The images presented to Sam seed perfectly normal, but he was able to notice so small details that softly embellished his mories. First, he noticed how his father was actually paying attention to him during lunch instead of scrolling through his cellphone.

He also realized that his father was present at his first trip to the beach, when in reality it was his driver the one who took him along with the sitter.

The most painful dissimilitude between the images Atlantis showed him was the one of his first day of school where no one bothered to show up for him. No one from his large family, not even the uncles that would shower him with attention whenever his father was close ca yet in the illusion his father watched him all the way until he entered the school.

Deep inside, Sam would have preferred to believe the small lies forged in the dreamscape and he wouldn't have minded staying there for a long period of ti. The cryptid's power was so sweet it made even the most iron willed hunter's determination falter.

It always started slow, with only small details that didn't affect the outco of the mories, but then it would beco stronger changing more details until people trapped inside the dream would live their perfect lives in there until they forgot who they were in the first place.

However, the cryptid island had no ans to know that the seemingly casual scene where Sam peeped on his sitter while she changed could actually be one of his most important mories.

At that ti he was just curious about the female body, like most young boys. But what happened after he got caught ended up defining his character for the rest of his life.

"When she caught peeping she scread to the top of her lungs and gave an earful which I deserved. Alerted by her screaming, guards instantly showed up along with my father. You would think my father would have joined her in scolding , teaching a lesson or punish and for a minute I thought that at least I would get his attention, but what happened instead was...

he killed her." Sam spoke slow trying to prevent the tears from flowing out, but hiding his emotions inside the dreamscape was impossible and he was bawling his eyes out.

"She was the closest thing to a mother I had. She was also my sister, my crush, my entire family. I can't rember a single happy childhood mory that didn't involve her, and she was killed and replaced withing minutes," Sam scoffed. "I want to wake up."

"I am sorry for your pain, let soothe you, child. Let change your life for the better, let wash away your sorrow." The island said.

In response, Sam channeled his flux energy and was pleasantly surprised to find out it worked, though that feeling lasted only until he realized it was useless. There was nothing to fight, nothing to kill.

His all seeing trait allowed him to see as far and wide as he so wished, but all he saw were fignts of his own imagination. If he wanted to see an enemy, it would appear in front of him, but that didn't make him any more real than the fantasies the island built for him.

Enemies appeared and were defeated in quick succession, with absolutely no effect in the cryptid, but that didn't keep Sam from trying over and over for what seed like hours.

When he was close to his breaking point, the island finally spoke.

"I will set you free with one condition, if you dare to break it you will return here for eternity." The cryptid island spoke.

"What is it you want? How do I know this is not a trick." Sam snarled after failing to locate the direction from where the voice ca.

"I need you to help a friend."

"A cryptid!? No way."

"She's not a cryptid. Her na is Luna," When Atlantis spoke those words Sam rembered her tiny friend and an image of her was projected in front of him. She was expressionless as usual and looked the sa as she did now, except thinner. "you know her."

"She's my friend too." Sam replied with a smile and before he knew it he woke up in the escape zeppelin inside the Behemoth, with Mike Hathaway to his right and Mark to his left, both unconscious.

Without wasting any more ti, Sam tore through the zeppelins uncaring of the damage he caused and extended his wings the mont he felt the fresh air in front of him. Activating celerity while flying was pointless as air resistant would cap his speed anyway, but he did so nonetheless in hopes that he would get to Luna one second earlier.

The mont he gained enough altitude Sam was able to see her sleeping in shallow water at a distance, the many enemies surrounding her and also Uriel fighting for his life while entrapped in the sea lock skill. Just a gaze at the scene allowed Sam to see they were fighting a losing battle and he rushed in.

"I'm back, brother." Sam said softly as he covered Uriel with his wings, protecting him from the many water projectiles sent his way.

"You!" Luna shifted once again into a werewolf and extended her arms in an attempt to grasp Sam and pull him away from Uriel, but she was still immobilized by the cryptid's skill. "stay away from him!"

Sam paid no heed to her words and focused on Uriel's pale visage, his many wounds and heaved a sigh of relief when he confird he was sohow still breathing despite having only one lung. After his relief, a surge of pain erupted throughout his body as Nika used her shadow tendrils to grasp his wings and pluck as many feathers as she could.

Bella joined in firing away a barrage of wind slashes and without even knowing the reason why, Alice too joined in and used her bow to fire flux charged weapons at the sa man he saw die once in the past.
