By the ti Uriel was about to hit the ground he had recovered enough life essence to regenerate his missing leg and then so more thanks to the many wounds he inflicted on Mark, but although the fight seed to be long, it was actually in the short span they fell which ant Uriel did not have enough ti to heal.
Rather than being concerned by nearing the ground at such speed, Uriel dislodged the dagger from his target and attempted to hurl it away in an attempt to anchor the blade to sothing, but the eclipse did not allow it and it made sure to block the dagger's path which left Uriel with no ans to stop himself from falling.
In Mark's eyes it was his victory, since thanks to the eclipse he would be able to withstand most of the fall damage and regenerate almost instantly. Sothing Uriel was not capable of doing, not anymore at least, and no heavenly rank hunter could survive a fall from that height.
What Mark did not take into account, though, was that Uriel's flux reserves had also been replenished by the Red thread of fate and this allowed Uriel to take the fight to the next level.
By releasing a sizeable amount of flux energy in a short period a semblance of spectral wings appeared from his shoulderbones. With Dash still active, the air filled with blue sparks which made Uriel sowhat resemble his jaguar, only a hundred tis more frightening to Mark who had developed a trauma in anything related with Uriel.
"He flies!" Was all Mark managed to scream before Uriel lunged at him with the crimson dagger aid at his heart. Despite being taken by surprise, the eclipse parried the strike without issues and deflected Uriel while at the sa ti he regenerated Mark's bones that had been broken due to the fall.
Uriel attempted to dive on Mark a couple more tis before realizing that thanks to the eclipse Mark's foothold was too solid to break. The wings on Uriel's back did allow him to fly and also increased his speed beyond what he could achieve with Dash, but they were also much more costly and he would run out of flux energy unless he landed a clean stab which the eclipse prevented.
"I don't get it, why are you siding with that disgusting thing?" Uriel asked as he cancelled both Dash and his wings.
"Are you fucking joking!? I would have died long ago if it wasn't for the eclipse." Mark replied in the whiniest tone.
"I know, but I was not talking to you." The glimr on Uriel's eyes amounted to his cold stare made whatever remained of Mark's skin to pale and he almost lost consciousness.
"That is a good question," The eclipse said as it pondered its life choices. "one I ask myself too often, I admit. I sotis miss the tis where I was incarcerated in a book, but it's not all bad. I get the freedom to roam the earth and beco familiar with a civilization I knew nothing of. It's been, amusing."
"You're way chattier than I expected," Uriel grinned as his leg finished to regenerate. "maybe you can tell where the artifacts Mark stole are so we can leave things as they are."
"I'm afraid that won't be possible. We know nothing about that." The eclipse replied. Uriel would have had a hard ti believing Mark, but he actually believed the cryptid.
"Then, I guess there's no more reason to fight." Uriel turned to leave because he truly did not have a reason to fight anymore, other than not liking Mark that is. Making conversation was nothing but an attempt to gain enough ti to regenerate his leg, but he did not know that the reason the eclipse allowed it was because it was also stalling for ti.
"Unfortunately, that's not the case. You killed people I knew and liked, innocent people." The eclipse said as his shadow expanded thinly over the city. It was not absolute dark and did not impede people from seeing, but it made everything look as through sunglasses, but it was still possible to hear the helicopter arriving at the scene.
It took a few seconds for Uriel to put two and two together and realize that the army showing up on the literal murder scene of dozens of employees was not a great look and that they were not there to help him, but rather to capture him or maybe worse.
The helicopter lit up its spotlights directly upon Uriel and opened fire with rounds as big as a forearm. They were not explosive, but the sheer kinetic force they carried would have been more than enough to cause the sa effect a grenade would. But the mounted guns on the helicopter fell silent as a yellow light crossed it causing the vessel to fail and fall to the ground.
The yellow light was soon followed by a figure that seemingly wore black crow wings which Uriel recognized as Manu's. For an instant his face lit up in joy, but then he realized it was not the hermit but his girlfriend, Ika. She showed no interest in Uriel or the eclipse and just focused on putting the soldiers to safety.
"Now they won't be able to bother us." Sam dusted his hands after approaching Uriel.
"Should I say thank you, or...?" Uriel asked and the uncanniest smile was drawn on Sam's face as he replied with a single word.
"Or."
What ensued was not a fight but rather the beating of a lifeti and Uriel was on the losing side. Facing a possessed heavenly rank hunter was already a chore, but now a holy rank hunter also possessed joined in things were bound to beco dire.
However, Uriel too was possessed and while it was not a powerful cryptid or an omnipotent being, Nika was at least able to do what she did best which was to scour away. This ti, though, Uriel did not curse under his breath or even grunt at her actions because it was him who told her to call for help.
He knew defeating his two opponents was impossible, but the sa applied to him. It didn't matter how many tis Sam managed to punch Uriel, he would always counter with the Red thread of fate and recover from the damage. Uriel did not know if Sam's body had beco frail after his defeat in the desert or if he had beco stronger, but now it was not difficult for him to fight against him. But the sa did not apply to Mark, as the sword he wielded was impossibly sharp and would cut through the hunter's flesh like butter.
"Give it to , I'll end this fight!" Sam said to the eclipse as his lightbringer trait allowed him to notice Mark was passed out.
"I know you all too well and you're even more twisted than this one. The mont I give you this sword, you'll fly away and leave alone." The eclipse said after spitting a shadowy substance that evaporated in contact with the ground.
Sam didn't care to refute the eclipse's accusation and simply went in for another strike, only now Uriel missed the slash and could not get any life essence or flux energy from his target.
"Then hand it to , I'll take this bastard down and we can continue our conversation later." Uriel grunted, but the eclipse's answer ca in the form of a tackle that sent Uriel flying away. Instead of following, the eclipse went on and attacked Sam who was unaware of the danger. The longsword should have sliced him in half, but all it managed was to bounce back after hitting the orichalcum underarmor.
"You fucking thief!" After being sent to fly away, Uriel had taken the chance to gain more ground and fully intended to leave the fight, but now that he confird it was Sam who stole his garnts in France he was now committed to the fight.
While the three hunters possessed different levels of power, with Uriel being at a disadvantage, they were sohow at a stalemate.
Even with the longsword, the eclipse was unable to do anything against Sam since he was protected by the orichalcum underarmor, but he was fully capable of severely wounding Uriel. Sam, on the other hand, had an easy ti dealing with the eclipse since due to his lightbringer trait the shadows he cast to conceal its movents did not hinder his sight in anyway.
On the other hand, Uriel's Dash was able to easily overwhelm Sam's Celerity skill, since the latter would only enhance his speed but did nothing to his perception of ti. Each wound Uriel inflicted on Sam was invigorating since, as a holy rank hunter, Sam was brimming with delicious energy which in turn allowed Uriel to withstand the fight on two sides.
Unfortunately, the only one at a loss was the city of New Texas since it was not prepared to beco make or end all battlefield between three angry hunters.
