When Sam finished speaking, the room was divided into those who thought his actions were more than justified and those who deed his cris against humanity unforgivable sins that rited so sort of punishnt. Both sides began voicing their opinions and then discussing among themselves, but it soon turned into an argunt with no clear winner.
Those who backed Sam thought that, no matter what he did, if the results were positive then it was all worth it. It may have seed like the right side, considering that the lives of millions were at stake, but the other side pointed how it ca from a place of selfishness disguised as altruism. After all, they didn't care who made the sacrifice as long as it wasn't them.
Those kind of discussions held no interest to Uriel and now that he wasn't accused of any cri he was free to leave the room. Once outside, he soon fell deep into his accustod pensiveness, until a soft tug on his sleeve snapped him out of it.
"Hello." Said Luna casually, as though they never lost contact.
"Hi! Luna, you look great." Uriel replied the first thing that ca to mind.
"Thanks, but this isn't the ti to flirt." Luna scolded with a bare face. Knowing her as well as he did, Uriel knew correcting her was useless and he limited himself to ask about the others to which Luna replied by pointing inside the room.
dusa was already on her way towards Uriel, walking so slow it seed as though she moved on slow motion. Her already pronounced curves seed even more eye catching than before, her skin looked pristine and her graceful movents as she swayed her hips sent Uriel into a daze. There was a more mature air to dusa, more than a beautiful teen she was now a breath taking woman.
Just her passing brought the heated argunts to a stop as those involved turned their heads to look at her, resuming their bickering only after they lost sight of her. Of course, the fact that she was wearing a blindfold also added a hint of lust to her appearance and Uriel himself felt heat rise to his cheeks as he watched her walk directly towards them.
Watching her, Uriel couldn't believe how did dusa beco even more beautiful than how he rembered her and yet, there she was as living proof that it was possible. Back when he was just a kid trying to survive in the slums, he would have never thought a woman like that would even speak to him, let alone be friends with her.
Uriel dejectedly thought on how out of his league she was now. She was always the heir of one of the most important companies in the world and she also was incredibly powerful when compared to those of her sa rank even when she first acquired her ascended trait, but now she was obviously a heavenly rank.
She was just too perfect, or so he thought until dusa disgracefully bumped her face in the glass door shattering it to pieces and inelegantly falling to the floor.
"Are you ok?" Uriel rushed in to help.
"Of course not! Why would you guys leave a blind girl walk alone!? I can hear them speaking, please get out of here." A teary eyed dusa begged.
"Alright, let's go sowhere we can grab a bite. I'm starving." Uriel said, trying not to stare at dusa's chest as he helped her stand up.
"We need to wait for soone else." Luna stopped Uriel who was clearly embarrassed after failing on his attempt.
"Of course," Uriel replied, as he looked inside waiting for Nika, though the person who ca was no other than his friend. "Mister Scofield!?"
"Young bookworm, I'm sorry for not warning you, but I was unable to say anything else over the phone." The old gentleman said with an apologetic tone as he poked his hand out to greet Uriel, though instead of shaking his hand the young hunter went directly for a hug.
"I was so worried about you." Uriel let out trying to hold his tears.
"It's fine, everything's fine," The old man patted Uriel on the pack a couple tis and then chuckled. "You may take that silver coin from my back now."
"I had to be sure." Uriel shrugged, then all four walked towards the elevator.
The Celes tower was filled with businesses and Uriel picked the nearest Starborgs to sate his hunger, though he didn't count on it being closed due to the important eting taking place upstairs. This wasn't an obstacle for the starved hunter, who proceeded to take his pocket knife to pick the lock.
With food on sight, Uriel didn't hesitate to activate his Dash skill and prepared an impossible amount of sandwiches in the blink of an eye, though sothing like that was only possible thanks to his experience working in a Starborgs.
"It's exactly the sa as the ones I always get in here." An amused Mister Scofield let out after grabbing a bite, followed closely by both girls who stuffed their mouths like they were in a food eating contest.
"Those were actually all for ..." Uriel said under his breath, but then gave up and started eating too.
"Ah, it's so good to be young!"
"Uhm... my last al was snake, the one before that was alligator. I was, uhm... tired of reptiles." Luna said in between unusually big bites.
"Heavenly... rank." dusa said after stopping to catch her breath.
"As you surely now know, I'm a holy rank hunter and my presence will be soon required at the eting, but I'll try to explain things so you can participate on the offensive too." Mister Scofield said as he fought against the coffee machine which, in spites of the Quill's overwhelming power, seed to have the upper hand.
"An explanation would be great." Uriel nodded with a determined gaze which should have set the atmosphere for a serious conversation, if not for the many food crumbs inhabiting his face.
"I was contacted by the Fallen corp. as soon as I ca back and your friend shared with his plan to take on the titan level cryptid. I had my doubts at first, but I decided to hear him out since he's your friend."
"He was, he was my friend."
"I learned that not too long ago and I was very sorry to hear how things ended up between you. If it helps you feel better, he doesn't resent you anymore."
"Resent him!? Why would that treacherous bastard resent any of us!? He almost got us killed!" dusa let out in anger. "If it wasn't for him... if it wasn't for him..."
"I was there when you crashed your zeppelin and he imdiately sent people to look for you, but they stumbled with the fog and were forced to retreat," Mister Scofield took a sip from the coffee he finally got to make, but frowned at the taste and left the cup in the table. "I must go now, but don't hesitate to call if you want to participate on the offensive.
Such capable young hunters will surely make a difference."
Mister Scofield exited the room, leaving behind an awkward silence that lasted until Luna finally spoke.
"How was it?"
"How was what?"
"You know, the nosferatu..." Luna insisted.
"Oh, the nosferatu. He was... weaker than I expected." Uriel replied.
"Really? I never thought horror level cryptids could be weak. Entity level cryptids used to give nightmares..." dusa muttered.
"It wasn't weak, it just wasn't invincible. As soon as I destroyed his coffin he lost his ability to regenerate or gain flux energy by consuming blood. But it was scary, though not because of its power but because..."
"I wasn't talking about that! I wanted to know the length of its limbs, fangs, claws. It's abilities..." Luna went on a ramble about cryptids like usual, but instead of replying Uriel kept looking around expecting sobody else to arrive.
"And the others? Where's Emma, Casandra and Nika?"
"They're fine," dusa dismissively. "Emma is in the room because she didn't want to miss a eting that could potentially change history. Cassandra is rallying the soldiers since the army didn't have a clue about Sam's doings and they're trying to decide if they want to participate or not and Nika, well, she was turned to stone. But don't worry, Luna said she was fine and should recover soon."
"Nika was turned to stone!? How did that happen?" Uriel asked, not missing how Luna's gaze fell to the floor while fidgeting with a spoon.
"It's my trait! Now the na you gave really suits , don't you think?" dusa said with a dazzing smile that did little to put out Uriel's worries.
Luna's unusual behavior told Uriel all he needed to know. It told him that Nika was far from being fine and that Luna didn't know how to cure her, but that she kept it from dusa to avoid making her feel guilty. However, Uriel wasn't sad or angry, but not because he didn't care for Nika. The reason why he remained calm was that he had so information about Nika they didn't have.
"Luna, I'm sure you're doing everything in your power to help her, but I'm sure she's fine. I can still feel her inside and I bet whatever happened to her won't be enough to kill her stubborn ass."
