"Hold your horses! This is isn't what we discussed. You promised us it would be a fair trial." The cowboy said in outrage.

"And he just admitted to be guilty of mass murder." Samuel Song continued with a calm tone.

"That's not what he did. He doesn't even know what he did wrong, carrying out the sentence like this would be deed unfair by the public." The head of the cryptid hunting agency in the city explained.

"That's right! Just what I was about to say." The cowboy let out.

"That's why I'll proceed to explain him what were the consequences of his actions, so we can judge him appropriately," The woman said as she opened her briefcase and pulled out so papers. "Ever since the walls were built, this city was thought to be a safe place for humans to live in, far from the reach of the creatures we call cryptids.

So of us suspected there might be a small population of relatively harmless cryptids dweling within our city, but there was no evidence to that until a man found undeniable proof we were under attack from the inside. It allowed us to assess the threat and also to take asures to keep the population safe. Mister Sage, are you the man who did it?"

"I did, but..."

"Please wait until I finish. By your own admission you dismantled the fight club called 'the ladder' which was under the control of... let see what they're called... skinwalkers. You also broke into the hospital to rescue a huntress and now you killed a horror rank cryptid.

If these events went public you would be regarded as a hero and as a hunter, I thank you for your service to this city and to the world governnt."

"You're welco... I guess." Uriel hesitantly replied. In spites of her flattering words, he knew there would be a 'but' coming soon.

"But your actions disrupted the peace inside the city walls. You must not know, but when you vanquished the nosferatu you also turned those who had beco vampires back into humans. Again, this is a great service, but it ca at a huge cost. They're telling everyone who can listen to them how they used to be vampires and about the cryptids inside the city, it's pure chaos."

"I don't get it, why are you saying I committed treason. There's a good reason why I acted the way I did, both you and the rangers asked for my help and I thought I was doing a good job." Uriel's motives were far from civic duty, but it was true that both of them asked for help.

"Like I said before, under regular circumstances you would be deed a hero. I, myself, can't fathom how could a hunter of your rank fight a horror level cryptid and survive, let alone erge victorious. But you know what's coming for us, you were the one who inford us about the titan rank cryptid outside and yet you decided this was the best ti to cause such chaos."

"I get it, so I'm a scapegoat." Uriel nodded knowingly after finally understanding the reason why he was arrested.

"I wouldn't put it that way, but this is the only way to ensure the city will be peaceful until we can deal with the titan." The businesswoman nodded too and then Samuel Song continued.

"A cryptid like that has never been defeated, but just like you defeated a horror level cryptid, we think we have a chance against it. We just need..."

"To bla for everything that has happened and keep things the way they are until the Fallen corporation finishes preparing for whatever it is they're plotting." Uriel glared at Samuel who kept his poker face despite having his bluff called.

"If you are implying that I'm in any way partial to the leader of said company, I must remind you I disowned him well before this crisis." Samuel said after faking a cough, but now that Uriel understood what was going on he decided not to keep silent anymore.

"And yet you helped him build hospitals, schools and all sorts of facilities. Do you want to tell everyone or I should?" Uriel grinned at the realization that he managed to turn the tables in a single move.

"Do it, kill him now! He's speaking nonsense!" Samuel Song demanded, but the seed of mistrust had already been planted on those present and no one moved a muscle.

"I say we listen to him," Piero Celes was the first to speak. "my daughter has told many things about this person before. He's a slum rat with no family background, but Tina chose him as her first boyfriend nonetheless.

At first I thought it was just a move to boost her popularity, we all know how girls her age are, but then he went and discovered the dungeon beneath the Alamo, he was also who provided us with the last relic to enter and he even led those who survived during the first expedition. The least he's earned is for us to listen to him."

"I'm the highest ranking governnt officer in this city, I'm the voice of the governnt and you must do as I say!" Samuel rebuked, but it was now the head of the rangers turn to speak.

"He also saved my little Charlie when they encountered a horror level cryptid and she was a whole rank above him when that happened. Not just that, by killing the vampire she was also turned back into a human and is now currently recovering at the hospital... certainly not a Fallen corp one."

"And I tell you why that is, the fight club was being used by skinwalkers to gather hunters with strong traits to create an army of cryptids and in order to feed that army, Sam created hospitals where they harvested hunters. I wouldn't be surprised if all his acts of charity and generosity are related to a hidden agenda related to cryptids. Has anyone been to the south district lately?

What happened to the people who lived in the slums? All I'll say about that is to warn you off the public kitchens and the free tacos they're handing over." Uriel spoke casually as though he was reading a list of groceries, but several gasps were heard as he continued.

The last part was particularly shocking since so of those present had thought about the sudden disappearance of slum dwellers, but didn't care enough to investigate the matter.

"It seems we have the wrong person in custody, maybe we should bring in the Lightbringer for questioning." The head of the cryptid hunting agency said after adjusting her glasses. Everyone seed to agree, but before they could issue any orders an ominous voice echoed in the room.

"That won't be necessary, I was planning on coming here anyway." Sam walked in front of everyone, but his appearance differed greatly from what Uriel rembered. Everything about his appearance seed charismatic and it sowhat reminded him of Soulfire, only instead of annoyed Uriel was taken aback.

Sam looked more similar to Water warlock and there was barely any resemblance to his past friend. He exuded an imnse pressure, the kind he only experienced once before and Uriel asked himself if it was truly Sam the one speaking and not Water warlock himself.

Of all those present, Uriel was the only one who knew what was going on inside of Sam and he also knew there was a more than likely chance that the ancient being had taken control of him.

"Don't look so surprised, I wouldn't let my chosen brother face the consequences of cris he didn't commit." Sam said with a soft expression as he looked Uriel in the eye. For any onlooker, it seed as though he was truly concerned about his friend's safety, but all Uriel saw when he looked him in the eye was cold.

A fathomless cold born in the abyss of the countless eons Water warlock spent trapped in the orichalcum dagger.

Sam's presence caused a stir, though everyone remained silent for one reason or the other. So were deeply intimidated by Sam while others were chard by him. The latter was the case of the head of the Cryptid hunting agency, who needed so ti to gather herself in front of the most handso man she had ever seen.

"Mister... huh... Lightbringer..." The businesswoman stuttered.

"Please, just call Sam." Sam smiled dazzingly at the woman.

Uriel didn't know her too well, but it was the first ti she saw her showing any emotions. In fact, he never thought she was even capable of blushing up like she just did.

"Mister Sam, then. I imagine you ca here to deny the claims against you made by this hunter." She said pointing towards Uriel without so much as looking at him.

"That's not correct. I already said the reason why I'm here and it's because I can't let him take the fall for sothing that's entirely my responsibility. Everything he just said is nothing but the truth."
