Uriel watched as the archaeology students ran for their lives without even knowing what was going on with a wry smile. Scoundrel's death was unfortunate for more than one reason. He was a young archaeology enthusiast from the slums and relating to him wasn't difficult for Uriel.
They were kindred spirits and Uriel wanted to see him grow both in power and knowledge to work alongside him in researching the mysteries behind the existence of dungeons. But the most important reason why his passing was unfortunate to Uriel was that out of the study group Scoundrel was the only one the system considered a friend.
"I could use a friend now," Uriel let out dejectedly, annoyed by the fact that although he knew he should feel sad about Scoundrel's death he just couldn't feel it. He just felt annoyed by the fact he wouldn't be able to ask Scoundrel to activate his trait and remain hidden in the vicinity to give him a power boost thanks to the ability of the Red thread of fate.
"It would surely make things easier for ."
The flux energy signature beca stronger in ti and he watched Sam's angelical figure soaring through the skies at a speed difficult to follow with his eyes until he beca close enough to chat without landing.
"Why do I get the feeling you were expecting ?" Sam said with a smile stretched wide on his face.
"And why do I get the feeling you've been watching the entire ti?" Uriel replied with a grin of his own.
"Who would bother watching you with such a beauty around. That blond girl sure is a hottie. Is she available?"
"So that's why you didn't show up earlier. Bad habits die hard, I guess." Uriel let out a chuckle.
"You're one to talk, wasn't it you who got all grabby with her? Don't pretend you didn't enjoy it." Sam scoffed.
"So, it was true... you've been searching for dungeons this entire ti." Uriel changed the topic after dropping the nice act.
"Can you bla ? There's powerful artifacts and flux orbs ripe for the picking. Do you rember the cave of the giant won we spotted when we were on our way to Easter island? I had a lot of fun in that one. I'm sure you would have loved to see the glyphs painted on the cave walls. Too bad I destroyed them all." Sam said with an exaggerated pout to get a rise out of Uriel.
"I don't want to hear anything about your ti in a cave filled with won. I know your dating preferences after all." Uriel replied completely bare faced, but his snarky remark hit the right nerve as Sam's face disfigured in anger.
"Are we going to do this or not!?" Sam shouted.
"Sam, Sam, Sam... you really haven't changed a bit. You beca a holy rank hunter. You can see everything, fly, charm or curse people and move at a speed most hunters couldn't dream of, but deep down you're still the sa cowardly kid who's afraid to make the first move." Uriel said in a condescending tone that irked Sam even further.
"You dare call a coward?" Sam's eyes and wings lit up in a bright golden light that pulsated across the desert, but Uriel remained unfazed. It wasn't until Sam was about to make his move that Uriel gestured him to stop. "What? Do you want to call reinforcents? Summon your jaguar? By all ans, call anyone you want.
Other than the kids you sent off just now there's nobody in this entire desert and not even Nika with her shadow blink will be able to reach this place before I kill you." Sam gazed directly into Uriel's eye expecting to see his determination falter, but he showed no signs of fear.
"Reinforcents?" Uriel asked as he produced his cellphone and tapped on it a few tis. "I just want to put on so music." He shrugged dismissively.
Sam knew Uriel was able to listen to music from inside his trait and only did it in front of him to annoy him, but it served its purpose nonetheless and Sam plunged forward to the top of his speed. Thanks to his Celerity skill and his wings it was a speed not even Jon Hunter could have reached, but Uriel countered by activating Dash.
Uriel knew he wasn't a match for Sam's speed, but he managed to activate Dash in the nick of ti and placed one of his hands in front of him as he watched Sam closing in in slow motion. Sam's eyes carried not only the light of the flux energy being channeled outside, but also the piercing gaze that could bore a hole in any hunter's determination, yet Uriel stood his ground with confidence.
It wasn't until Sam was about to make contact with him that Uriel summoned the Red thread of fate and it slowly pierced through Sam's holy rank skin at the sa ti Uriel's arm shattered.
Uriel had accounted for Sam's montum which made it impossible for the latter to retreat in ti before being stabbed on the heart, but he didn't take into consideration the wings Sam obtained after reaching the holy rank.
Sam extended both his wings and made a single powerful flap which resulted in him stopping before suffering much damage and Uriel being thrown inside the sinkhole.
It could be argued that it was a bad decision on Uriel's side since the exchange finished completely on Sam's favor, but Uriel gained a sizeable amount of flux energy and enough life essence to regenerate the broken bone almost imdiately.
"It fucking stings!" Sam said after rubbing his chest trying to grab the foreign object that was supposedly jabbed inside him, yet Uriel recalled it before he could do so. "It doesn't matter, with Water warlock by my side I can regenerate from anything. I am invincible!" Sam scoffed trying to hide how shocked he was by a re orichalcum dagger causing him so much damage.
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that. You know, I wondered why you only used your smite thing once and I think I figured it out now. After what you did on our city you were overloaded with flux energy and needed to let so of it out which ans, you can't use it anymore. What a weakling!" Uriel shouted from inside the sinkhole.
"Why don't you co say it to my face?" Sam asked, his voice reverberating on the distance without him needing to rise his volu. It was a phenonon that reminded Uriel of Father of horrors and brought shivers to his spine, but he replied in the most annoying shout possible.
"I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the music."
