Chapter 116 - A Dungeon With No Exit

A bug dungeon.

Players were trapped inside what was known as a kind of "Lost Dungeon"—a place from which one could never escape again.

Near BeyWorld.

From a nearby shopping complex, Captain Michael rubbed his eyes and looked again. Nothing had changed.

Was what he was seeing even real?

KRA-KA-KA-KRACK!

Due to the berserk parasitic beasts, no one was allowed to even approach the scene. He’d circled around BeyWorld, trying to find a safe entry point, but there hadn’t been a single gap to slip through.

So for the ti being, he had stationed himself inside a nearby building to observe.

’Even if it’s a support team, they’re all rookies with barely any player experience. Rushing in recklessly would be suicide.’

The only reason his team had even been dispatched here was due to Adonis’s warning. If they’d known a dungeonization of this scale would happen, they should have mobilized a full force of players.

’This is a ss.’

With the current team, they wouldn’t last even a minute against a parasitic beast. If they pushed through anyway, they’d be wiped out instantly.

It was a complete deadlock.

RUMMMMBLE!

Ti passed.

Then, just as the "dragon" drove its head into BeyTower, the parasitic beasts that had been raging around BeyWorld began to calm.

A sign that the area was entering a stabilization phase.

"Captain, if we’re going to make a move, now’s the ti."

"Right. Everyone, get ready!"

In a flurry, they exited the shopping complex and raced toward BeyWorld. The parasitic beasts surrounding it now looked like a massive fortress wall, forming a barricade that blocked their entry.

"This way! Here’s an entrance!"

They managed to find a spot less overrun by the creatures, and began their infiltration cautiously. The parasites seed quiet for now, but who knew when they’d attack again.

And they couldn’t relax.

The stillness of the parasites only ant one thing.

"There’s no ti. Search for survivors before dungeonization completes."

"Yes, sir!"

Would their intervention make any real difference?

That was unclear. If the people inside were on the verge of being wiped out, they had to do whatever it took to get them out.

On top of that, they had supplies—lots of them.

Their bags were packed with food that Adonis’s troops, likely starving for days, could eat. They’d brought potions and all sorts of ergency provisions.

In fact, their most important mission was to deliver this aid.

"Move fast! If what Mr. Clark and Mr Kyle said is true, we have to rescue them! If we lose them, Ark has no future!"

But, as with most things in life, things rarely go as smoothly as hoped.

Just as BeyWorld beca quiet enough to approach...

Sothing even greater was beginning to change inside.

"Captain!"

The ground began to tremble. And then suddenly—an earthquake cracked the earth open. A rift split the path between Michael and the team mbers who had already entered.

An invisible wall was rising.

"Get out!"

"What?"

"I said run!"

But sound didn’t carry through. The voices on the other side were muted, like soone had pressed "mute" on the world itself. Communication was impossible.

And then—flash!

A blinding light.

It was over in an instant.

"..."

Michael and the team mbers left outside stared ahead, stunned.

BeyWorld, which had been standing there in full view just monts ago... had disappeared without a trace.

"...Captain."

Michael swallowed a breath and stepped forward. Looking down, he saw that where BeyWorld once stood, a massive crater had ford—as if soone had carved out the earth with a giant excavator.

It looked just like a colossal sinkhole.

"What the hell just happened here..."

"...Any contact? Can the radios reach them?"

"No. Not a word."

They tried radioing their teammates again and again. All of them had upgraded devices—communication should’ve worked, even inside a dungeon.

But the team mber shook their head.

Michael cautiously picked up a pebble and tossed it into the crater.

Tunk!

"...?"

The stone bounced off sothing midair.

With a frown, he threw another.

Again, it bounced back, hitting so invisible wall in thin air.

This ti, he stepped forward himself.

"Captain! It’s dangerous!"

Before anyone could stop him, Michael ’s hand reached out—and hit sothing.

An invisible barrier.

The empty air was blocked by sothing solid, denying his entry.

Michael spoke.

"...You’re in there, aren’t you?"

What responded was a system ssage.

[A bug has occurred.]

[We apologize. System is currently under restoration.]

"...What?"

Michael furrowed his brow and looked back into the hole, then read the system ssage again.

A bug?

Even if Exodia had originated from a ga, this world was now reality.

And yet—bugs still existed?

And what was that part about "system restoration"?

Michael took a mont to think.

Even if his connection to Exodia had been brief, he wasn’t so clueless grunt. He was a forr special forces operative, known as a master in the intelligence field.

His assessnt was fast.

"We have to contact Ark imdiately."

"Sir?"

"Find any record of bug-related incidents that occurred during dungeonization in Exodia 1. And a way to break out of a situation like this."

He squinted into the space where BeyWorld had vanished. Though the scene before him showed nothing, he had the strange feeling that his team mbers inside were still alive.

No—they are alive.

He shouted with urgency.

"There’s no ti. Move!"

The system had said it was undergoing restoration. Whether that would benefit the players inside was impossible to say.

’Too many unknowns.’

But even this, in the end, had originated from Exodia.

If sothing like this had happened in Exodia 1...

’Then there must be a way. No, there has to be.’

Michael stared into the empty air for a long ti.
