia, he wouldn’t even have looked twice.

Even as a beginner, with a bit of planning, he could take it down.

And here?

This place had its own "special conditions," didn’t it?

If this really was Exodia...

Then I’m not at a disadvantage at all.

His heartbeat slowed.

His vision cleared.

And now, calmly, he reassessed the entire situation.

Whatever this is, that thing’s hostile. If I don’t kill it, I die.

That was all the reason he needed.

He glanced down at his hands—steady now.

Then tightened his grip on the sword.

And right on cue, the Hamr Goblin shrieked and charged.

KIAAAAAAAAH!!

Don’t panic.

This ti, Jhin didn’t run.

He stepped forward.

The distance closed.

My weapon’s got longer reach.

That squat body and short hamr might pack power—but if it didn’t land, it didn’t matter.

I was the one with the advantage from the start.

Jhin ’s eyes glead. He waited for the opening.

And the mont the Hamr Goblin leapt—

He thrust his sword like lightning.

SQUELCH!

It pierced straight through the creature’s chest.

"Kiiik?"

He felt it—the nasty squish of flesh parting, the splash of hot blood across his face.

The goblin’s hamr fell to the floor with a thud.

Its body sagged forward.

Is it over...?

"...No."

Jhin shook his head.

He bit down on his lip and turned toward the side.

A chorus of strange cries echoed again, and more red lights shimred near the elevator.

If this is really a ga... there’ll be at least five more coming.

He recalled the translucent ssage from before.

It had called this event a "Tutorial Quest."

Which ant... he knew how this went.

One monster? That was just the appetizer.

Exodia wouldn’t make it easy.

He took a deep breath, gripping his sword tighter.

The good news?

He had just rembered a way to beat this.

Can He do it?

He shoved aside the creeping dread and stepped forward.

There was barely a breath between thought and action.

It felt... strange. But he pushed the feeling away and focused on the fight in front of him.

He had to.

The way out was simple.

All it took was a little courage—to throw himself headfirst into enemy territory.

GRRRRAAAGH!!

He lunged and stabbed the oncoming Hamr Goblin in the neck.

Caught off guard, it couldn’t even respond before its weapon slipped from its grip.

SHLUK!

Jhin , fully in the zone, swung his sword again and again.

He pierced the heart of the next goblin, stabbed another through the gut, sliced a third clean through the neck.

His hoodie turned slick with blood, but he didn’t stop.

Not until they were all down.

The surprise attack had left them no ti to react. Not a single goblin even managed to fight back.

And then—

[!]

A chi rang through the air.
